A man with a meat cleaver has gone on a rampage in Hull, UK, attempting to burn down two banks. Horrified onlookers watched as the man tried to set fire to Santander before moving on to the Barclays bank next door.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 1pm Tuesday afternoon amid reports of a man brandishing a weapon in the city center. A number of stores were evacuated as the unidentified man terrorised the city center.

Videos uploaded to social media show the man waving the weapon around before pouring a liquid, thought to be petrol, on the ground near the entrance to the King Edward Street branch of Santander and setting it alight.

Comment: What's behind this increase in violent attacks? Just last night 7 people were injured in a Paris knife attack, and, in the last month or so, the links below document just some of the other acts of violence that have occurred throughout Europe:

Harvard professor actually believes merit-based admissions 'reproduce inequality'

harvard
A Harvard University professor claims in a new academic study that merit-based admission processes at elite universities "reproduce inequality."

Harvard education professor Natasha Warikoo draws on interviews with 98 white, native-born students at Harvard, Brown University, and the University of Oxford in "What Meritocracy Means to its Winners: Admissions, Race, and Inequality," published in the journal Social Sciences.

White students "stand in fear of being labeled a racist, but they are quick to call foul should a diversity program appear at all to hamper their own chances for advancement," Warikoo claims in that book.

During interviews Warikoo conducted between 2009 and 2011, these students were asked to sound-off on whether they felt their school had meritocratic admissions and if they supported affirmative action. Many answered the second question affirmatively and hailed the benefits of a diverse student body.

Dutch art festival condemned for 'Jihadi execution art'

You too can get beheaded by an Islamic State jihadist - at least as part of an installation at a Dutch art festival, which has been denounced by local politicians.

The photo-op is part of an exhibition at the Gogbot art and music festival in Enschede, a city near the Dutch-German border. It includes a life-sized photo of the haunting scene that was the reality for many victims of the Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS/ISIL) moments before they were executed.

The panel features a masked 'Jihadi John' dressed in black, with one hand holding a knife while the other is resting on a kneeling victim clad in orange. The face of the victim is cut out, making room for a waiting visitor to pose as an IS victim.

Comment: Piling on the crazy doesn't counter the existing crazy. It only magnifies it. Seems a critical point not at all understood by crazy people.

A suicide bomber in Afghanistan killed at least 32 people on Tuesday, a local official has said. More than 120 were injured in the blast.

The attacker reportedly injured some 128 people as he targeted a gathering in the eastern Nangarhar Province, according to the provincial governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogyani, Reuters reports.

The bomber reportedly attacked a rally on a highway between the city of Jalalabad, east Afghanistan, and a crossing into neighbouring Pakistan.

Public outraged after French education minister suggests all students learn Arabic

France's minister of national education has expressed support for adding Arabic language to the school curriculum for French children, enraging the country's right-wing that has warned of dire consequences if the plan goes ahead.

France should draw up a "qualitative strategy" for teaching Arabic language in schools, Jean-Michel Blanquer said during an interview on French television. He insisted that Arabic, along with Chinese and Russian, is one of the "great languages of civilization" and should be learned "not only by people of Maghrebi origin or Arabic-speaking countries."

Blanquer's comments were made in response to a report authored by the Montaigne Institute, a Paris-based think tank, which found that middle and high school students learning Arabic have increasingly turned to religious schools that teach Salafism - a radical branch of Islamic that advocates Sharia law. The report called on the French government to incorporate Arabic into the public school curriculum in order to counter the political and religious indoctrination taught at these Salafi schools.

CNN Turk staff in Syria's Idlib say they are unaware of staged chemical attack being filmed

Reporters of the CNN Turk broadcaster working in Syria's Idlib are unaware of any filming of a staged chemical weapons attack going on in the province, a spokesperson of the TV channel's international news office told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"Our correspondents are in the city of Idlib, doing their usual work and monitoring ongoing events. We do not know anything about filming involving chemical weapons. If something like this was going on, our staff would certainly inform [our office in] Istanbul," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson was commenting on the statement made by Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation made earlier in the day that the filming of a staged provocation with the alleged use of chemical weapons had begun in Idlib.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in late August that terrorists of the Tahrir al-Sham group (formerly Jabhat Fatah al-Sham terror organization, banned in Russia) were preparing a false-flag attack in Idlib to provoke foreign intervention in the country.

Comment: In other words, Russia's media blitz just might work in deterring a repeat hoax attack.

These 'fake' models are putting human models out of work

Every season the French fashion house Balmain recruits new faces to join their 'Balmain Army' and this season is no different. Except for the fact that the models are all CGI. That's right, they aren't real.

The brainchild of the label, creative director Olivier Rousteing, used technology to create a virtual version of his #BalmainArmy. The army consists of three models; Shudu, Margot and Zhi.

Hebrew graffiti was also scrawled across the walls of Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish which denounces the worship of 'false gods'.

An adviser to the Catholic Church has now blamed Jewish extremists for the 'deplorable' attack after Israeli police said there is a 'strong possibility' the fire was started deliberately.

Comment: Christians under continuous, violent attacks from Jewish groups in Jerusalem
Desecration and vandalism are what Christians in Jerusalem are suffering at the hands of highly organized Jewish groups. An unprecedented number of churches as well as holy sites are reporting increased violence against priests and parishioners who are being assaulted and attacked.

The methods of attack vary from vandalism, verbal abuse, individual attacks and what's called "aggressive property acquisition." All committed by Jewish settlers.
