Since then, children in Western countries have been taught that a US and UK-led coalition defeated the Nazis (and Imperial Japan) to save the world from fascism and secure a better world for all. But is this the whole story? Was the sudden emergence of a post-war geopolitical balance-of-power that transformed the USSR from ally to enemy - and the US from 'reluctant participant' to global superpower - merely an accident of fate? As we try to understand the current global chaos, we need to ask; what crucial details and context have been excised from the history books?
Today on Behind the Headlines, we look back at this mass outbreak of insanity to explore its causes, historical comparisons, and consequences. We're live this Sunday, April 19th 2015, from 2-4pm EST / 11am-1pm PST / 7-9pm UTC / 8-10pm CET

As the world goes from crisis to crisis, we wonder; what makes Iran's pursuit of nuclear technology such a critical issue? This week on Behind the Headlines we're hoping to get to the heart of the matter, taking into account Saudi Arabia's invasion of Yemen, a parallel theater of 'conflict management', and Greece's 'pivot' towards Russia.
We're live this Sunday, 12 April 2015, from 2-3:30pm EST / 11am-12.30pm PST / 7-8.30pm UTC / 8-9.30pm CET.
The Behind the Headlines talkshow takes place each Sunday on the SOTT Radio Network, the radio network of SOTT.net, your media source for independent news and commentary on world events. Analyzing global impact events that shape our world and future, and connecting the dots to reveal the bigger picture obscured by mainstream programming, Behind the Headlines is current affairs for people who think.

Here's the transcript of the show:
What passes for culture in the West, particularly in the USA, is a male-dominated culture where women are reduced to being disposable objects of men's desires. When it comes to sexual assault, it's likely that almost every woman you know has been raped, assaulted, or sexually harassed, at least once. Since U.S. culture invariably goes on to shape global culture, a large majority of people throughout the world emulate what they see coming out of this country. It's no surprise that the same degradation of values and lack of protection towards women is prevalent throughout the world. With psychopaths in power in the U.S., their own depraved inner nature shines through their heavily 'mediatized' behaviors and "values", spreading down and out across the rest of the world.
Unfortunately, the rest of the world is following right along with the psychopaths at the top; degrading, sexualizing, objectifying, and trashing women's bodies. We have turned into a society which protects, encourages even, those who commit one of the most gross violations that humans can commit. That should be something everyone is concerned with, yet if I go through just a few of the countless news reports about rapes in the past few years, what I find is a system that ultimately does the opposite of what should be done. Rapists are practically forgiven by judges and detectives, while women are cast as temptresses who "get what they were secretly wanting" and as liars who make up stories for cash and attention.
This week, join our hosts as they discuss the freak show world we live in, where practically everything we think we know is wrong, where obvious lies get peddled as truth, and the truth is almost always the total opposite of what we are told, in science, politics, history, religion, and more.
The Truth Perspective is brought to you by the SOTT Radio Network and SOTT.net, your one-stop source for independent, unbiased, alternative news and commentary on world events.
Live every Saturday from 2-4pm EST / 11am-1pm PST / 8-10pm CET.

Now it is proven: conspiracy theorists are fools living in a bubbleThis Iltalehti article refers to an article written in English on Vice Motherboard that itself refers to the Italian study at PLOS One.
The internet is the information highway for both good and bad, because on the net all content is equal and trustworthy content competes for attention among all kinds of misinformation. Among other things, conspiracy theories and the peddling alternative media, are spread widely within the depths of the net.
Rumors, propaganda, and other net-loopers have become such a serious problem, that the World Economic Forum, committed to monitoring the state of the world, named it as one of modern societies greatest threats alongside terrorism and cyber crime.
Iltalehti's first comment suggests that only the content of mainstream media represents absolutely trustworthy information, while again alternative media's "conspiracy theories" are rumor, propaganda and misinformation. Conspiracies are something like mystical fairy tales, believed only by mentally unstable persons. This kind of black-and-white thinking is typical of the authoritarian personality type, who relates to social authorities in the same naive way small children relate to their own parents.
The second comment is very worrisome. It was not long ago when the attitude towards conspiracy theories was mainly mocking. Now they are perceived as a national threat and they are compared to terrorism and Nazism: France has already set a dangerous precedent by beginning to block web sites which in the opinion of the government, publish conspiracy theories and other "dangerous thoughts". Arthur Schopenhauer stated that truth goes through three phases: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. It seems we are in stage two at the moment.
What makes the world so psaki? Why does it make us want to harf? Well, let's start with the people who inspire the words. What can we say about Jen Psaki and Marie Harf? They're both perfect poster children for the banal psychopathology upon which the USA, and by extension the rest of the world, is built. They're oh, so 'normal' with their cute smiles, propensity to humor and the ease with which they handle difficult situations. They're not just living the American dream, they are the American dream. But closely study these people, what they say and the way they say it, and you realise that those charming traits are used to mask a cold-blooded and ruthless ability to tell bare-faced lies to the world. And not just any old lies, but lies that obscure the fact that the US government is responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians on a daily basis. When you realise that, the smile and lighthearted manner isn't so 'cute' any more. Then again, they are the official State Department media liaisons, and therefore are tasked with white-washing the crimes of the massive planetary boil that is the US government and all of its institutions.
Having said that, we took the announcement that Psaki would no longer be gracing the State Dept. stage with her question-dodging and lie-spewing with a bit of disappointment. Harf was a decent replacement, but Psaki was such an easy target for us to highlight US government duplicity, and her regular 'endearing' blunders and non sequiturs and seeming inability to distinguish truth from falsehood, provided morbid entertainment to those who could see behind the veil of cuteness. As an example, here's what Psaki had to say on February 23rd about American stooge and president of Yemen, Hadi, who was recently deposed in the coup which sparked the Saudi and US bombardment of Yemen.
