Trump at 50% approval rating with guns and immigration policy boosts

Half of American voters approve of President Donald Trump's job performance, according to the latest survey by conservative pollster Rasmussen.

Trump's approval numbers have hovered in the low to mid-40s for much of the last year, but have rallied in recent months. His overall job approval rating is now ahead of where Barack Obama's was at this stage of his presidency.

These latest numbers come just hours after the president took to Twitter to blast Mexico for failing to do its part in stopping migration from Central America. In a series of tweets, Trump declared DACA "dead," called again for a border wall, and seemed to mix up Mexico's northern and southern borders.

Trump's stance on gun control also appears to have struck a chord with the public. Following an op-ed by a retired Supreme Court Justice calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment, Trump's vocal pro-gun response found favor with Americans. Despite anti-gun marches and round-the-clock television coverage, Rasmussen reported that most Americans outright reject repeal of the amendment.

Skripal case is work of UK intelligence, helps conceal failures at home - Russian ambassador to UK

Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Alexander Yakovenko on Sunday said that the so-called Skripal case is a false flag operation conducted by the UK secret services.

"This provocation has been carried out by UK secret services. We are not provided with any facts, they refuse to cooperate with us. Such a state of affairs brings us to the judgement that it is a provocation organized by secret services," Yakovenko told the NTV broadcaster.

The diplomat said that the provocation has been caused by two reasons, including the need to hide the fact that London had accepted almost all the conditions laid down by Brussels in the Brexit talks. The second reason is the intention to be a leader in the so-called deterrence of Russia and the need to gain the support of both parliament and people.

Comment: With its failing economy, bungled Brexit , crime waves both on the streets and by those in power, the UK clearly had more to gain from the Skirpal story, as did a few other nations in the Western bloc: See also:

US Presidents: Don't take their word for it, watch their actions instead

trump goal
President Trump has publicly announced that he is planning to withdraw US troops from Syria "like, very soon," something he has reportedly been saying in private for weeks now.

Predictably, partisan propaganda firms like CNN and the Washington Post have been reacting with horror to these sentiments, calling a US exit from Syria a "win for Russia", as though Syria is America's property that it would be signing over to someone else by the cessation of its illegal civilian-slaughtering occupation. The amazingly sycophantic Josh Rogin even went so far as to pen a screed saying that supporters of US interventionism in Syria should use the fact that withdrawal would hurt US oil interests to try and manipulate Trump into keeping troops there.

On the other side of the debate, the conservative anti-interventionists, antiwar leftists and anti-imperialist RT crowd have been cheering about the news, hoping it might mark a turning point in US foreign policy.

Comment: The US is the process of installing a military base in Syria, and it's unlikely they'll hand that over to the Syrian army. So no, it doesn't look like Trump will make good on that promise. But if they do, there's likely to be a more sinister reason than to simply 'bring the troops home'. See also:

What 1994's Operation Hades can tell us about the Skripal case

(This is a 'working thread' to collect various items related to the alleged 'Novichok' incident in Salisbury and the fate of the British spy Sergej Skripal and his daughter Yulia. For a wider overview of the case please check our longer write-ups linked at the end of this post.)

Time Cover August 29 1994
The Russian government sent fourteen specific questions to the British government and thirteen questions to the OPCW. There seems to be some French involvement in the investigation of the alleged nerve agent and Russia asks why that is the case.

Alexander Yakovenko, the Russian ambassador to Britain, further increased the pressure on Theresa May by publicly asserting that the Skripal case was a 'provocation' carried out by British intelligence.

Telepolis points out (in German) that this would not be the first time that a 'western' service would stage such a 'provocation'. The Skripal case is indeed quite comparable to Operation Hades.

On August 10 1994 German officials in Munich 'found' 363 grams of plutonium on a plane coming from Moscow. They immediately asserted, that the plutonium 'must' have come from a Russian reactor. There was a lot of media panic, international political noise and condemnation of Russia.

This put pressure on the Russian government to increase its security at its nuclear sites. The U.S. offered to 'help' with nuclear security and thus got easy access to Russia's nuclear secrets. The case broke in the mid of the federal election campaign in Germany and helped chancellor Kohl to get re-elected.

Months later first leaks appeared, enterprising reporters dug deeper into the story and it started to unravel.

Comment: Why would Russia need to conspire to bring down western civilization when the Brits are doing such a good job all on their own? The UK is becoming a laughingstock over this nonsense, if it wasn't already.

Trump doubles down on his challenge to US military leadership: "I want to get out of Syria, bring our troops home"

US President Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to pull the country's troops from Syria, explaining that the US military presence on Syria's soil benefited other countries more than Washington itself.

"Our primary mission in terms of that was getting rid of ISIS [Daesh]. We've almost completed that task and we'll be making a decision very quickly in coordination with others, as to what we'll do. Saudi Arabia is very interested in our decision " Trump stated during a press conference with the heads of three Baltic states. "I want to get out. I want to bring our troops home."

The president specified that he would consult with the US-led coalition allies on the military withdrawal, aimed, as he claimed, to rebuild the US.

The statement follows previous Trump's announcement made on April 29, pledging to allow United States' withdrawal from Syria "very soon" and "let the other people take care of it" instead. The surprising Trump's decision contradicted previous comments coming from his administration, including senior Pentagon and State Department officials, saying that American troops would maintain an open-ended presence in Syria.

Comment: It's quite the world we live in when Trump makes the most sense compared to his competition. The truth is, a decision to stay would be very, very stupid. But then again, the U.S. deep state is very, very stupid. Maybe these stories are relevant:

Labor executive: Anti-semitism row being stirred up to attack Jeremy Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn

Jeremy Corbyn's latest effort to draw a line under the antisemitism row that has rocked the Labour party has been overshadowed by the leftwing national executive committee member Christine Shawcroft's claim that it had been "stirred up" to attack him.

Shawcroft, who stepped down as chair of Labour's disputes panel on Wednesday after questioning the suspension of an alleged Holocaust denier, used a Facebook post on Friday to insist the issue was "being stirred up to attack Jeremy".

Her comments came to light just as Corbyn issued a conciliatory Passover message, conceding the party must "do better" in tackling antisemitism.

Trump refuses pardon for Russian pilot Yaroshenko

Russia's top human rights official has reported that the US president has officially refused to pardon Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was jailed for 20 years as a result of a sting operation by US special services.

Tatyana Moskalkova told RIA Novosti that Donald Trump wrote in response to her request that he had not found sufficient grounds to justify a pardon. She noted that she had to address the US leader directly because the US did not have a human rights ombudsman or an equivalent official.

The Russian ombudsman also said the US authorities had informed her that they had checked the conditions in which the Russian pilot is currently being kept, and found that they are were line with US standards. Last week, the Russian embassy in Washington released a statement expressing concern over reports that Konstantin Yaroshenko was being "tormented" in the prison where he is serving his term. It was alleged that he was being denied the right to exercise, and was banned from buying necessary foodstuffs and medication.

Weird NY sex cult NXIVM tied to Clinton Global Initiative, shady wannabe leader of Libya

Keith Raniere
This is a very long and detailed article. The tentacles reach all the way to Libya, as the Clinton Global Initiative is involved. Parts are difficult to believe, but they are all true. You will see many familiar names and some that are not so familiar; nevertheless, they are rising players in this world.

A recent arrest was made of someone I had never heard of, and as I watched an interview he had given to a young woman, I failed to sense the evil that has been unveiled to me. That protective quality is one of a charismatic and actually brilliant personality. But just as Lucifer was created by God and more beautiful than all the angels in heaven, he became an evil manipulator of mankind.

Thus, I compare this cult leader to Lucifer as he is both brilliant and evil. In the interview, this man spoke many words I agreed with, and I asked myself how such an intuitive and seemingly kind person could do such things as I have discovered. I realized that just as a snake in the grass is a beautifully patterned creature slithering by a flower, he is a deadly killer.

Keith Raniere, was arrested by federal officials in Mexico. He had fled there with several young women he had been associated with in his organization, NXIVM. According to federal officials, Raniere was charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit forced labor. However, that is just a small part of the story.

Comment: So basically, Clinton is tied to NXIVM via Nancy Salzman, Clare Bronfman, and Sara Bronfman. Sara is married to the millionaire son of a Libyan terrorist who hopes to rule Libya, the country which Clinton destroyed. More on NXIVM:

"The Chinese side came to let the Americans know about the close ties between the Russian and Chinese armed forces,"Wei said.

Macron: "Wake up!" Facebook, Google on the path to getting too big to be governed

Macron
© ReutersSorgt für eine Zuspitzung in Syrien: Der französische Präsident Emanuel Macron.
Emmanuel Macron, the French president, has warned that Google and Facebook are becoming too big to be governed and could face being dismantled.

Internet giants could be forced to pay for the disruption they cause in society and submit to French or European privacy regulations, he suggested.

In an interview with the magazine Wired, the president warned that artificial intelligence (AI) would challenge democracy and open a Pandora's box of privacy issues.

He was speaking after announcing a €1.5bn (£1.32bn) investment in artificial intelligence research to accelerate innovation and catch up with China and the US.

Mr Macron said companies such as Google and Facebook were welcome in France, brought jobs and were "part of our ecosystem".

But he warned: "They have a very classical issue in a monopoly situation; they are huge players. At a point of time - but I think it will be a US problem, not a European problem - at a point of time, your government, your people, may say, 'Wake up. They are too big.'

"Not just too big to fail, but too big to be governed. Which is brand new.

"So at this point, you may choose to dismantle. That's what happened at the very beginning of the oil sector when you had these big giants. That's a competition issue."
