Americans facing 'economic degradation and misery' due to US foreign policy - Jackson Hinkle on RT panel

Washington is wasting money on foreign policy blunders like Ukraine, instead of improving the lives of American people, US journalist Jackson Hinkle has said.

The political commentator was one of the guests for a discussion panel on US information warfare against Russia, which RT hosted on Friday as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

He lampooned the administration of US President Joe Biden for trying to justify continued military assistance to Ukraine by highlighting its intention to spend the money at home to ramp up military production. Biden and other senior officials have repeatedly used this narrative when a White House appropriation request stalls in Congress due to Republican opposition.

Alex Jones to lose ownership of Infowars

Alex Jones, founder of Infowars
According to reports, Alex Jones moved to liquidate his personal assets to settle legal judgments with the relatives of Sandy Hook victims.

Jones filed for personal bankruptcy in December 2022 after the Sandy Hook families were awarded $1.5 billion in defamation lawsuits.

The families previously offered to settle the debt for $85 million paid over 10 years, the Associated Press reported last November.

"The families' lawyers offered Jones two options: either liquidate his estate and give the proceeds to creditors, or pay them at least $8.5 million a year for 10 years — plus 50% of any income over $9 million per year," the outlet noted.

Comment: A 'kangaroo court debt' indeed, similar to the judgement against Trump, intended to wipe out his campaign fund:

Alex Jones ordered to pay nearly $1billion to Sandy Hookvictims over hoax claims

this is up from a 4.1 million judgement in 2022.

But maybe Jones was on to something: Again, as with Trump, Jones was hamstrung by a corrupt judiciary in prosecuting his defense: Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson have both stepped up to give Alex Jones a voice:

66% of US adults oppose transgender girls competing on female sports teams, new survey reveals

trans sport, trans women,
Nearly half of Americans believe young people are being influenced by pop culture to identify as LGBTQ, while two-thirds of US adults believe transgender girls shouldn't compete in female sports.
A solid majority of American adults believe transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete on girls' sports teams — with two-thirds saying it should be permitted "never" or "in rare cases," according to a new LA Times survey.

The survey, conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago, asked respondents to weigh in on whether trans athletes of both sexes should be permitted to participate in sports leagues that correspond to their preferred gender identity instead of their biological sex.

It posed the same question about adult and child trans athletes, separately polling US adults overall, California adults and LGBTQ+ adults.

Adults from California were statistically tied with US adults on the question of trans girls competing against biological girls, with 65% answering it should either be never or rarely be allowed.

The responses were virtually identical when those polled were asked about adult trans female athletes competing in women's sports teams, with 69% of US adults stating their opposition.

Comment: That's a surprising number of people who don't see the insanity of mixing the sexes in sports.

California fast food restaurants have cut 10,000 jobs thanks to state's $20 minimum wage: trade group

California fast food restaurants have slashed nearly 10,000 jobs because of the state's new $20 minimum wage as struggling franchises cut labor costs and raise prices to survive, a major trade group said Thursday.

The California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA) slammed Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom for pushing through the law, which went into effect April 1 - and was blamed for forcing one beloved taco chain to shutter 48 locations in the state last week.

"California businesses have been under total attack and total assault for years," CABIA president and founder Tom Manzo told Fox Business.

"It's just another law that puts businesses in further jeopardy."

Several major chains - including McDonald's, Burger King, and even low-cost favorite In-N-Out Burger - jacked up prices to offset the higher wages.

Comment: Restaurant closures, hours cutting, and price hikes are necessary responses to minimum wage hikes and pretty much leaves everyone in the same position they were in before. Except for those 10,000 people who've just been laid off, of course. They're in a worse position. Same for those who made just above minimum wage and didn't get a pay raise but now must endure the consequences of government induced inflation.

Children among dozens killed in 'appalling' Israeli attack on UNRWA school

"This is not war, it is destruction that words are unable to express," said the father of two children killed in the Israeli strike.

Israeli forces on Thursday bombed a Gaza school run by the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, killing dozens of people including women and children.

The precise death toll from the Israeli strike on the school — which was sheltering displaced Palestinians — is unclear, but the communications director for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said she's been informed that up to 45 people were killed.

Euronews reported that the nearby Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital "received at least 33 dead from the strike, including 14 children and nine women, according to hospital records and an Associated Press reporter at the hospital."

Comment: That Israel would bomb and kill dozens of Gazans (in a UN facility no less) so soon after doing the same only a few weeks ago - and receiving near universal condemnation for it - demonstrates just how belligerent, brazen, malevolent and unhinged it is; only this week there were reports of Israel using banned white phosphorous munitions on the civilians of Lebanon.

Rapper 50 Cent: Black men will back Trump

Rapper 50 Cent with Trump
Rapper 50 Cent said Black men "identify" with Trump, in comments to CBS News.
The ex-president's legal problems make him appealing as a candidate, the Grammy Award-winning rap artist has said

Curtis Jackson, the Grammy Award-winning rapper and music mogul better known as '50 Cent', has shared his views on the upcoming US presidential election, saying he sees black men supporting former President Donald Trump.

Responding to questions from CBS News on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, the musician, who backed Trump during his 2020 election campaign, said that he had not made up his mind about who he was voting for in the upcoming presidential election, scheduled for November 2024.

Comment: Besides identifying with Trump's legal persecution, most African-Americans have seen how much good Trump did.

Britain's moralising ruling class would rather neuter democracy than deal with its complexities

Review of Downward Spiral: Collapsing public standards and how to restore them by John Bowers KC

Political systems, in their decline, often become so gummed up by procedure, factions, petty officials and assorted spoonbenders that no one is able to grab the reins and turn things around. Outsiders who try to are combined against and disposed of. There are more laws and rules than ever, but the only real law is that no one is in charge or responsible for anything.

In most cases, such a system develops a kind of gratuitous cynicism about itself. A giggling interior world, with its own lore, rituals and endless, wearisome intrigues. The Forbidden City; the seraglio; Versailles; the Kremlin in the days of Andropov - no one on the inside could justify this state of affairs, or imagine that things could go on like this for much longer, and so there is instead a conscious revelling in dysfunction. A despairing frivolity. Tittering schadenfreude. A perverse glee is taken at dispatching anyone who threatens to disturb this internal equilibrium. The only task becomes to keep this milieu going for as long as possible while the wallpaper peels.

But this kind of rot can be reversed, because it is so visibly self-serving that it cannot inspire any sincere defence. When preposterous rackets like the Janissaries or the Praetorian Guard were rolled up, nobody mourned them, and it was impossible to imagine them being brought back.

The trouble really begins, things really become terminal, when the dysfunction and hopeless diffusion of power starts to evolve a moral argument for itself. All the accumulated barnacles now become, instead, the rule of law, or aristocratic freedoms, or something else.

Zombie businesses surge 30% across the globe, bankruptcies loom

They are called zombies, companies so laden with debt that they are just stumbling by on the brink of survival, barely able to pay even the interest on their loans and often just a bad business hit away from dying off for good.

An Associated Press analysis found their numbers have soared to nearly 7,000 publicly traded companies around the world — 2,000 in the United States alone — whiplashed by years of piling up cheap debt followed by stubborn inflation that has pushed borrowing costs to decade highs.

And now many of these mostly small and mid-sized walking wounded could soon be facing their day of reckoning, with due dates looming on hundreds of billions of dollars of loans they may not be able to pay back.

"They're going to get crushed," Valens Securities Managing Director Robert Spivey said of the weakest zombies.

Added Miami investor Mark Spitznagel, who famously bet against stocks before the last two crashes: "The clock is ticking."

Comment: It's perhaps no coincidence that this is occurring alongside the West's maniacal warmongering across much of the planet, the rise of the multipolar alliance, and a surge in suspicious cyber attacks:

Jordanian guards shoot man who set himself on fire in protest over the gov'ts support for genocide

jordan protest

A man set himself on fire last night outside a government building in the southern city of Aqaba, according to local news reports.

The motive for the act of self-immolation is unconfirmed but social media users have said he was protesting the government's support for Israel during its bombing of Gaza. They added that he was protesting outside the Jordanian Presidential Palace in the city, MEMO could not verify these claims.

Comment: With more than 2 million Palestinian refugees in Jordan, and regular protests against the government's support for the genocide, it seems reasonable to suppose that was the man's motivation.

Ukrainian 'terrorist' arrested at Paris airport hotel carrying improvised bomb-equipment, 1 exploded in room

A photograph of one of the improvised explosive devices produced by a suspected Russian-Ukrainian terrorist, who was arrested in Paris following an explosion on Monday
A suspected Russian-Ukrainian terrorist triggered an improvised bomb in a Paris airport hotel room using 'Mother of Satan' chemicals favoured by ISIS bombers, it emerged tonight.

The blast at Charles de Gaulle led to the arrest of the 26-year-old, who has not been named, but who originally comes from the war-torn Donbas region of Ukraine.

Comment: One would suppose that if his name was definitively Russian, Western governments and the propaganda press would be having a field day over this 'hard evidence', but, as it is, whilst the incident itself has received coverage, the reporting died down relatively quickly.

It happened on Monday afternoon, just two days before world leaders including US president Joe Biden flew into the French capital in time for the D-Day 80th anniversary commemorations.

The airport suspect suffered severe burns to his face and an arm, after igniting Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP) in an £80-room at the B&B Hotel, within the perimeter of the airport, which is the largest in France.
