Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels made it clear this week that he and his officers will not put up anyone who would bring their lawlessness to his Florida community.

In a video YouTube statement posted Tuesday, Daniels, who is black and a Republican, stood with about 20 deputies to declare to civil rights protesters who might consider getting violent that they are not only not welcome in Clay County, but also that he would not hesitate to dole out the pain and use legal gun owners to help keep the peace.

Standing by their oath

Daniels began by letting citizens know that he and his officers are aware of the debate going on nationwide about police reform and sought to reassure them that the men and women in his office will stand by their oath to protect and defend the Constitution and protect the public.

CNN's doom and gloom doc has a message for Americans: "Christmas should not be fun this year."

Don't have fun this year. Don't celebrate with family because of a flu with a 99.98% survival rate.

"Christmas should not be fun this year, okay? This should be part of the negative 2020 that we've had," Dr. Andrew Pastewski said Thursday morning on CNN.

Comprehensive analysis of 50 states shows greater spread with mask mandates

masks
For months, we've been lectured to by the political elites that cases of coronavirus are spreading too quickly and that we must wear masks to stop the spread. The obvious fault with their act of desperation is that they can no longer mask the fact that most parts of the country have already been fully masked for months — long before the ubiquitous spread this fall.

Researchers at RationalGround.com, a clearinghouse of COVID-19 data trends run by a grassroots group of data analysts, computer scientists, and actuaries, did an analysis of all 50 states divided by those that had mask mandates and those that did not. Justin Hart, co-founder of the website, posted the results in a Twitter thread and shared with me the data analysis:

They studied the number of cases over a 229-day period from May 1 through Dec. 15 and divided the results of the two study groups by days with mask mandates and days without mask mandates. The non-mandate data group includes both states that never had a mandate and those that did at some point, but data set included only the days they did not have a mask mandate.

He's back: LA's enigma 'jetpack man' spotted again soaring thousands of feet over California coast, FAA remains baffled

After numerous sightings throughout 2020, Los Angeles' intrepid "jetpack man" has made yet another appearance, this time captured on film flying some 3,000 feet above California by pilots on a training flight.

The Sling Pilot Academy took to Instagram on Wednesday with the footage after baffled instructors caught what appeared to be a man in a jetpack whizzing around thousands of feet in the air near Palos Verdes, south of LA. The object - or person - passed along the right side of the craft and, as quickly as it arrived, blasted off into the distance.

The apparent jetpacker made no attempt to communicate with the pilots, and no chatter about the strange sighting was heard on the typically crowded radio channel used by the instructors, one of the pilots told the War Zone, which first reported on the new video.

Self-described "dirty trickster" Roger Stone said that he will file a $25 million lawsuit against the Department of Justice while his lawyers file complaints for prosecutorial misconduct against key DOJ officials.

Stone, a longtime Republican operative and ally to President Trump, was arrested in January 2019 and sentenced to 40 months in prison in February in connection with special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Stone's high-profile arrest at his Florida estate was caught on camera by CNN after allegedly receiving a tip of his scheduled arrest.

"The terms of my pardon allow me to sue the Department of Justice, Robert Mueller, James Comey, John Brennan, Rod Rosenstein, Josnathan [sic] Kravis, Aaron 'Fat Ass' Zelinsky Jeannie Rhee and Michael Morando," Stone posted to social media site Parler. "My lawyers will be filing formal complaints for prosecutorial misconduct's with DOJ office of professional responsibility at the same time I file a 25 million dollar lawsuit against the DOJ and each of these individuals personally."

Boondoogle: Shocking pics show Nightingale Hospitals lying empty as 'mutant Covid strain rips through UK'

Alarming pictures from inside the country's flagship Nightingale Hospital show it stripped bare despite soaring Covid cases.

The new strain is rampant in the capital but the coronavirus facility in East London is deserted.

Our photos show the largest of the Nightingales without staff, equipment and the 4,000 beds it has room for at the ExCeL centre.

Cases have doubled in London in a week and health bosses are being urged to open the site and start treating patients.

It is one of seven hospitals built at the start of the pandemic at a cost of £220million, but it was shut and placed on standby soon after.

Labour MP Luke Pollard opened a floodgate of internet hate after writing a letter to his constituents in which he claimed Santa Claus had received a Covid-19 jab and that children were saving lives by not seeing their relatives.

Pollard, who represents Plymouth, started the message by reassuring young people that Father Christmas will still be able to deliver presents this year, despite strict restrictions on movement and gatherings during the holidays.

He went on to claim that Santa was vaccinated against coronavirus and that all of his reindeer have tested negative for the illness. Furthermore, all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure that Santa's workshop in the North Pole is a "Covid-secure workplace," Pollard reassured the children of his constituency.

China launches antitrust probe into tech giant Alibaba

Jack Ma Alibaba Group
Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba Group
China has launched an antitrust investigation into Alibaba Group and will summon the tech giant's Ant Group affiliate to meet in coming days, regulators said on Thursday, in the latest blow for Jack Ma's e-commerce and fintech empire.

The probe is part of an accelerating crackdown on anticompetitive behaviour in China's booming internet space, and the latest setback for Ma, the 56-year-old former school teacher who founded Alibaba and became China's most famous entrepreneur.

It follows China's dramatic suspension last month of Ant's planned $37 billion initial public offering, which had been on track to be the world's largest, just two days before its shares were due to begin trading in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

In a strongly worded editorial, the ruling Communist Party's People's Daily said if "monopoly is tolerated, and companies are allowed to expand in a disorderly and barbarian manner, the industry won't develop in a healthy, and sustainable way."

Shares in Alibaba fell nearly 9% in Hong Kong, their lowest since July, while rivals Meituan and JD.com both fell more than 2%.
