US: Recall of 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets after metal wire found

Check your freezer. Perdue Foods is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after some customers reported finding metal wire embedded in the products.

According to Perdue and the U.S. Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recall covers select lots of three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.

FSIS and Perdue determined that some 167,171 pounds (75,827 kilograms) of these products may be contaminated with a foreign material after receiving an unspecified number of customer complaints. In a Friday announcement, Maryland-based Perdue said that the material was "identified in a limited number of consumer packages."

Comment: Recalls happen, but the contamination and adulteration of the food supply is a fairly common symptom of a civilisation in decline; and the US is exhibiting a myriad of others:

UK's migrant crossings reach highest level since PM Starmer's new gov't came to power, 703 people in 1 day

migrants
Weekly small boat crossings have reached their highest level since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister, new figures show.

Some 1,427 people crossed the Channel in small boats in the past seven days, according to Home Office data.

Last Sunday, Aug 11, saw the highest number of crossings in a day since the Labour leader entered No 10, with 703 people making the journey.

The figures showed that 492 people made the crossing in nine boats on Saturday Aug 17 - the second highest daily number since Labour took power.

Some 107 arrived on Wednesday and 125 on Monday.

The third highest daily number came on July 15, within a week of Labour taking power, with 427 people crossing in nine boats.

Comment: If successive UK governments - both Labour, and Conservative - wanted to stop weaponised mass migration, they could do so. And, those that do arrive could be deported. As numerous other countries do with illegal migrants. That they don't, is further evidence that they are, indeed, intentionally complicit.

For example: A week or so into the protests and riots in the UK, the government threatened the public that it had teams of officers monitoring social media, and that it would hunt down 'keyboard warriors' it deemed to be complicit in fomenting unrest. PM Starmer, who warned that the UK needed a 'bigger reset', also said that they would be rolling out mass AI surveillance, and teams specifically tasked with tracking down protest and riot attendees.

Much of the British public were particularly infuriated to hear that police resources were being assigned to such tasks because, in just the last few years, there has been a surge in all kinds of crimes, and police are known to be attending as little as 40% of incidents. This suspect prioritization has become popularly known as Two-tier (Kier) policing.

So, when the British government wants to crack down, they do. However it would appear that British citizens are the primary target, and specifically those who would call out the government's incompetent and corrupt policies.

A more recent development seems to show that the intention is to add even more fuel to the fire, with the government announcing that it will 'scatter' illegal migrants throughout the country:

Border Patrol suicides continue at staggering rate under Biden-Harris admin

Seven CBP employees have taken their own lives already this year, just one short of the eight suicides reported in all of 2023.

The number of US Customs and Border Protection workers who have committed suicide so far this year has almost eclipsed the total number who took their own life in 2023 — as exhausted agents say the crisis at the besieged southern border is taking its toll.

At least seven CBP employees have committed suicide this year, just one less than the eight who took their own life last year — with more than four months still remaining in 2024, CBP's former "suicidologist," Dr. Kent Corso, told The Post.

There were also eight suicides in 2020 and 11 in 2021, ABC News previously reported. CBP suffered its worst year in 2022, when 15 employees took their own life, Corso, who left the agency in May, said.

There are 60,000 CBP employees, including around 19,000 Border Patrol agents.

Lebanon completely loses power - energy company

All "essential facilities" are down after a fuel shortage shut down the country's last power plant.

Lebanon's last operational power plant has run out of fuel, plunging the country into a total blackout. EDL, the Lebanese state energy company, said that the power cut will affect airports, water supplies, and prisons.

The oil-fired Zahrani power plant exhausted its fuel supplies and shut down on Saturday afternoon, "resulting in a total power outage across all Lebanese territories," Electricite du Liban (EDL) said in a statement.

The outage will affect "essential facilities such as the airport, port, water pumps, sewage systems, and prisons," the company continued, adding that power will gradually be restored "once fuel oil is secured."

Power shortages have plagued Lebanon for decades, with the country's post-2019 economic crisis worsening the situation. EDL typically provides less than five hours of electricity per day, with Lebanese homes and businesses relying on diesel or petrol generators to make up the shortfall.

Flashback Best of the Web: 2007 Report: UK's real population could be as high as 80 million people

london tube
You're not imagining things
It is the statistic that dare not speak its name, though eventually it must. It has huge ramifications for the civil and political life of this country, the health of the equity markets and, most immediately, the residential property market. So don't forget you read it here first: the population of the UK is presently somewhere between 77 and 80 million.

The 2001 census, already hopelessly out of date and easy to avoid for those who find filling in forms a trifle inelegant, numbered us at a little under 59 million. But as statistics go, that one's most definitely a damned lie.

My sources for the above statement are good, but scared of admitting the truth for fear of incurring the wrath of Whitehall. It's like the best way of monitoring illegal drug consumption: forget the pious statements from ministers - the foolproof method is to sample our water and the effluent in it. That's easily the best way of monitoring what the nation has been consuming.

Comment: Well, the financial crisis resulting from that 'credit crunch' in 2007 came and went, and the UK regime survived with its 'Big Lie' intact.

If the UK's real population was 77-80 million people 17 years ago, what is it today? 90 million? Officially, it's just 67 million, yet its existing transport infrastructure cannot cope with the huge numbers of people, and the UK - among developed countries - is second only to South Korea in population density.

Given that such a population boom isn't coming from the native-born population, whose birth rates have collapsed, people aren't imagining things when they sense that their country's being "flooded" with immigrants.

Huge fire destroys Soviet aircraft carrier 'tourist attraction' in Shanghai

The Kiev class carrier Minsk has been languishing in a man-made lagoon northwest of Shanghai for years.
A major fire, which may still be ongoing, has broken out on the former Soviet Kiev class aircraft carrier Minsk, which has been rotting away in a man-made lagoon just off a stretch of the Yangtze River in China for years now. The War Zone previously dove into the saga of how the flattop came to be anchored there in a feature you can find here.

The cause of the fire and Minsk's current status are unknown. Local authorities say the blaze broke out at around 4:00 PM local time, that there have been no apparent casualties, and that the incident is under investigation, according to Chinese media.

Pictures and video footage have emerged online that show a significant fire.

Comment: Given the West-Kiev's now brazen terrorism against Russia, the West's acknowledged burgeoning war on China, and the relentless 'unexplained' fires and explosions that have been occurring throughout Russia since at least the beginning of the SMO, while it's of course not certain, it is reasonable to suppose that this may yet another act of sabotage orchestrated by the West and its partners; and, in this instance, it could be seen as a 'two-for-one':

Wait, what? Georgia board TO VOTE on requiring number of ballots cast to equal number of voters

Comment: That this should even be a question? But read on . . .

On Monday, the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) is set to vote on a rule amendment that would require all county boards of elections to comply with new procedures to enforce current state requirements that the number of ballots, number of votes, and number of voters in election tallies come out equal.

Georgia saw more than 3,000 ballots double-scanned during the 2020 presidential recount in Fulton County. It is unclear how many — if any — of the double scanned ballots were counted twice as votes, since the Georgia secretary of state's office could not confirm it, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Kevin Moncla, who filed a complaint alleging potential violations of Georgia's election code in Fulton County, tells The Federalist he believes the double-scanned ballots were indeed counted twice since he says they appeared in the cast vote record. A streamlined reconciliation process would catch a repeat of this election malfeasance by identifying more votes tallied than the amount of voters who voted.

Imitating the Nazis and desecrating graves: Disturbing actions of Ukrainian troops amid attack inside Russia

Ukrainian troops in Russia's Kursk Region are subjecting civilians to a campaign of violence and humiliation, footage and testimony from the region increasingly suggests.

As the incursion by Kiev's forces into Russian territory continues, RT has gathered several particularly disturbing incidents from the attack, which has been condemned as "terrorism" by Moscow.

Wannabe Nazis

One incident last Sunday sparked widespread outrage in Russia after a video filmed by the perpetrators spread online. In the clip, a pair of Ukrainian soldiers are seen gleefully imitating Nazis as they insult a confused elderly man.

The intention to mimic the force responsible for millions of deaths in the USSR during World War II - including in the part of the country that later became modern Ukraine - is unmistakable. One of the Ukrainian troops is seen in a distinct helmet with the insignia of the Schutzstaffel (SS), the military arm of the Nazi party and particularly infamous for its atrocities.

Both the soldier and the cameraman are heard speaking a mix of broken Russian and German, in a manner that Russian popular culture began to depict the invaders decades later, when the horrors of the Nazis had somewhat faded. Judging by the laughter heard in the clip, the Ukrainians found amusement in calling the elderly man a "Russian pig."

Comment: The West knew Ukraine was in no position to negotiate terms of any sort and for any reason. But by capturing civilians and having the ability to use these hostages as leverage that has now changed the situation slightly. Was that the real goal of this incursion, or was the idea to kills as many Russian civilians as possible since Ukraine is having such a hard time killing Russian soldiers?

U.S. immigration officials on Wednesday nabbed a Peruvian gang leader wanted for nearly two dozen murders in his home country.

Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, 38, was arrested in Endicott, New York, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Thursday.

He's being held at a federal detention facility near Buffalo pending an immigration hearing, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said.

Authorities say Torres-Navarro entered the U.S. illegally at the Texas-Mexico border on May 16. He was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol the same day near Roma, Texas before being released into the U.S. with a notice to appear for immigration proceedings, Fox News was told.
