The Alternative for Germany (AfD) Party is continuing its efforts to repatriate Syrian refugees, formally urging the German federal government and the EU to lift their debilitating economic sanctions against the Arab Republic.

Earlier this month at a party convention in Augsburg, AfD politicians passed a resolution calling for the lifting of EU economic sanctions against Syria in a bid to aid Damascus' ongoing efforts to stabilize the entirety of the country and provide adequate public services, according to a party press release sent to Sputnik reporter Suliman Mulhem.

The resolution was submitted by Dr. Christian Blex and a number of other party officials who visited Syria in March to assess the situation on the ground for themselves.

Comment: UN Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of the unilateral coercive measures Idriss Jazairy told Sputnik that he proposed to establish a special mechanism under the auspices of the United Nations, through which Damascus would be able to discuss the easing of the Western sanctions against Syria.
"I would like to propose the creation of a technical working group, with representatives from all parties placing sanctions on Syria, to find a way to enable sellers, financial intermediaries and humanitarians in Syria to do the work that is so desperately needed. One recommendation of this group could be the creation of a procurement office under the UN in Syria, that could quickly find solutions as they arise, and which could give comfort to banks and sellers that transactions being carried out would not violate any sanction regime," Jazairy said.

The Pentagon's new mission statement: neo-colonialism & hegemony exposed

The US has long sought to deny its hegemonic character while emphasizing its democratic character. It now seems all such pretence has been abandoned.

"False face must hide what the false heart doth know," Shakespeare writes, in words that for time immemorial should have sat pride of place under the Great Seal of the United States on front of the podium whenever any president, cabinet member, congressman, or indeed any US official proclaimed their country a champion of democracy.

Now, with the US Department of Defense amending the mission statement of the US military from a 'deter war' stance to a 'sustain American influence abroad' stance all pretense, as mentioned, is over, allowing the country's political and military elite to bask in the warm glow of hegemony unmasked.

Trump's existential threat to the Empire: Championing America First, talks with Putin, and the end of the garrison

trump putin handshake
© Whitehouse.govRussian President Vladimir Putin meets with U.S. President Donald Trump at the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, on July 7, 2017.
The major - perhaps only - redeeming virtue of the Donald's ersatz campaign platform was his clear intent to seek a rapprochement with Russia, revamp America's commitments to NATO and other cold war relics and to discard "Regime Change" as the core tenant of foreign policy. In essence, "America First" was to become the new route to domestic security and safety.

Those eminently sensible notions struck the Deep State's raison d'etre to the quick during the campaign; and by hook or crook, the Donald's rapid fire actions toward these objectives since April have induced a palpable shock in the Imperial City.

Comment: Actually, Mr. Stockman is wildly off here. It is in the US' interest to come to terms with Russia as its military capacity has far surpassed the US. Trump must be aware of this. Perhaps Stockman has missed it because Russia has managed the upgrades far more efficiently than the bloated US military contractors. Prolific spending does not equal increased capability.

Psycho-killer Madeline Albright calls Trump 'the most undemocratic president in modern American history'

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on Sunday called President Trump the "most undemocratic president in modern American history."

Albright made the comments on BBC while being questioned about Trump's strategies as a political leader and if he could be described as a "fascist."

"I don't think President Trump is a fascist," Albright said on "The Andrew Marr Show." "I do think he's the most undemocratic president in modern American history. That troubles me.

"By the way, it's not easy as a former diplomat to be in a foreign country and criticize one's own president. But I am concerned."

Vanessa Beeley: 'Dehumanized, discounted, marginalized' Syria's victors defying airbrushed US narrative

war in Syria

The war in Syria has lasted more than seven years, bringing with it a devastation and bloodshed which has thrown a prosperous and stable Middle Eastern nation into chaos and uncertainty.

In the West we are used to reading a history of such conflicts written by the victor. The imperialist narrative is the dominant one. History is distorted to preserve the perceived moral prowess of the conqueror.

The reality is this: A proud nation is brought to its knees by sanctions, hostile media attention and the inevitable military campaign waged directly or indirectly via proxy forces chosen from viable opposition elements. Power is multiplied by the US and her partners in the UK and France with assorted NATO-member vassal states hanging onto their coat tails.

SOTT Focus: Israel bows to Russia's will: Battle of South Syria coming to an end

daraa map

Comment: As we previously pointed out, all that hoopla about Russia 'secretly doing Israel's bidding in Syria' is complete bunk: the Syrian Army is clearing out ISIS et al from the southwestern region next to the Golan Heights - Israeli airstrikes against 'Iranian' targets be damned...

After only two weeks since the beginning of the military operation, jihadists and militants in most of eastern rural Daraa in south Syria have either surrendered or were overwhelmed, and over 70 villages they occupied were liberated by the Syrian Army. Meanwhile, Israel has reduced its requests or conditions pronounced in the last two weeks: from launching threats against the approach of the Syrian Army towards the South, to menaces if Damascus pushes forces beyond the 1974 demarcation line and the disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel. This clearly means all players (the US, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia) have dropped the jihadists and militants they were training and are turning their back on them: they are now on their own.

For over seven years, Israel has invested intelligence, finance, military and medical supplies in these jihadists and their allies. On many occasions, Israel has said it prefers the "Islamic State" to Iranian forces on the borders. Many times, Israel showed images of jihadists - including those fighting under the flag of al-Qaeda - in Israeli hospitals, recovering from wounds inflicted during their clashes with the forces of Damascus. Today, it is clear that Israel's intentions have been defeated when it can announce that for the Syrian army to cross the 1974 disengagement line it means crossing red lines. Israel is crying in the wilderness because the Syrian army has the intention and means to defeat all jihadists and militants who received supplies from foreign countries. It has never crossed Syria's mind to start a new war with Israel before the Syrian territory (in the north) is liberated.

Comment: And it's highly unlikely they'll start one once the north is liberated (though, God knows, they'd be justified in doing so).

Comment: From a strategic point of view, it certainly seems like Israel is losing the war on Syria. It is losing on many fronts, actually:

Why Israel's Expansionist and Ethnic-Cleansing Ambitions Will Fail

That doesn't necessarily mean its days of causing widespread suffering in the region are over, of course.

Meanwhile, here's a video of the Israeli/American/European weapons caches the Syrian Army found in ISIS hands in southwestern Syria in recent days.

The sheer volume is freaking ridiculous...

Flashback Obama DHS placed over a dozen migrant children with traffickers

The Department of Health and Human Services placed more than a dozen immigrant children in the custody of human traffickers after it failed to conduct background checks of caregivers, according to a Senate report released on Thursday.

Examining how the federal agency processes minors who arrive at the border without a guardian, lawmakers said they found that it had not followed basic practices of child welfare agencies, like making home visits.

The Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations opened its inquiry after law enforcement officials uncovered a human trafficking ring in Marion, Ohio, last year. At least six children were lured to the United States from Guatemala with the promise of a better life, then were made to work on egg farms. The children, as young as 14, had been in federal custody before being entrusted to the traffickers.

Thierry Meyssan: Trump's plan - total reorganization of global international relations

trump marine guard hat
When the backwash from the blades of the Presidential helicopter blew a Marine guard’s cap off, Donald Trump picked it up and put it back on his head.
The problem

In 1916, during the First World War, Lenin analysed the reasons which led to the confrontation between the empires of his time. He wrote - Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism. In this book, he clarified his analysis - « Imperialism is capitalism which has arrived at a stage of its development where domination by monopolies and financial capital has been confirmed, where the export of capital has acquired major importance, where the sharing of the world between international trusts has begun, and where the sharing of all the territories of the globe between the greatest capitalist countries has been achieved ».

The facts confirmed his logic of the concentration of capitalism that he described. In the space of one century, it substituted a new empire for the precedents - « America » (not to be confused with the American continent). By dint of mergers and acquisitions, a few multinational companies gave birth to a global ruling class which gathers every year to congratulate itself, as we watch, in Davos, Switzerland. These people do not serve the interests of the US population, and in fact are not necessarily United States citizens themselves, but use the means of the US Federal State to maximise their profits.

Donald Trump was elected as President of the United States on his promise to return to the earlier state of Capitalism, that of the « American dream, » by free market competition. We can of course claim a priori, as did Lenin, that such a reversal is impossible, but nonetheless, the new President has committed to this direction.

Best of the Web: Senator Shelby, head of US delegation to Moscow: 'We have to look at Russia as a superpower'

Despite the strained relations between Moscow and Washington, the US must see Russia as a superpower and seek dialogue, the head of a delegation of US lawmakers said after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The delegation headed by Senator Richard Shelby is in the Russian capital to pave the way for the upcoming meeting between President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

Shelby, who spoke to a journalist after meeting Lavrov, was non-committal about what he expected from the presidential meeting, but said the US should respect Russia.

"We have to look at Russia as a superpower, as a competitor and not an adversary, and we will see what happens," he said, adding that Trump and Putin are aiming at a productive negotiation. "I think they both a looking for a better day."
