Syrian army receives new 'Terminator' experimental armored vehicle from Russia

A single BMPT-2 "Terminator", which represents an entirely new class of armored vehicles, and is not yet in service with the Russian military, has been transferred to an elite Syrian army unit

In just about every war since WWII soldiers have found fast-firing anti-aircraft guns to be extremely effective against...infantry.

In WWII the Americans nicknamed their M45 Quadmount — four 12.7mm machine guns designed for air defense — "meat chopper" and "Krautmower" for its utility in fighting enemy foot soldiers.

In Afghanistan and Chechnya one of the most beloved weapons of the Soviets/Russians was the Shilka. Not bad for an anti-aircraft weapon in a war where the opposing side didn't have an air force.

Designed as an air defense weapon (it even came with its own radar dish) the Shilka was very lightly armored for Afghanistan, but its four 23mm autocannons offered more useful firepower than either the potent, but slow, tank guns, or the single autocannon of the BMP-2 infantry carrier. Also it was the only Soviet weapon whose guns had sufficient elevation to easily fire on targets in the hills from valley floors.

U.S. DIA warns Russian seeking bleak world dystopia where no one dominates entire globe

Moscow
© Maxim Zmeyev / Reuters
The US Defense Intelligence Agency has just published a 116-pages long report on Russia, its strategic goals and its military. The report starts by laying out what kind of a world Russia wants:
Moscow seeks to promote a multi-polar world predicated on the principles of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in other states' internal affairs, the primacy of the United Nations, and a careful balance of power preventing one state or group of states from dominating the international order.
According to DIA Russia wants an international order based on:
  • respect for state sovereignty and non-interference
  • the primacy of the United Nations
  • no one state dominating the entire world with its cronies
Call me crazy but this sounds pretty darn good to me. Who could possibly object to this?*

Comment: The Russians obviously must be stopped. It's an obvious Commie trick. Just ask Assistant Secretary of Defense General Buck Turgidson!

Trump mocks Kim Jong-un after latest N. Korea missile test - "Nothing better to do with life"

US President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter, wondering if North Korean leader Kim Jong-un really doesn't have anything better to do than launching missiles. The statement came following Pyongyang's latest medium-range ballistic missile test.
"North Korea has just launched another missile. Does this guy have anything better to do with his life? Hard to believe that South Korea and Japan will put up with this much longer," the US leader wrote on his Twitter.

Comment: What Trump doesn't seem to understand is that N. Korea is threatened by the presence of US missiles and soldiers stationed in S. Korea and is trying to send a message that the US should get out of Asia and leave Korea alone. North Korea has no option other than to build up its military to protect itself from US imperial takeover.

Trump also said that Seoul and Tokyo's patience is wearing thin after dozens of such North Korean tests.
In his second tweet, he once again urged China to exert more pressure on the North. "Perhaps China will put a heavy move on North Korea and end this nonsense once and for all!" Trump said.

Zakharova: Eastern Ghouta "chemical weapons attack" claim are a western propaganda show

The Free Syrian Army's (FSA) claims that the Syrian government troops allegedly committed a chemical attack in the Syrian region of Eastern Ghouta are an example of the Western media campaign against Damascus, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

The style of the English language, used in the FSA press release, hints that it was in fact prepared with the assistance of international third parties, Zakharova said.

On Saturday, a number of Syrian opposition online portals claimed that the alleged government troops' chemical attack in Ein Tarma in the Eastern Ghouta region had left 30 militants poisoned. The command of the Syrian Armed Forces refuted allegations as false, while the Center for Syrian Reconciliation did not confirm the attack.

'Unintentional listening' or spying? Navy prosecutor cites breach in attorney-client privilege at Guantánamo

A Navy prosecutor said unauthorized, unidentified people "unintentionally" overheard detainees consulting with their attorneys at a special, irregular meeting site to stir the latest controversy over attorney-client privacy at the wartime prison.
"Any characterization regarding an intrusion in the attorney-client relationship is misleading," said Cmdr. Douglas Short, lead prosecutor in the case of an Iraqi man accused of commanding al-Qaida's army in Afghanistan after 9/11. He announced the explanation during a war court hearing Thursday, reading from a page that sounded nearly identical to a subsequent U.S. Southern Command press statement.
But the submission into the court record offered an unclassified window into a June 14 letter by the chief defense counsel, Marine Brig. Gen. John Baker.
In it, Baker declared a "loss of confidence" in the integrity of "all potential attorney-client meeting locations" after learning some legal meetings were the victim of "intrusive monitoring." The time period spanned September 2015 and April 2017.
Short did not explain why lawyers were meeting with prisoners in place where people could listen in on their consultations. But he said none of the overheard attorney-client meetings were with captives "currently in contested military commissions trial proceedings," leaving open the possibility that some were conversations with convicts turned government witnesses.

U.S. military assumes attack position off coast of Syria

The United States has deployed ships and aircraft for a possible attack on an air base in Syria, "but it is not planning to attack", as CNN reported, citing several anonymous sources.

The US is watching the Shayrat airbase, where the envisaged chemical attack may be carried out, which Washington promised to respond to. However, no suspicious activity on the base has occurred.

US Secretary of Defensem James Mattis said on Wednesday that, according to him, the Syrian authorities "took the warning seriously."

Comment: Typical American move: plan to attack, say you're not going to, get indignant when the target complains you're acting aggressively.

The Russian response:
Russia will respond adequately and in proportion if the US implement its threats against Damascus for allegedly preparing a chemical attack, as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"I very much hope that this time the United States will be guided by the need to really protect the non-proliferation of chemical weapons and not to speculate on the alleged intelligence, which comes from "secret sources". They cannot create pretexts for another blow to the forces of the Syrian army"- Lavrov said.

Business as usual: Israel-first Neocons are running Trump foreign policy

Ezra Cohen-Watnick
Ezra Cohen-Watnick calls final shots on Trump foreign policy, including issues of war and peace.
A powerful neocon cell is calling U.S. foreign policy shots in the Trump White House. Neocon describes those who put the interests of Israel ahead of those of the United States.

This cell, which receives its backing from presidential adviser Jared Kushner, Trump's special adviser on Middle East issues, has been behind two falsehoods concerning Syria's possession of chemical weapons. The first was trotted out in April when Trump authorized the launch of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles on Syria's Shayrat airbase, where Russian units were present, said to have been the launch point for a chemical attack on the town of Khan Sheikhoun. The U.S. attack killed some 90 people, including civilians.

The second lie about Syrian chemical weapons served as the basis for the recent White House warning to Syria, Russia, and Iran that action would be taken against them if there was another planned chemical attack on "civilians." Syria and Russia have denied such an attack was going to take place and have accused the Trump administration of fabricating video evidence that would be distributed prior to another U.S. attack on Syrian forces.

Neither U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson nor Defense Secretary James Mattis were briefed on the White House charges about Syrian chemical weapons prior to the issuance of the warning to Damascus. Tillerson is reportedly enraged over the White House neocon cell having final say in important foreign policy decisions and has gotten into shouting matches with Kushner and White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

Mysterious fliers threaten "white genocide" in San Diego

With the headline "Jobs Jobs Jobs," fliers have been popping up around Little Italy with racially charged language appearing to target white people.

10 News has obtained several variations of the flier. While the language varies slightly, they all use the same font and have similar themes.

Alyssa Ermann said she received one on her windshield in late April. It appeared to be a jobs flier, promising to "make you rich if you join us." Then it continued, "we are killing off the entire evil white race by making them addicted to cocaine, crack, spiked marijuana, spice, meth, heroin, hash, and other poisons, to kill them."
