A nearly 50 mile stretch of California's Highway 70 that winds through the Feather River Canyon is closed due to mudslides triggered by thunderstorms in the Dixie Fire burn scar, officials said Sunday.
The closure extends between Jarbo Gap in Butte County and the Greenville Wye in Plumas County, Caltrans said.
The California Highway Patrol is asking drivers to find alternative routes. "There is no estimated time for the road to reopen," CHP said.
CHP spokesperson Andrew Haskins said four separate mudslides poured onto the roadway mainly between Rock Creek Dam and Belden.
Massive floodwaters ravaged Yellowstone National Park and nearby communities Monday, washing out roads and bridges, cutting off electricity, and forcing visitors to evacuate parts of the iconic park at the height of summer tourist season.
All entrances to Yellowstone were closed due to the deluge, caused by heavy rains and melting snowpack, while park officials ushered tourists out of the most affected areas.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, though dozens of stranded campers had to be rescued by raft in south-central Montana. Authorities also said they would be assessing a potential "loss of homes and structures" in Montana's Stillwater County.
Two minors including a girl were killed after being struck by lightning in Jharkhand's Palamu district on Monday, police said.
The victims were identified as 10-year-old Chandni Kumari and 12-year-old Arvind Kumar. They were playing in the afternoon in their village Gongo when lightning accompanied by rain and wind struck the area.
The children died after they were struck by the thunderbolt, police said.
The bodies were sent to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital here for post-mortem.

In a heart-wrenching incident, as many as three persons were killed due to a lightning strike in Odisha's Nabarangpur district today.
A group of people was working on a farmland at Patrimal village under Raighar police station limits this afternoon. In the meantime, lightning struck them leaving three persons dead.
The deceased three persons have been identified as the land owner, tractor driver and a farmer, said sources adding that four cattle were also killed due to the lightning strike.
Raighar police rushed to the hospital and registered three separate cases of unnatural death. They handed over the bodies to the bereaved families after post-mortem.

While South Island ski field operators are celebrating some of the best June snow conditions in memory, many people are cleaning up or hunkering down due to wild storms.
One of the areas worst-hit by storms is Waikanae, a town 50km north of Wellington, which reported two tornadoes on Monday night. Residents took to social media with pictures of uprooted trees, roof damage and major flooding.
Louise Buurmans, 91, whose ceiling was damaged by the storms, told TVNZ the experience was "bloody horrible".
"When the fire brigade was here they said I could stay with them, I don't even know them all that well so that's really very nice," she said. "I'm still a bit shaken up about it. I'm going to go and stay with family."
A 22-year-old youth B Ravindra and his brother B Ram Prasad aged 20 were killed in lightning strike while they were working in their farm at G Marrimanuguda village in Kurupam mandal of Parvathipuram Manyam district.
The locals said the siblings along with their mother had gone to field on Sunday evening. The brothers were working in the farm while their mother was a little away from the field when the lighting struck the duo.
