A former Oklahoma City mayor has drawn the ire of the LGBTQ community after controversial comments made on a political talk show. He not only stated that homosexuality is "wrong" but that its acceptance is a tacit endorsement of pedophilia.

During a heated discussion on Sunday about the slew of sexual harassment and assault allegations within the world of US politics, Co-Chairman of Oklahoma University's Board of Regents Kirk Humphreys challenged guest co-host, and Democratic representative, Emily Virgin.

While discussing the case of disgraced Democratic Senator Al Franken, Virgin said she didn't think homosexuality was wrong, to which Humphreys replied: "Well I do." He then muddied the waters with a non sequitur by alluding to former US representative Barney Frank, an openly gay politician.

The latest research shows the people of Ukraine have the worst living standards among all of Europe.

An average Ukrainian earns just €190 per month, or just a little over $220, according to the study by Texty.org.ua. The highest average net salary, according to the analysts, is in Switzerland. An average Swiss earns no less than $5,000 per month after taxes.

In November, Ukrainian Economy Minister Stepan Kubiv admitted the economy lost $15 billion annually after Russia closed its borders to consumer goods from Ukraine, almost a fifth of the country's GDP.

Comment: This is exactly what can be expected in any country when the West offers 'assistance' and then takes control by installing corrupt puppets who will then bleed the country dry.

A woman who told her husband she believed she had been sexually assaulted during a night out later discovered he was her attacker, a court heard. After collecting his wife, who had been found slumped on a bench, he took her home and raped her.

The woman had gone out alone and become intoxicated after an argument with her husband, 35, who cannot be named for legal reasons. The next morning, the victim suspected she had been sexually assaulted so confided in her husband, who told her to call the police, Reading Crown Court heard.

Detectives later arrested the man after DNA showed he was the attacker. He had claimed the couple last had consensual intercourse a week earlier, but evidence proved otherwise.

The man began his seven-year jail sentence last week after being convicted of rape by a majority verdict. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register and made the subject of a restraining order, banning him from contacting his wife other than through solicitors.

Former Facebook exec says social media is 'destroying how society works'

Another former Facebook executive has spoken out about the harm the social network is doing to civil society around the world. Chamath Palihapitiya, who joined Facebook in 2007 and became its vice president for user growth, said he feels "tremendous guilt" about the company he helped make. "I think we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works," he told an audience at Stanford Graduate School of Business, before recommending people take a "hard break" from social media.

Palihapitiya's criticisms were aimed not only at Facebook, but the wider online ecosystem. "The short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops we've created are destroying how society works," he said, referring to online interactions driven by "hearts, likes, thumbs-up." "No civil discourse, no cooperation; misinformation, mistruth. And it's not an American problem - this is not about Russians ads. This is a global problem."

He went on to describe an incident in India where hoax messages about kidnappings shared on WhatsApp led to the lynching of seven innocent people. "That's what we're dealing with," said Palihapitiya. "And imagine taking that to the extreme, where bad actors can now manipulate large swathes of people to do anything you want. It's just a really, really bad state of affairs." He says he tries to use Facebook as little as possible, and that his children "aren't allowed to use that shit." He later adds, though, that he believes the company "overwhelmingly does good in the world."

Russia is a more reliable partner than US according to recent survey of Germans

Russia
A new poll published by the German public broadcaster ARD revealed that Germans believe Russia is a more reliable partner than the US.

The survey of 1,004 people conducted by Infratest dimap showed that 28 percent of respondents trust Russia. By contrast, only one in four Germans, or 25 percent, stated that Washington is a reliable partner compared to 80 percent in 2008.

Comment: The pathological western powers have done a considerable amount of damage around the planet since 2008 so there are many reasons Germans could be turning away from the US towards Russia. An elderly man has been found buried in rubble after a house was 'completely destroyed' in a gas explosion, a horrified witness says.

The pensioner was reportedly found unconscious after the blast rocked the quiet, snowy village of Birstall, Leicestershire, this morning.

He was discovered with severe cuts to his head and a "flight of stairs on top of him" - but was still breathing, witness John Ketteringham claims.

Next door's bedroom was also ripped apart in the explosion, while a woman living opposite saw her own bedroom windows "blow in".

At least three people were injured in the blast, which occurred in Allington Drive at about 7.30am and was heard throughout the area.

One is said to be in a serious condition.

Amazon drivers launch legal challenge over working conditions: up to 200 parcels a day with no breaks while earning less than minimum wage

I hopped in a white van to spend a day with one driver and experience first-hand the intolerable pressures they face from "impossible" schedules.

Many routinely exceed the legal maximum shift of 11 hours and finish their days dead on their feet.

Yet they have so little time for food or toilet stops they snatch hurried meals on the run and urinate into plastic bottles they keep in their vans.

They say they often break speed limits to meet targets that take no account of delays such as ice, traffic jams or road closures.

Many claim they are employed in a way that means they have no rights to holiday or sickness pay.

'Nureyev' ballet premieres in Moscow while director is under house arrest

The most hotly anticipated and controversial Russian ballet in years has been premiered as Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre finally staged Nureyev, which tells the life story of the dancer.

The theatre's best dancers took to the stage on Saturday night with much of the Russian elite in the audience. But the ballet's director, Kirill Serebrennikov, was conspicuously absent, having spent the past few months under house arrest.

Nureyev's summer premiere was cancelled at the last minute, with speculation that gay themes in the ballet may have angered some government figures.

Comment: It seems like the controversy surrounding the ballet would be typical of any Western production. Show a little nudity in the promotional material to get some people pissed off while the production itself sounds rather tame. The 'homosexual themes' only seem controversial in the eyes of Westerners who are primed to expect these reactions from Russia - because homophobes. Meanwhile, such a production would probably draw massive protests in the US.

The Western press are probably the only ones suggesting Serebrennikov's arrest "could be retribution for pushing artistic boundaries". In reality, it's probably simply misappropriation of cultural funds, as is suggested. See also:

Largest Wooden Temple in Asia Burns to the Ground in Mysterious Blaze

Wooden temple blaze China
The structure, known to be the tallest of its kind in Asia, was completely destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished.

On December 10, a fire broke out at the Lingguan Mansion complex in Mianzhu, China's Sichuan province. The flames were extinguished about four hours later, by which time a 16-story wooden pagoda and a prayer hall at the Buddhist temple were burnt to the ground, local government reported in a statement published on Weibo.

Several videos were shared online, showing bright flames and black smoke ripping through the temple's pagoda as it falls to pieces.
