Reveals they wanted to charge companies at least $250,000 per year for access to users' data

Damian Collins, the chairman of Parliament's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said there was a 'considerable public interest' in the papers

A huge dossier of secret documents about the Facebook data scandal was published by British MPs today in defiance of a US court order.

The trove of emails and private messages, which was was seized by MP Damian Collins last month, reveals how Facebook wanted to leverage companies into spending big on advertising in return for access to user data.

Comment: Of course FB did all this (and more, no doubt). It's free to use!

But there's always a price. And in this digital age, the currency is data. Lots of data. Like, ALL your data now belongs to us.

Charging FB for selling data to Cambridge Analytica is like handing out speeding tickets at a Formula 1 race-track.

So what does that tell us?

That this whole spiel is thoroughly contrived because the spooks and investors behind FB are pissed off because social media users on FB and other platforms 'snuck behind their backs' to share 'fake news' (actually, far more real than the 'news' that comes through official bullhorns), which contributed to informing them and electing Donald Trump.

Leave.eu branded 'anti-Semitic' for pointing out Soros interference in Brexit

Leave.eu, the Brexit campaign group co-founded by Aaron Banks have been accused of indulging in anti-Semitism, after tweeting a comment from a Tory Brexiteer MP with an image of George Soros, the pro-remain billionaire financier.

The organisation, which campaigned for the UK to leave the EU during the lead up to the 2016 referendum, published the controversial tweet in which they warn "there's a concerted effort to thwart the will of the people."

Attached to the tweet is an image of Maria Caulfield, beside a ghost-like image of George Soros, and a quote from the MP, reading: "...the powerful elite seem to know best and openly mock the rest of us."

Comment: It's not anti-semitic not to like someone who happens to be Jewish. Soros publicly announced he would fund anti-Brexit initiatives - both legal and PR ones. So it's not defamation to put his name/face to that campaign. This woman, by playing the 'anti-Semitism' card and linking Soros to the 'Jews run the world' conspiracy theory, is herself being anti-Semitic.

US foolishly gives ultimatum to Russia on INF treaty - Putin calls it 'ill-considered'

The US ultimatum on the INF treaty is part and parcel of what Washington throws at Russia - from the Kerch Strait and the Skripals, to meddling in elections - that is not constructive, former American diplomat Jim Jatras said.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has given Moscow an ultimatum over its alleged violations of a key nuclear missile treaty, saying Russia has two months to show it is complying with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) before Washington pulls out.

While the US has previously accused Russia of building missiles in violation of the treaty, Moscow denies all the allegations, and in turn claims American missile defense systems in Europe, officially installed to counter Iran and North Korea, could easily be used offensively against Russia.

Comment: The day after Pompeo delivered the ultimatum, Putin responded:
"They are looking for someone to blame for this...ill-considered step," Putin told journalists in Moscow, adding that "no evidence of violations on our part has been provided."

It is "simplest" for the United States to say, 'Russia is to blame,'" Putin said. "This is not so. We are against the destruction of this treaty."

"What will be the response from our side? Very simple: We will also do this," he said, indicating that Russia will no longer abide by the treaty if the United States withdraws.
Putin also made the reasonable claim that the US had long planned to back out of the INF Treaty and was seeking justifications for doing so:
"Mr Pompeo's statement came a bit late," Vladimir Putin responded on Wednesday. "At first, the American side did announce its intent to withdraw from the INF Treaty, and then they started seeking justifications as to why they should do it."

Congress authorized funding research and development efforts to build new missile systems "before Washington announced withdrawal from the INF," Putin believes. "The decision had been made some time ago, but quietly - they thought we wouldn't notice it." However, developing new types of short-and intermediate-range missiles was an open secret as "it was set out in the Pentagon's budget."

"Next, they started to look for someone to blame," the Russian leader went on. "The easiest thing is [to tell] the Western public that 'Russia is guilty'."

"They weren't shy [about it], they calmly pulled out of it - by the way, without any reference to anything," the President recalled. He likened it to what is happening now, adding that Americans "are figuring out who to blame for this reckless move."
The Chief of Russia's General Staff Valery Gerasimov pointed out that countries hosting US systems would become targets for Russia if the US leaves INF:
"As military professionals, you should understand that not the US territory, but the countries hosting US systems with intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles will become targets for Russia's retaliatory steps"

Liam Fox accuses Remain MPs of trying to 'steal Brexit from the people'

Liam Fox
Liam Fox has accused the House of Commons of trying to "steal" Brexit from the British public.

The international trade secretary said the extraordinary events in parliament on Tuesday, in which the government suffered historic defeats on Brexit, were an insult to voters.

"I think there is a real danger that the House of Commons, which is a natural remain majority, may attempt to steal Brexit from the British people, which I think would be a democratic affront," he told MPs on the international trade committee.

Conservative writer Corsi files criminal complaint against Mueller for pressuring him to give 'false testimony'

Conservative author Jerome Corsi on Monday filed a "criminal and ethics complaint" against Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team, accusing investigators of trying to bully him into giving "false testimony" against President Trump.

The complaint, which Corsi had threatened for days, is the latest escalation between Mueller's team and its investigation targets.

The 78-page document, asserting the existence of a "slow-motion coup against the president," was filed to a range of top law enforcement officials including Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, D.C.'s U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu and the Bar Disciplinary Counsel.

Congress needs to grill James Comey on the FBI working with Ukraine to interfere in 2016 election

Now that Congress has negotiated a deal for James Comey to testify, they need to buckle down and get ready to ask a hostile witness questions about a shocking, but undisputed, story.

In August, 2016 the government of Ukraine, who were working directly with James Comey's FBI, released unsubstantiated accusations against Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort that led to his resignation five days later. Further, these allegations were made by a Ukrainian political operative working with two of Hillary Clinton's billionaire financial backers.

This isn't conspiracy theory or wild accusation. It's the truth and it's been hiding in plain sight since August, 2016. It was reported in the New York Times, albeit with significant omissions.

Fake News: Reuters misses the target as it spreads fear on Iran expanding missile range

missiles
© RuptlyIranian missiles come in different flavors
All is fair in love and war, or when you want to do a little scaremongering. Reuters sounded the alarm on Iran's efforts to boost the range of its missiles, while completely missing what missiles they were.

The story ran by the news agency on Wednesday cited Iran's Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh as saying: "One of our most important programs is increasing the range of missiles and ammunition," and "We don't see any limitations for ourselves in this field."

Sounds scary? Sure, because, Reuters added, the Iranian military say the range of their missiles is 2,000km and it is enough to target "US bases in Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, plus US aircraft carriers in the Gulf." It's so scary that the US deemed it a good reason to pull out of the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran.

The only problem with this leap of logic is that General Nasirzadeh leads Iran's Air Force (which Reuters did mention) and that he was speaking about Iranian air-to-air missiles (which Reuters omitted). Air-to-air missiles are fired by aircraft and hit aircraft, not "bases in Afghanistan and aircraft carriers in the Gulf."

IDF operation against Hezbollah tunnels is all popcorn - Bibi needs a distraction from bribery case against him and his wife

idf hezbollah tunnels
Israel just announced the beginning of "Operation Northern Shield" to "destroy Hezbollah cross-border tunnels that pose an imminent threat to the safety of Israel". Israel sent its Special Forces to protect its army engaged in searching for tunnels in case of a military reaction from Hezbollah. On the other side of the border, Hezbollah mobilised its troops and Special Forces, "al-Ridwan", as a normal procedure should Israel cross the borders or turn its operation into an aggression against Lebanon. The Hezbollah mobilisation is visible to Israeli eyes and ears, invisible to the inhabitants of south Lebanon.

Well informed sources said "Israel is feeling the ground has been shaking for some time because Hezbollah is preparing for a possible future war. The Israeli procedure is, therefore, both defensive and preventive, for fear of surprises promised by the secretary general of Hezbollah Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah. Sayyed Nasrallah has said he "will move the battle in Israel rather than fight only in Lebanon".

Comment: Miko Peled agrees with Magnier's assessment:
"When [Avigdor] Lieberman, the previous defense minister, resigned, he handed Netanyahu a wonderful gift, which is the Ministry of Defense, and now Netanyahu is defense minister, as well as many other things," Peled told Radio Sputnik's Loud & Clear. "Being defense minister allows him to parade and portray himself as this military expert," he added.

"Yesterday, if you look at the Israeli papers, there was some mention of the corruption charges. Today, it's all southern Lebanon, it's all Hezbollah, it's all pictures of Netanyahu with his senior security staff, with the generals and so-forth. So this is a great PR and political gift that he got when Lieberman resigned, and now he's making use of it," Peled told Loud & Clear hosts John Kiriakou and Brian Becker. "And of course the police chief who recommended that Netanyahu be indicted was just fired."
The Lebanese Army released the following statement:
Everything is calm and peaceful on the Lebanese side [of the border], the situation is under full control. The army units deployed in the area are fulfilling their tasks in coordination with the UN Interim Force in order to prevent any provocation and maintain stability in the southern region. The command pointed out that the army was ready for any emergency situations.
The army remains in contact with both Israel and Hezbollah.

Netanyahu, never one to shy away from going full Pravda in his propaganda, is calling for an 'urgent' meeting of the UNSC over the tunnel issue.

Moscow, meanwhile, just hopes that the Israeli operation doesn't breach existing UNSC resolutions. Israel may not like it, but they are bound by international law to behave like semi-decent humans.

US General: Activation of Russian S-400 missile systems increases threat to US troops

The possible activation of Russia's S-400 missile systems in Syria would pose a growing threat to US troops and US-led Coalition forces, said Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, appointed chief of the US Central Command to the Senate from the USA.

"The S-400, once activated, will increase the threat to our forces and our coalition partners flying over Syria," he said. "We are still working out on how it is going to be executed."

Russia has installed S-400 mobile rocket batteries at Khmeimim air base in Syria but has not yet activated defense systems.

The S-400 is the state-of-the-art mobile defense system that can carry three different types of missiles capable of destroying a wide variety of air targets, from reconnaissance aircraft to ballistic missiles.

Trump suggests China should use death penalty for distributors of deadly fentanyl

President Trump suggested that China crack down on the exports of deadly synthetic opioid Fentanyl by using the death penalty, saying the results would be "incredible"

After a meeting between the two leaders at last weekend's G20 summit in Argentina, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to stop the flow of Fentanyl into the US. "If China cracks down on this 'horror drug,'" Trump tweeted on Wednesday, "using the Death Penalty for distributors and pushers, the results will be incredible!"

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that can be 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. Imported Fentanyl, some from China, has fueled the US' opioid crisis and was responsible for nearly 30,000 of America's 72,000 overdose deaths in 2017.
