McCarthy: Schiff 'lied' about Hunter Biden's emails, won't be on Intel committee in GOP House

Rep. Adam Schiff
House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said Friday that Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff won't be a member of the House Intelligence committee that he leads if the GOP takes control of the chamber - saying he "lied" about Hunter Biden's emails and other critical matters.

"No, he doesn't warn us about Ukraine or Afghanistan or what's happening around the world," McCarthy said about the California Democrat. "He tells you about politics, but the worst part of it is you cannot trust what he tells you, that he lies to us.

Democrats and others during the 2020 presidential race between President Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden dismissed the validity of a laptop belonging to Biden's son Hunter Biden and the emails found on it.

Comment: If the GOP pull off a mid-term sweep, this is really big. Schiff has ruled the Intelligence Committee for years and was a key player in advancing the Russia collusion hoax.

Fierce fighting engulfs Mariupol as Russia demands Ukraine surrender city - Turkey says 'close agreement' in negotiations

Russia has given Ukrainian forces a Monday deadline to surrender control of the besieged port city of Mariupol, the scene of some of the heaviest fighting since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine more than three weeks ago.

In a statement carried by Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, Moscow's defence ministry said it was opening humanitarian corridors out of Mariupol from 10am local time on Monday and told Ukrainian forces defending the city to lay down their arms and leave. It demanded Kyiv respond in writing to its ultimatum by 5am on Monday.

Russia — which has framed its invasion as a "special operation" to "liberate" Ukraine — claimed Kyiv was using "Nazis", "foreign mercenaries" and "bandits" to hold up to 130,000 civilians hostage. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, it has denied any responsibility for the overwhelming civilian casualties in Mariupol and blamed them on "provocations" by Ukrainian nationalists.

Comment: "Overwhelming evidence" - with no sources cited or links to evidence. Good journalism.

The ultimatum came as fierce fighting engulfed Mariupol on Sunday, with Russian forces tightening their grip and bombing a school where about 400 residents were sheltering.

Comment: Given the fact that Azov are blowing up theaters and shooting escaping civilians, please forgive us for being skeptical.

The eastern port city has been devastated by relentless shelling, with whole neighbourhoods reduced to piles of smouldering rubble. Electricity, gas and water have been cut off and trapped residents are without food.

Bad Guys

Has the New York Times signaled the end of the road for the Big Guy?

biden laptop
In October 2020, prior to the election, Hunter Biden's laptop was left unclaimed at a repair shop and turned over to the FBI. Yaacov Apelbaum has covered at length the Biden family corruption, their crooked international dealings, pornographic images of Hunter and others, evidence of Hunter's drug use, and the coverup of his and the Biden family's corruption which he found on the laptop and elsewhere on the internet. (Warning, images in these reports are not for the faint-hearted.)

The New York Post, without all these sordid details and photographs, reported the story in that same month before the election. But in the face of widespread denial, the story got little coverage. It is only now almost two years later, that the New York Times confirms that the Post's reporting on the laptop was accurate.

Сold War-style UK psyop unit targeting Russians through social media platforms

The Government Information Cell is reportedly reaching Russian social media users to show the UK's view of the conflict in Ukraine

Britain is utilizing its new so-called counter-disinformation unit to buy ads on Russian social media to disseminate London's view on the conflict in Ukraine, the Telegraph claimed on Saturday. The Government Information Cell (GIC) is operated between the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office, the first such unit since the end of the Cold War. The social media platform mentioned in the article has refuted reports that it showed British government ads.

The unit's "crucial audiences" are in Russia and Ukraine, the article highlights. After Moscow blocked Twitter and Facebook, the Telegraph reports, the GIC has turned to advertising agencies to "target" Russian users on sites such as VK, the country's most popular domestic social media platform. The tech firm's press service has already refuted the claim, telling Russian news site RBC that "all ads go through verification and have to follow VK's and Russia's law." The website rules in any case prohibit political ads.

Comment: Old tactics, new outlets.

Can't stand the heat: Psaki dodges Hunter Biden questions in White House presser

'I think we're done here'

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made it clear during Friday's briefing that she was not interested in fielding questions about President Joe Biden's embattled son Hunter.

The New York Post's Steven Nelson began by asking about The New York Times report confirming that Hunter Biden was still embroiled in a criminal investigation, asking whether the White House would be at all involved in that case as it proceeds.

"The New York Times reported this week that the First Son [Hunter Biden] remains under criminal investigation. Does the president still intend to stay out of that case?" Nelson asked.

"Yes," Psaki replied. "It's the Department of Justice and I would point you to them."

Best of the Web: Was bombing of Mariupol theater staged by Ukrainian Azov extremists to trigger NATO intervention?

azov mariupol theater
Testimony by evacuated Mariupol residents and warnings of a false flag attack undermine the Ukrainian government's claims about a Russian bombing of a local theater sheltering civilians.

Western media have reported that Russia's military deliberately attacked the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama theater in Mariupol, Ukraine, claiming that it was filled with civilians and marked with signs reading "children" on its grounds.

The supposed bombing took place just as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to US Congress for a no fly zone, fueling the chorus for direct military confrontation with Russia and apparently inspiring President Joseph Biden to brand Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, as a "war criminal."

A closer look reveals that local residents in Mariupol had warned three days before the March 16 incident that the theater would be the site of a false flag attack launched by the openly neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, which controlled the building and the territory around it.

Civilians that escaped the city through humanitarian corridors have testified that they were held by Azov as human shields in area, and that Azov fighters detonated parts of the theater as they retreated. Despite claims of a massive Russian airstrike that reduced the building to ashes, all civilians appear to have escaped with their lives.

Video of the attack on the theater remains unavailable at the time of publication; only photographs of the damaged structure can be viewed. The Russian Ministry of Defense has denied conducting an airstrike on the theater, asserting that the site had no military value and that no sorties were flown in the area on March 16.

Russia comments on normalization of ties with West

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has made it clear that Moscow will not propose initiatives to normalize relations with the West at this point.

On Saturday, Lavrov announced:
"While Russia was open to cooperation with any countries, including Western ones, Moscow is not going to 'propose any initiatives' aimed at normalizing relations with the West. Russia will wait and see how they will be finding a way out of this dead end they have driven themselves into.

"Even regardless of the situation around Ukraine and sanctions, the West's behavior just goes to show that it is an unreliable partner."
On top of that, Russia's top diplomat argued that the recent freezing of Russia's central bank's assets illustrates that other countries' reserves could potentially be "simply stolen" too.

Comment: Without a 'come to reason' epiphany and policy u-turn, this could be the West's last hurrah.

White House mum on Hunter Biden story as DOJ acquires additional financial records

Psaki
© Getty ImagesWhite House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
In the aftermath of the New York Times admitting that the Hunter Biden laptop was authentic all along, the Biden White House has gone into radio silence — and few reporters are pressing the President for an answer. White House press secretary Jen Psaki previously spread the false claim that the laptop was Russian disinformation (as did President Biden). She is now saying that it would be inappropriate for her to address her prior comments on the scandal. Thankfully, there has been no run to the local ice cream store but this cone of silence is occurring as reports come out of additional evidence acquired on Hunter Biden in the ongoing criminal investigation.

Psaki was not as reticent when she was spreading the false story (in contradiction to the findings of American intelligence) that this was a hoax. She declared
"I think it's broadly known and widely known that there was a broad range of Russian disinformation back in 2020."
Now that her statements (and those of the president) are recognized as untrue, Psaki will not entertain questions, responding "I'd point you to the Department of Justice and Hunter Biden's representatives." Of course, the Justice Department will not comment on pending investigations. However, the question was about her own role in spreading, ironically, disinformation.

Comment: Scandal for scandal, Hunter has given Joe 'a run for the money'.

Syria was expelled from the 22-member Arab League and boycotted by its neighbours after the conflict there broke out 11 years ago.

President Bashar Assad of Syria has travelled to the United Arab Emirates, marking his first visit to an Arab country since Syria's civil war erupted in 2011, the country's presidency office said.

In a statement posted on its social media pages, the presidency office says Assad met Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai, on Friday.

SpyGate 101: A primer on the 'Russia Collusion' hoax meant to bring down Trump

For those who care about our country's future but don't want to be buried in the minutia of the Russia collusion hoax scandal, here is your big-picture primer.

As Special Counsel John Durham continues to expose more details of the "SpyGate" or "Russia collusion" scandal, it can be difficult for any apolitical, non-news-junkie member of the public to grasp the ongoing developments.

After all, for more than five years, the corrupt legacy media has refused to report on scandal or done so with a slanted portrayal of the facts. So most Americans remain unaware of the Democrats' years-long duplicity that sought to destroy first candidate and then President Donald Trump. Add to that reality the overlapping conspiracies and sprawling cast of characters involved, and it can be difficult to follow the story.

That the scandal is dense, however, does not mean it should be ignored. To the contrary, the duplicity must not be disregarded because what Trump's political enemies tried to accomplish over the course of five years represents the biggest threat our constitutional republic has seen in the last century.
