Two backcountry skiers who had gone missing Saturday in Southern Colorado were found buried under the snow on Sunday after rescue teams used cellphone records and followed ski tracks to locate their bodies, the authorities said.
The skiers, both men, were reported missing just after 9 p.m. on Saturday and their bodies were found under several feet of snow by 4 a.m. on Sunday, the Colorado Search & Rescue Association said in a statement. They were south of the Vallecito Reservoir, a recreation area about 20 miles northeast of Durango, Colo., that is part of the San Juan National Forest and is close to the border between Colorado and New Mexico.
The two skiers, whose identities had not been released by Sunday night, left for the outing at about 7 a.m. on Saturday and were expected to return at noon the same day.
The La Plata County Sheriff's Office located a truck that the skiers had been driving on the southern end of the lake, and ground and helicopter crews continued the search, the statement from the rescue group said.

You've heard it a thousand times: "The weather wouldn't be so bad here if it wasn't for the wind."
Well, it is for the wind. Wyoming, for those unaware, is a very windy place to live. Locals have more or less just learned to live with it but, for those who don't live here, actual proof of the Wyoming wind can be pretty astonishing.
That's why one Casper woman decided to get some video evidence of just how crazy the wind in Wyoming really is.

Two young farmers under Chief Kazangarare in Hurungwe North district, Mashonaland West province, were killed by a bolt of lightning last week, police have confirmed.
The now-deceased, Alec Mbomboya (24) and Owen Kawara (20), were killed while grading their tobacco harvest in a grass-thatched hut.
Mashonaland West police provincial spokesperson Inspector Margaret Chitove said: "The deceased are from Kahumwe village under Chief Kazangarare in Hurungwe North. They were stuck by lightning as they were grading their tobacco. We are appealing to people not to use electrical gadgets when it is raining to avoid lightning strikes."
According to villagers, the deceased were cousins who lived near the Chiva area in Hurungwe North.
"The two were promising young tobacco farmers who had done well for the past two seasons. Their crop was of good quality. It is a sad loss for them to pass on in such a tragic manner," said Norman Chisina, a fellow villager.

Heavy snowfall in Crestline, California
Over the past few days mountain areas have experienced high snowfall totals and there's more on the way.
A winter storm with an atmospheric river that made its way over the Pacific brought multiple days of unexpected snowfall to some parts of Southern California.
Some areas have already received over 30 inches of snow and there is more coming in the forecast.
The snow came as the National Weather Service issued a rare blizzard warning for the San Bernardino mountains as well as the LA County and Ventura County mountains.
Hundreds of people are cooling down on Mt Hutt in Canterbury today, which is getting its first snow of the year.
Ski area manager James Mckenzie said it was lucky that the snow coincided with Mt Hutt's open day, an annual fundraiser for Westpac Helicopters and the Methven Lions Club.
He said it is the first time in five years he has seen this much snow in summer. "To get this amount of snow in February weather - 30 centimetres of snow on Wednesday and Thursday, which was enough to get us out skiing and riding today, which is amazing."
Mckenzie said about 1000 people were on the mountain today.
"The purpose of GLADIO was to attack civilians, the people - women, children, innocent people, unknown people, far removed from any political game. The reason was quite simple: to force the public to turn to the State and demand greater security. Under a strategy of tension, you 'destabilize in order to stabilize', to create tension within society and promote conservative, reactionary social and political tendencies."
