A Palestinian source yesterday denied Israeli reports that an Egyptian-Palestinian-Israeli agreement had been made to extract gas off the Gaza Strip, describing them as "inaccurate".

The source, who preferred not to be named, told the Anadolu news agency that consultations with Egypt on developing the field did not mention the Israeli side at all.
"We will not pay Israel to extract what belongs to us. This is unacceptable. Israel is required not to obstruct the work only."
On Monday, the Palestinian government announced the formation of a ministerial committee to follow up with the Palestinian Investment Fund on concluding an agreement with Egypt to finance and operate the Palestinian gas field off the Gaza Strip, known as the Gaza Marine Field.

Comment: Once again Israel is usurping a Palestinian asset.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she will end the partnership her province's health authority has with the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Her remarks came during a livestream on Western Standard's "Question Period with Premier Danielle Smith" program on Oct. 21, where she said she holds the Alberta Health Services (AHS) accountable for its COVID-19 advice to the government of Alberta over the last two years, and that its ties with the WEF serve no purpose to the province.

"I believe that Alberta Health Services is the source of a lot of problems that we've had," Smith said.

"They signed some kind of partnership with the World Economic Forum right in the middle of the pandemic; we've got to address that. Why in the world do we have anything to do with the World Economic Forum? That's got to end."

Comment: Ms. Smith certainly has come out swinging. Let's hope she can follow through on her objectives. Will other western provinces be emboldened too?

The 'War of Terror' may be about to hit Europe

Europe
© Press TV
Never underestimate a wounded and decaying Empire collapsing in real time.

Imperial functionaries, even in a "diplomatic" capacity, continue to brazenly declare that their exceptionalist control over the world is mandatory.

If that's not the case, competitors may emerge and steal the limelight - monopolized by US oligarchies. That, of course, is absolute anathema.

The imperial modus operandi against geopolitical and geoeconomic competitors remains the same: avalanche of sanctions, embargos, economic blockades, protectionist measures, cancel culture, military uptick in neighboring nations, and assorted threats. But most of all, warmongering rhetoric - currently elevated to fever pitch.

The hegemon may be "transparent" at least in this domain because it still controls a massive international network of institutions, financial bodies, politicos, CEOs, propaganda agencies and the pop culture industry. Hence this supposed invulnerability breeding insolence.

Nord Stream repair time frame assessed

Russia's Nord Stream gas pipelines, which were damaged and made inoperable by underwater explosions in late September, can be repaired within a few months, as reported by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) citing Sten Ussing, Chief Engineer with consultant group COWI.

Ussing assessed from underwater video-footage that the pipes will not be damaged by rust for some time as there is little oxygen at a depth of 80 meters, where they are located. He noted that the fracture surfaces look "very clean and almost shiny," which suggests that "the pipe will not rust in a few weeks, as one would expect in a more oxygenated environment."

"We can expect corrosion inside the pipe to be limited as well," he added.

The engineer, however, explained that the explosion caused a pressure surge, and that could have damaged sections of the pipeline some distance from the site, adding that they can be repaired by elevating the pipes slightly above the seabed, which would allow underwater welders to remove the damaged sections and replace them with new ones.

"It is standard procedure to weld such a piece of pipe under water. It has been done many times before, and the technologies - vessels, pipes and specialists - that need to be used already exist," Ussing explained.

Comment: It's a tribute to a good design that such a massive undertaking can get a section blown out and the whole can be up in running in only a few months. The question is, does Europe have that long before winter takes hold and the population starts to freeze?

AOC claims constituents are anti-LGBT so she doesn't have to 'take them seriously'

aoc queens
New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez compared her constituents to members of the Westboro Baptist Church and therefore does not need to "take them seriously" after a disastrous town hall event on Wednesday.

AOC wrote "These homophobes were yelling Westboro Baptist-style anti-LGBT+ slogans. What do you think I'm gonna do? Take them seriously? If you want to associate w/ their views, that's your business. But NY-14 will ALWAYS have a champion for LGBTQ+ people on my watch. Period."

GOP fires warning shot at IRS: Destruction of taxpayer filings is 'ripe for congressional oversight'

The IRS destroyed 30 million paper-filed taxpayer documents in early 2021, claiming 'software limitations'

Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee asked the IRS this week to keep all documents related to its 2021 decision to destroy millions of taxpayer filings, and indicated a deeper congressional inquiry is coming if Republicans take control of the House.

During the first few months of the Biden administration, the IRS destroyed 30 million paper-filed "information returns," which must be filed by small business and others to inform the IRS of various transactions. The IRS claimed that "software limitations" prevented it from processing those returns, and a decision was made to destroy them.

The IRS insisted that no taxpayers would be penalized as a result of its decision, but tax professionals were outraged at the decision to wipe out documents that took time and expense to file, and Republicans demanded more information about what happened.

Macron accuses US of 'double standards' as Europe pays 'four times' the price for America's LNG

Macron
Emmanuel Macron President of France
French President Emmanuel Macron slammed US trade and energy policies for creating "a double standard" with Europe as resentment builds over the economic price the continent is paying over Russia's war in Ukraine.

"The North American economy is making choices for the sake of attractiveness, which I respect, but they create a double standard" with lower energy prices domestically while selling natural gas to Europe at record prices, Macron said at a news conference in Brussels following a meeting of European Union leaders.

Comment: What did Macron expect? Particularly after the AUKUS debacle. Europe only has itself to blame. But, America too will have its reckoning.

Elections - Lucy in the field with Charlie

Ritualistic psychosocial torture posing as election ̶d̶a̶y̶,̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶k̶, month, is here again.

Two reasons I don't vote: first of all, it's meaningless. This country was bought and sold and paid for a long time ago. The shit they shuffle around every four years doesn't mean a fuckin' thing. And secondly, I don't vote 'cause I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain.

— George Carlin (1996)
Few ever want to admit the systems all around them want them enslaved.

How can they ever liberate themselves if they don't acknowledge their chains?

That's the first way Globopsycho keeps those chains firmly latched to the masses — denial.

The second way is hopium.

The topic of elections and performative theatre of party politics are generally avoided around here like genetic poisonous injections posing as medicine, but today an exception will be made.

It's that season again. Polls and pols. Trolls and slaves. Hope and gossip. Midnight ballot dumps and verticle blue lines that say, "Yeah, we're cheating, what the hell are you gonna do about it?"

Did I say blind hope?

"I donated to so-and-so's campaign! He's going to save us!"

All the enslaved minds vet candidate reliability based on words. Speculating if this or that candidate will betray them if they take the time to mark a piece of paper or computer with their name on it. A piece of paper with a vote that could never be thrown out later by regime party apparatchiks or deleted from a computer database.

Voting in non-democracies posing as such is always a kind of masochistic ritual adored by Stockholm Syndrome sufferers and the army of normies who love their chains.

When people feel powerless, Globopsycho permits "democracy" and the distractive spectacle of elections as a temporary calamine lotion to feel less powerless. Scratch that itch in the voting booth, and you'll feel better about things.

Some are in it for the pageantry and theatre, others for the tribal camaraderie and blindfolded adherence to party orthodoxies.

A large percentage will never give up believing the one thing that Globopsycho needs as many people to believe as possible, that this time things will be different.

Russian Defense Minister speaks to British counterpart about Ukraine's possible provocations with dirty bomb

ben wallace
On Friday Shoigu held phone talks with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, which was requested by the US
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has told his British counterpart, Ben Wallace, that Ukraine's provocations with the use of a 'dirty bomb' are possible, the Russian defense ministry said on Sunday after their telephone conversation.

"Telephone talks between Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu and UK Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace were held on October 23, 2022. They discussed the situation in Ukraine," it said, adding that the Russian minister informed his British counterpart about Russia's concerns over Ukraine's possible provocations with the use of a dirty bomb.

Earlier in the day, Shoigu spoke over the phone with his French and Turkish counterparts, Sebastien Lecornu and Hulusi Akar, to convey Russia's concerns over possible provocations with the use of a dirty bomb in Ukraine.

Comment: One can assume that it's a rather serious concern of Russia's since they've felt it necessary to speak to so many Western officials in just one day. And it's notable that the issue of the UkroNazi's and their threat of using a dirty bomb comes up now, as the defeat of the West's proxy army nears, and that the US suddenly decides that it is available for dialogue, something that Russia has been calling for since the outset of the operation.
