Somali immigrant allegedly tried to rape woman in labor in Rome hospital

A Somali immigrant allegedly tried to rape a woman while she was in labor at a hospital in Rome, according to a Tuesday report.

Alì Abdella, 38, has been accused of sexual violence and theft by attempting to rape an unidentified woman, 43, while she was in labor at the Sant'Eugenio Hospital in Rome, reported Italian outlet Il Libero Quotidianno. Abdella allegedly stole and donned a green hospital uniform, entered the woman's hospital room, and began groping her thigh and masturbating in front of her, reported La Stampa.

The woman began screaming, alerting hospital staff who called the police, according to pupia.tv. Abdella, who has been living in Italy for the past five years and has a history of crime, was arrested Dec. 31 by the Epozione police department.

Abdella's first trial has been scheduled for Jan. 10. The defense team is calling for a psychiatrist's report.

Poll shows voters overwhelming support for Trump immigration policies

A poll of likely 2018 voters shows two-to-one support for President Donald Trump's pro-American immigration policies, and a lopsided four-to-one opposition against the cheap-labor, mass-immigration, economic policy pushed by bipartisan establishment-backed D.C. interest-groups.

The poll for NumbersUSA is another reminder to politicians that the business-funded 'Nation of Immigrants" polls distract attention from voters' private views, which were shockingly displayed on the evening of November 8, 2016.

The voters' attitudes are critical as business groups, Democrats and some GOP legislators renew their push to persuade Trump to accept an amnesty of the 3 million 'dreamer illegals - and thus drop his election-winning, pro-American policies before the 2018 election in favor of business-friendly, high-immigration/low-wage policies.

Comment: There isn't a much more contentious issue at the moment than immigration. Despite what left-leaning types would have us believe, the American people seem to support Trump's immigration policies which, as speculated, may have been behind his presidential win in the first place.

I. Introduction

1. I have spent the past two weeks visiting the United States, at the invitation of the federal government, to look at whether the persistence of extreme poverty in America undermines the enjoyment of human rights by its citizens. In my travels through California, Alabama, Georgia, Puerto Rico, West Virginia, and Washington DC I have spoken with dozens of experts and civil society groups, met with senior state and federal government officials and talked with many people who are homeless or living in deep poverty. I am grateful to the Trump Administration for facilitating my visit and for its continuing cooperation with the UN Human Rights Council's accountability mechanisms that apply to all states.


Comment: Seems like plenty of time to get a handle on the poverty problems of a nation of 350 Million.


2. My visit coincides with a dramatic change of direction in US policies relating to inequality and extreme poverty.


Comment: Ominous. Dramatic change, dun dun dun.


The proposed tax reform package stakes out America's bid to become the most unequal society in the world, and will greatly increase the already high levels of wealth and income inequality between the richest 1% and the poorest 50% of Americans.


Comment: Your ideology is showing. This is more of the nonsense around "income inequality" as if "inequality" were morally wrong. It's not. People who do more, earn more, based on the value other people perceive. We have laws against holding people up for money at gunpoint. Unless you can state specific examples of someone getting "inequality" with anything other than voluntary exchanges of currency....


The dramatic cuts in welfare, foreshadowed by the President and Speaker Ryan, and already beginning to be implemented by the administration, will essentially shred crucial dimensions of a safety net that is already full of holes. It is against this background that my report is presented.


Comment: All these fancy words. Welfare, safety net. Exchange all of those for "entitlement to other people's money."

A mother was found dead in her home after a man came across her four-year-old daughter playing alone in the snow. The child - named locally as Emily - was wearing just her 'My Little Pony' pyjamas in the playground, despite temperatures being barely above freezing on Wednesday evening.

Marcus King spotted the child and took her to a nearby community centre for shelter. He spent three hours with police trying to find out where her mum was, according to Fox News. But Emily led Marcus to her home nearby and officers found the door wide open in Ogden, Utah.

'The way the little girl was explaining it was: Her mom wasn't paying attention, and her mom was on the floor sleeping,' Marcus said. The 41-year-old mother was found dead inside the home. Police believe she died 24 hours previous as a result of a pre-existing medical condition.

Six others have been taken to the hospital for injuries.

Forty eight people are now confirmed dead after a tragic bus accident on the "Devil's Curve" along the Peruvian coast, just north of Lima. National Police said six others have been taken to the hospital for injuries.

Fourteen of the deceased have been taken to the nearby Huaral morgue after their bus collided with a truck along the curvy, mountainous portion of the Panamerican Highway, causing their vehicle to fall at least 200 meters to the shore of the Pacific Ocean as it was traveling to Lima.

Arizona National Guard military police ship out to help in Guantanamo

The Arizona Army National Guard is sending a unit of military police to Guantanamo Bay to help with Operation Enduring Freedom.

The soldiers are deploying Friday and will be gone for about nine months.

Officials with the Arizona National Guard say this is the second deployment for the 850th Military Police Battalion in the last 10 years in support of overseas contingency operations.

Dozens of family members said goodbye to their loved ones Friday morning at the Papago Park Military Reservation near 50th Street and McDowell Road.

More than 50 Arizona National Guard men and women are being deployed to the naval base at Guantanamo Bay for approximately nine months.

"Operation Enduring Freedom is the over-arching mission. This is the part of the operation that oversees what we are doing at Guantanamo Bay," said Col. Joseph Baldwin of the Arizona National Guard. "This is a military police unit."

The unit is the 850th Military Police Command Unit in charge of assisting with the operations of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. According to officials, the level of security in order to make sure they return safely to their home in Arizona needs to be high.

"We don't want to telegraph to the world who is going and who they are and who is performing this mission because they all have families that are still back here while they are doing this mission overseas," said Col. Baldwin.

"This is a very secure, very sensitive, but a very important mission. I can assure you that our soldiers will do it to the best of their ability, " added SGM. Zamora.

While most of the unit is made up of police officers from various Valley agencies, not all the civilian soldiers have a law enforcement background. Col. Baldwin tells Arizona's Family there are plumbers, electricians and Amazon and Intel employees among those being deployed.

The massive inflow of refugees into Germany has significantly contributed to the recent rise of violent crimes, a new study says. It adds that effective integration and more aid are needed to tackle the issue.

Germany has been recording a decrease in violent offenses for more than seven years before the refugee crisis, with the total number of such crimes falling by 22 percent over that period. The massive influx of asylum seekers, however, reversed this trend, leading to a renewed increase in violent criminal acts, the study conducted by a group of criminologists and forensic experts stated. The review was conducted at a request of the German Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

The US Coast Guard is reportedly searching for a plane that disappeared from radar during its flight from Oklahoma to Texas.

The plane departed from Wiley Post Airport near Oklahoma City earlier Wednesday and was anticipated to land in Georgetown, Texas, according to KFOR.

Firefighters were called to a property owned by Bill and Hillary Clinton Wednesday afternoon after a blaze broke out in one of the bedrooms.

The fire reportedly started at the couple's Chappaqua residence sometime before 3pm local time. It was said to have been extinguished quickly. There was no indication as to what may have caused the fire or whether either of the Clintons were home at the time.

An ambulance was called to the scene but reportedly left without anyone inside. The house, which the couple purchased in 1999 when Bill Clinton was still US president, boasts five bedrooms and a pool on its 1.1-acre plot. In 2016, Hillary Clinton bought the property next door for a reported $1.16 million. Chappaqua is in Westchester County in upstate New York, around 40 miles from Manhattan.
