Government party leader blasts 'irresponsible' comments by German DM, after her call for NATO to 'threaten' Russia

Calls for confrontation with Russia made by the German defense minister were careless and inflammatory, the head of one of the country's governing coalition parties has said, after Berlin told NATO to brazenly threaten Moscow.

On Monday, the parliamentary chairman of Germany's Social Democratic Party (SDP), Rolf Mützenich, accused Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, who is in charge of the country's military forces, of making provocative comments. According to him, NATO threatening Russia with its nuclear forces would fan the flames of the worsening international relations between Moscow and the US-led bloc. He said:
"The Defense Minister's recent conclusions about the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a conflict with Russia are irresponsible. Mrs. Kramp-Karrenbauer['s comments are] no different from the equally unfounded threats from the Russian side."
Mützenich added that such statements contributed to the "spiral of escalation."

Comment: Russia does not take threats lightly but chooses to diplomatically engage:
Russian officials have held an urgent meeting with the German Embassy's military attaché in Moscow, expressing concern at a series of comments by the country's defense minister that they say may worsen already fraught relations. Kramp-Karrenbauer told radio station Deutschlandfunk that nuclear weapons could be deployed over the Baltic nations that border Russia.

In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry of Defense revealed that, earlier that day, Berlin's envoy "was asked to appear before the Main Directorate for Military Co-Operation."

During the meeting,
"attention was drawn to the remarks made by German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer on nuclear deterrence against Russia, and a diplomatic note was handed over."
Kramp-Karrenbauer's comments have also drawn criticism from members of Germany's coalition government, with Rolf Mützenich, the parliamentary chair of the Social Democratic Party, blasting them as unhelpful:
"The defense minister's recent conclusions about the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a conflict with Russia are irresponsible. Mrs. Kramp-Karrenbauer['s comments are] no different from the equally unfounded threats from the Russian side. Such statements contributed to the "spiral of escalation."
Posturing takes all kinds of forms, but the uncalibrated directness of the German Defense Minister's threat has come close to crossing an unforgivable line.

If EU 'starts WW3' against Poland by withholding promised funding, Warsaw will defend itself with 'any weapons available'

Morawiecki

Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki has warned the EU against acting "with a gun to our heads," claiming Warsaw would defend itself by any means available if the EU launched a "third World War" by holding back Covid-19 recovery funding.

The strongly worded statement came after the European Commission threatened to leave Poland without billions in grants and loans as a response to a controversial decision by the country's Constitutional Tribunal, which prioritized national laws over those of the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

Morawiecki, when asked by the Financial Times if Poland could now veto important legislation such as the EU's landmark climate package, said:
"What will happen if the European Commission starts a third World War? ... We are going to defend our rights with any weapons which are at our disposal. We feel this is already discriminatory and a diktat type of approach [by Brussels]. But if it's going to get even worse, we'll have to think through our strategy."
The prime minister described the European Commission's withholding of the €36-billion grant for post-pandemic rebuilding as a "breach of the rule of law," and said Poles would not "surrender." In order to find a compromise, he added, the EU should reverse its recent decision to fine Warsaw daily until it implemented ECJ decisions regarding its judicial reform. He further claimed:
"This would be the wisest thing they can do because then we are not talking to each other with a gun to our head. This very situation creates a relative lack of our appetite for any further actions."
Morawiecki nonetheless summed up his recent talks with EU leaders - including outgoing German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen - as "very satisfying," and stated that, despite the aforementioned disagreement, there was no risk of "Polexit."

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that his country wants to see relations with Russia improve despite recent tensions over alleged poisonings on British soil, as part of diplomatic outreach to bolster environmental efforts.

On Monday, in his first two-way call with his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin in a year and a half, Johnson said that two nations have a responsibility to work together. A statement from Downing Street released after the conversation said that the British prime minister "was clear that the UK's current relationship with Russia is not the one we want."

However, at the same time, "significant bilateral difficulties remain, including the poisonings in Salisbury in 2018," Downing Street said. "The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of Ukrainian sovereignty."

Comment: If the UK's track record is anything to go by, it will continue to take what it can from Russia - such as desperately needed, cheap, gas - whilst also antagonizing the country when the establishment behind the scenes commands it; and they'll expect Russia to just accept that as their 'better relations': Also check out SOTT radio's: NewsReal: World on the Brink - Mass Acceptance of Tyranny Augurs Doom

Authoritarian monsters wreak havoc on our freedoms

They Live
© A Government of Wolves
"You see them on the street. You watch them on TV. You might even vote for one this fall. You think they're people just like you. You're wrong. Dead wrong." — They Live
We are living in an age of mayhem, madness and monsters.

Monsters with human faces walk among us. Many of them work for the U.S. government.

What we are dealing with today is an authoritarian beast that has outgrown its chains and will not be restrained.

Through its acts of power grabs, brutality, meanness, inhumanity, immorality, greed, corruption, debauchery and tyranny, the government has become almost indistinguishable from the evil it claims to be fighting, whether that evil takes the form of terrorism, torture, disease, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, murder, violence, theft, pornography, scientific experimentations or some other diabolical means of inflicting pain, suffering and servitude on humanity.

We have let the government's evil-doing and abuses go on for too long.

We have bought into the illusion and refused to grasp the truth.

We're being fed a series of carefully contrived fictions that bear no resemblance to reality.

We're living in two worlds: the world we see (or are made to see) and the one we sense (and occasionally catch a glimpse of), the latter of which is a far cry from the propaganda-driven reality manufactured by the government and its corporate sponsors, including the media.

Indeed, what most Americans perceive as life in America — privileged, progressive and free — is a far cry from reality, where economic inequality is growing; pandemic lockdowns (both mental and physical), real agendas and real power are buried beneath layers of Orwellian doublespeak and corporate obfuscation; and "freedom," such that it is, is meted out in small, legalistic doses by militarized police armed to the teeth.

The powers-that-be want us to feel threatened by forces beyond our control (terrorists, shooters, bombers, disease, etc.).

They want us afraid and dependent on the government and its militarized armies for our safety and well-being.

They want us distrustful of each other, divided by our prejudices, and at each other's throats.

Most of all, they want us to continue to march in lockstep with their dictates.

Online Media: The Promise and the Peril

Online Media
© Corbett Report
In the space of just two generations, we have transitioned from a world where most people subscribed to newspapers and adjusted the bunny ears on their TV sets to receive their nightly news broadcast to a world where most people browse social media posts from around the world and stream the latest news reports directly to their phone. You don't have to go out on a limb to suggest that the "online revolution" that has taken place in the 21st century is at least as dramatic (if not more so) than the Gutenberg printing press revolution itself.

But those of us who have been pondering the nature of this online revolution might be premature in making any final pronouncements on its ultimate significance. As it turns out, the real revolution might still be in the works . . . and this revolution threatens to alter society so drastically that it could transform humanity itself.

If you've got your eyes peeled for such things, you'll have already noticed the PR propaganda roll-out pimping this coming transformation.

Case in point: Facebook's name change. In case you hadn't heard, as of next week, Facebook will no longer be known as Facebook. At least, that's what The Verge is reporting, telling us that "Facebook is planning to change its company name next week to reflect its focus on building the metaverse, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter."

So what is the "metaverse?" And what does the hype surrounding this next digital revolution tell us about the kind of world that's coming into view?

Let's start our exploration by looking at the history of the online revolution so far and how it has already altered the course of our civilization.

Poll: Biden is the 'most disappointing' American president since World War II

Comment: Guess 'major disaster' wasn't tick-box option.

Joe Biden has achieved at least one groundbreaking result - though likely not the sort that he had in mind - as polling indicates that he has lost the most ground in voter approval of any new US president in more than 75 years.

With only 42% of voters approving of Biden's job performance in October, his average rating in the third quarter of his presidency was 44.7%, down from 56% during his first three months in the White House, a new Gallup poll showed. His rating decline of 11.3 percentage points from the honeymoon period to the nine-month mark is the biggest drop since fellow Democrat Harry Truman was trying to fill the shoes of his deceased predecessor, Franklin Roosevelt, in 1945.

Former IDF general states the obvious: Bombing AP tower in Gaza in May was a 'self-inflicted' PR disaster

A former Israeli general on Sunday said the Israel Defense Forces' bombing of a tower that housed The Associated Press in the Gaza Strip during May's conflict amounted to an "own goal," causing more damage to Israel's image than it provided operational benefit.

"Bringing down the tower with the AP offices was equivalent to a self-inflicted 'public relations terror attack' and an own goal, in our view," said Maj. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon, the former head of IDF Operations.

Alon, who led the military's investigation into the public relations-related issues connected to the recent conflict, was referring to a May 15 strike on the 12-story Al-Jalaa tower in Gaza City, which sparked immediate criticism from around the world, including from American lawmakers who have long been staunch advocates for Israel.

Creepy Joe's "come on, man" defense will not fly on religious freedom

Joe Biden

The president has dismissed any objections to the Covid vaccine and called or mass firings of first responders who remain defiant. The comments reflect a growing call for states and the federal government to reject any religious exemptions for vaccination.

"Come on, man," seems to be President Biden's signature response to any uncomfortable question. The phrase is meant to be both dismissive and conclusive in ending inquiries, frequently used to counter reporters before often walking away. Indeed, it is so often repeated that it appears on T-Shirts or coffee mugs and in remixes.

This week, however, it was not the pesky press but freedom itself that got hit with a version of the comeback. When asked during a CNN town hall program about those still objecting to taking COVID vaccines, Biden mocked them and their claimed rights with "Come on, 'freedom.' " He then called for any police officers, firefighters, medical personnel or other first responders to be fired en masse if they refuse to be vaccinated.

Comment: Some states have been happy to be a battering ram for the Fed against bodily integrity. "My body, my choice' only seems to apply when it suits the PTB. Fortunately, there are still courts that recognize citizens' Constitutional rights.

U.S. Government had hired Wuhan Laboratory to create SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19 disease

fauci lab leak coverup
© Fox News/ Screenshot
On October 23rd, the Zero Hedge news site broke to the public direct evidence, from an anonymous leaker, showing that the U.S. Government has been lying to say that it had not been funding research to find, in animal populations, viruses that could then be manipulated in laboratories to a "gain of [viral] function" (unnaturally increased communicability, and deadliness, to humans).

Back on 21 September 2021, a pro-imperialist (war-loving — especially against China) UK newspaper, The Telegraph, had headlined "Wuhan scientists planned to release coronavirus particles into cave bats, leaked papers reveal: Documents reveal researchers applied for $14m to fund controversial project in 2018", but provided no useful links to any relevant evidence, and offered only few details. However, the 21 October 2021 Zero Hedge blockbuster news-report, headlined "NIH Admits Funding Gain-Of-Function COVID Experiments; Gives EcoHealth Five Days To Report Data", was far more detailed, and included links to all of its evidence, and is therefore the big breakthrough on this enormous news-story.

Unlike the Telegraph's headline, which misleadingly pretends that this is solely a matter of culpability by China's Government, and which made no reference to the research's foreign funding (by the U.S. Government), the Zero Hedge news-report makes very clear that this research had been funded by the U.S. Government. Those funds, and U.S. Government intentions, were paying the Wuhan China biological laboratory to do this research, to find whether and how animal viruses in nature could be manipulated in a laboratory to become communicable to, and deadly to, humans ("gain of function"). Zero Hedge also provided, by way of links, the direct evidence that the U.S. Government has been lying, all along, to deny that they had had anything to do with any such "gain of [viral] function" research.

Comment: This was not 'anonymously leaked to ZeroHedge' - it was leaked to members of Congress. So we don't understand why the author is crediting ZH with 'amazing breakthrough reporting'. ZH was hysterically pro-Covid for MONTHS in 2020, and it has generally followed the CIA/MSM's lead in blaming China for it.

In any event, the ZH article in question is a decent summary of the scandal involving Fauci's NIH and gain-of-function virus research. That political psychopath is now officially outed as having lied about his involvement in such.

SOTT Focus: Anthony Fauci Has Been Abusing Animals For 40 Years

Anthony Fauci
The stuff you've seen on social media barely scratches the surface.

Update: A statement from the University of Georgia is included as an addendum.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the division of the National Institutes of Health run by Anthony Fauci, funded a recent experiment in Tunisia in which lab technicians placed sedated beagles' heads in mesh cages and allowed starved sand flies to feast on them alive. Then they repeated the test outdoors, with the beagles placed in cages in the desert overnight for nine consecutive nights, in an area of Tunisia where sand flies were abundant and ZVL, the disease caused by the parasite that the sand flies carry, was "endemic."

The experiment was just one of countless tests done on animals with the funding of the NIH, and of NIAID in particular, over the course of decades. Estimates of the number of animals experimented on each year in the United States range from the tens of millions to over 100 million, most of them paid for with taxpayer money. The White Coat Waste Project, a non-profit that advocates against federal animal testing, says that more than 1,100 dogs are experimented on in federal labs annually.

Comment: While animal testing can be of use in specific circumstances, repeatedly torturing them after yielding little to no results is a sure sign of pathological thinking.

Update: Here is a statement from the University of Georgia about the UGA experiment described in the story:
This particular research is being conducted on a potential vaccine, developed at another institution, that would protect humans against a disease that afflicts approximately 120 million people worldwide. Under federal rules, a vaccine must be tested in two animal species before it can be cleared for human clinical trials.

When NIAID decided to fund this research, the agency determined that the research needed to be conducted on a dog model. According to researchers at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine, beagles are the standard dog model used in this type of research. Because this disease currently has no cure, unfortunately the animals that are part of this trial must be euthanized. We do not take lightly the decision to use such animals in some of our research.

Nearly every advancement in medicine, medical devices and surgical procedures has depended on research involving animal subjects. The university adheres to all of the humane standards of the Animal Welfare Act; the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals; the National Research Council Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals; policies of the university as well as the University System of Georgia; and other guiding organizations.

Additionally, the university has earned and maintains third-party accreditation from AAALAC International.

Over the decades, UGA research has advanced the development of treatments that improve the lives of people, pets and other animals. These include treatments for:

- Breast and other cancers.

- Infectious diseases such as rabies, Zika, hepatitis B, influenza and coronavirus.

- Neurological disorders, such as stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

- Chronic diseases such as hypertension and obesity.
Update 2: Contrary to UGA's claims, Amy Meyer points to recent violations of the Animal Welfare Act at the university:
