Smartmatic co-founder and president Roger Piñate surrendered to federal authorities in Miami, Florida on Monday, where he faces charges related to foreign corruption, bribery, and money laundering to secure elections contracts in the Philippines.

Piñate, 49, was charged along with Jorge Miguel Vasquez, 62, the company's former VP of hardware development - who also surrendered on Monday.

Piñate posted an $8.5 million dollar bond and was later released, however he did not enter a plea because his defense attorney, Curt Miner, has yet to become his permanent lawyer. Vasquez was released on a $1 million bond. His defense attorney, Frank Rubino, told the Miami Herald, "It's so early in the case, but we have been aware of this investigation since 2019."

Hackers may have stolen the Social Security numbers of every American

About four months after a notorious hacking group claimed to have stolen an extraordinary amount of sensitive personal information from a major data broker, a member of the group has reportedly released most of it for free on an online marketplace for stolen personal data.

The breach, which includes Social Security numbers and other sensitive data, could power a raft of identity theft, fraud and other crimes, said Teresa Murray, consumer watchdog director for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.

"If this in fact is pretty much the whole dossier on all of us, it certainly is much more concerning" than prior breaches, Murray said in an interview. "And if people weren't taking precautions in the past, which they should have been doing, this should be a five-alarm wake-up call for them."

According to a class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the hacking group USDoD claimed in April to have stolen personal records of 2.9 billion people from National Public Data, which offers personal information to employers, private investigators, staffing agencies and others doing background checks. The group offered in a forum for hackers to sell the data, which included records from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, for $3.5 million, a cybersecurity expert said in a post on X.

Japan granted refugee status to 'record high' 303 asylum-seekers in 2023

japan
Applicants from Afghanistan made up the majority of those recognized as refugees by the Japanese government last year, similar to 2022.
A record 303 asylum-seekers in Japan were granted refugee status in 2023, the Justice Ministry announced Tuesday, although the figure is still considerably lower compared with those of Western countries.

Still, it was a jump from the previous record of 202 people in 2022.

Two other foreign nationals were granted quasi-refugee status — a new category for those fleeing from countries in conflict — while another 1,005 were granted permission to reside in Japan on humanitarian grounds despite not qualifying for refugee status.

According to the Justice Ministry's report, there were 13,823 asylum-seekers who applied for refugee status last year — more than a threefold increase from 2022. Among them, 303 were recognized by the Japanese government as being refugees who had to flee their home countries due to threats of persecution.

Comment: It's not a coincidence that Japan is renowned for being a high trust, and relatively low crime, society. It's also proof that if a government wants to, it's more than capable of regulating migration. As other countries in Europe, such as Belarus, Hungary, and Russia, have also proven:

It's fun to muse on the torrent of panicked, deranged texting between Democratic Convention delegates as a runaway train of malignant fates, bad choices, insane policies, delusional ideas, and feral emotion drives them to nominate a moron for president. The confusion and self-doubt must be epic. Are we really gonna do this? Is this really happening? You must imagine this is the same state of mind as, say, a car-full of drunken bridesmaids fishtailing down the highway at 70mph toward a telephone pole.

The mis-plays and subterfuges that brought them to this pass cannot be undone: the insult of letting "Joe Biden" front for a criminal blob government, the many hoaxes and the exorbitant lawfare lawlessness, the gross mismanagement of public affairs, wreckage of institutions, ruined economy, devalued dollar, destruction of households and communities, sexual lunacy and programmed mental illness — this is the party's legacy. Are none among them even a little bit ashamed of the damage they've done to this nation? And maybe wondering about it between one another? Perhaps even anxious to make it stop?

Ireland: Army chaplain stabbed multiple times, police investigate potential 'terrorism' motive

ireland terrorism
Renmore Barracks
Renmore Barracks Irish police said Friday they were investigating a potential terrorism motive in an attack on a chaplain at an army barracks in County Galway.

Police said the army chaplain was approached by a young person outside Renmore Barracks in western Ireland and was stabbed a number of times Thursday morning. The Catholic priest, who is in his 50s, was rushed to a hospital and was treated for injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

The Defense Forces said shots were fired by on-duty personnel after the chaplain was attacked, and a male teenager was quickly detained at the scene. The suspect was being questioned in detention at a police station.

Comment: Considering the brewing discontent over the establishment's weaponised mass migration, which has also boiled over into mass protests, and riots, sparked by a number of incidents - including the proposed construction of a migrant centre, as well as the murder of 3 young girls - the investigators speculation that this could be 'terror related' is potentially provocative, and so one would hope that they have reasonable suspicion to make such a statement.

Whilst weaponised mass migration is indeed contributing to the surge in crimes of various kinds, it must also be noted that not all of these 'random' attacks, which are happening across much of the planet, are committed by migrants. Some of the criminals were also known to the authorities.

Notably, there have been at least two other attacks against religious figures in recent months, one in Australia, and one in the US; neither of them were found to be 'terror related': See also: Exorcist calls for 'spiritual warfare' as 'rise in evil' causes exorcisms to take twice as long as 50 years ago

'US colony' to extradite Kim Dotcom

The government of New Zealand has signed extradition orders for Megaupload creator Kim Dotcom, ending a decade-long legal battle and clearing the way for him to be sent to the US for trial.

The US has charged the internet entrepreneur with racketeering, conspiracy to commit copyright infringement and conspiring to launder money, among other things. Dotcom has argued his company could not be liable for user behavior.

"I considered all of the information carefully, and have decided that Mr. Dotcom should be surrendered to the US to face trial," Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith said on Thursday. "As is common practice, I have allowed Mr Dotcom a short period of time to consider and take advice on my decision. I will not, therefore, be commenting further at this stage."

Dotcom was apparently aware of the decision earlier this week, posting on X that "The obedient US colony in the South Pacific just decided to extradite me for what users uploaded to Megaupload."

The German-born tech executive created Megaupload in 2005 and moved to New Zealand in 2010. The platform, which allowed users to easily upload and share content, ended up being seized by the FBI in 2012.

Israelis seeking refugee status in Portugal in efforts to escape the conflict they created at home

porto portugal
© Romain ChauvetA photo of the Porto cityscape, June 2024. Looking to escape war at home,As the Israel-Hamas conflict stretches into its 11th month, locals looking to flee its physical and economic perils find a shortcut - albeit temporary - in applying for EU asylum.
Since the Hamas onslaught of October 7, Nufar Bar, an Israeli immigration lawyer living in Porto, has seen a nonstop flow of requests from Israelis seeking refugee status.

"We get them almost every day," said Bar, who works with the Portuguese law firm Cotarelli e Rodrigues helping Israelis move abroad.

Portugal offers many options for those seeking to immigrate, but Bar has found that many Israelis choose to apply as refugees through the asylum application process in Portugal as detailed by the UNHCR.

For one 28-year-old Israeli woman who requested anonymity, applying for refugee status was the natural choice when the outbreak of the conflict caught her off guard.

Comment: Whilst not all Israelis are responsible for the successive genocidal governments, the vast majority of them do support the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, and they support current slaughter in the Gaza concentration camp, and so which countries would want to host refugees that hold these values?

Are Israelis even considered refugees when the situation they claim to be fleeing is entirely of their own making?

These are considerations numerous regions of the planet will need to consider, because going off the current progress of the failing Greater Israel project, there will likely be many more tens of thousands - if not hundreds of thousands - of Israelis seeking refugee status. There will be many others who already hold dual citizenship and so can enter relatively unnoticed.

Should Israelis receive sanctuary when there will be many more peoples of the Middle East who will also be fleeing Israel's eschatalogical nightmare, and who will be looking for a safe haven?

As it is, money talks, and so it's likely that Israelis who have money will be able to do as they please. But the world may take a different view once the fall out of Israel's chaos creation really starts to take effect: when commodity prices become unbearable, when real refugees flee the Middle East and flood the West, and when the mainstream media can no longer hide the unimaginable sadism Israel has meted out on the Palestinians:

Australia: Mother kills 10-year-old daughter by slashing her throat, posted disturbed 'religious' TikToks hours earlier

Yingying Xu
Yingying Xu (pictured) is accused of killing her daughter. She posted a series of religious TikToks the same day as the alleged killing
Detectives are investigating religious TikToks a mother accused of slashing her daughter's throat posted the same day she allegedly killed her.

Yingying Xu, 46, allegedly murdered her daughter Sophie Wang, 10, at their Emerald Lakes home, in Carrara, on the Gold Coast, on Tuesday.

Sophie's father, Yun Wang, a science professor at Griffith University, arrived home to find his daughter and called triple zero, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, she could not be saved.

Xu, 46, was arrested in a nearby street more than four hours later - at 10.25pm - and has since been charged with murder.

Comment: It's notable that there have been a few filicide incidents across the globe in just the last few months; there has also been a number of widely reported, seemingly 'random', knife attacks against young girls: Other than the similarities connecting those incidents, there has also just been a general spike in violent, and deadly, seemingly random attacks - a number of which, interestingly, were also in Australia:

Is a much deadlier strain of monkeypox going to be the next great global health scare?

biohaz
© PixabayBiohazard
Should we be alarmed? Many of us have been watching the spread of a deadly new strain of Monkeypox for quite some time, and now it appears that this crisis is about to reach a boiling point. It is being reported that the World Health Organization is going to hold an "emergency meeting" to determine whether or not to declare a "public health emergency of international concern" due to a rapidly growing outbreak of Monkeypox in central Africa. For those that are not familiar, a "public health emergency of international concern" is the highest level of alert that the WHO issues. For example, in January 2020 a "public health emergency of international concern" was declared when COVID started to spread like wildfire inside China. So could we now be on the verge of the next great global health scare?

Two years ago, an outbreak of Monkeypox quickly spread all over the planet, and it is truly a horrifying disease...
Mpox is a viral disease that causes painful rashes and flu-like symptoms such as fever, headaches and body aches. The virus that causes it comes from the same family as that of smallpox. It spreads from person-to-person and from animals to people through direct contact.

In May, scientists reported a new strain of the virus in the DRC that they said was more virulent and might spread more easily.
Right now, if you somehow got infected with the strain that spread throughout the world in 2022, there is a good chance that you would be in so much pain that you would actually believe that you were about to die.

But that strain was rarely fatal. Unfortunately, this strain is much more deadly.

Comment: Interesting timing of WHO's monkeypox increase in Africa, just as numerous countries are rising in status in the global community, assisted by Russia and China.

Two people have been killed and a child is among 29 injured after a Ukrainian cluster munition exploded near a bus in the city of Lisichansk in Russia's Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), local authorities have reported.

According to a message posted by the head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, on his Telegram channel on Tuesday, "Ukrainian nationalists today attacked Lisichansk, using a cluster munition."

The city administration also posted on its own Telegram channel that the shelling had occurred near a bus stop at around 11:45am.

LPR Health Minister Natalya Pashenko stated that one passenger had been killed at the scene, while another man died in hospital after sustaining a wound to his heart that was "incompatible with life." At least 18 others, including a 12-year-old child, have been hospitalized in critical condition.

Comment: No one is exempt from being targeted.
