Ministry of Agriculture notified of the strange occurrence on No. 4 Road

The mysterious sight of over a dozen feathered-black carcasses on a rural road between Abbotsford and Chilliwack caused one woman to pull over to get a closer look.

Katie Hogan says she doesn't know how the flock of birds met their end, but she counted 15 bodies in total.

"The [birds'] insides were out," she said. "I don't know what kind of birds they are, but they are smaller than a crow and black."

Six-year-old killed by stray dog in Pakistan

dog attack
A six-year-old boy was killed in Multan's Shershah after a stray dog attacked him.

The boy, Sujawal, had gone into the fields to play when the dog attacked him, his family said.

Residents want the culling campaign to be restarted in the area. But the District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Munawar Abbas believes the reason for the attacks is because people have kept the dogs as pets.

The Multan Metropolitan Corporation has informed the provincial health department multiple times of the failure of the culling campaign.

Eric Lewis, curator of the Moruga museum, stands next to a dead whale which washed up at the La Lune beach in Moruga yesterday.
A fourth whale beached at La Lune Beach yesterday. It was spotted on the shoreline around 6 am. Residents, game wardens and the police assisted in lifting the whale onto the tray of a pick-up and transporting it to another beach where it was guided back out to sea.

Hours later, at around 4 pm, two dead whales washed ashore at another area of the beach. Then at around 12.30 pm, another dead whale was spotted on the shore about a mile away from where the two other whales beached. Moruga museum curator Eric Lewis has taken possession of the three carcasses.

What exactly is causing the whales to die is not yet known, but the T&T Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TTMMSN) has warned members of the public not to touch the stranded marine mammals. Veterinarian Dr Wade Seukeran said the TTMMSN has responded to reports of stranded melon-headed whales at various coastlines and necropsies performed on some of the whales revealed that they died from a disease.

An alarming attack sent a girl to the hospital with multiple bite marks from an otter. The outraged otter forced its way into a home leading a mother to take action to make sure her family was safe.

We don't often hear about aggressive river otters, but by fighting its way inside a home in South Lakeland, experts said this otter was definitely not acting normal.

"My husband's like, 'Case, you just alligator wrangled an otter in the living room!'" said Casina Ewert, the victim's mother.

The otter learned that you don't mess with a mother's instincts.

"I think life is full of surprises, and you should just be ready for whatever," said Casina.

Photographer captures one of the last 'burkitshi' females who hunts with eagles

The nomadic tribes of western Mongolia have used the golden eagle to hunt for some 4,000 years. Today, only 10 women still practice the skill of hunting with eagles.

The tribes of the Altai region have trained young men and women in the art of hunting with golden eagles for centuries. While training to master this rare skill the hunters form a strong bond with their eagles.

Known as burkitshi, golden eagle hunters were historically male — the ancient art being handed down from father to son. Women did eventually break through the cultural "glass ceiling" and became excellent burkitshi.

However, the number of female hunters has plummeted to only ten.
