Florida University investigating professor who tweeted 'black privilege is real'

The professor, who authored a book defending white people from being shamed for racism, acknowledged that the timing of his tweets was "poor" as the country is embroiled in racially-charged protests unseen since the 1960s.

A professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is being investigated for a series of controversial statements about black people.

Charles Negy, an associate professor of psychology at the university, came under scrutiny following several tweets in which he condemned what he called black privilege and appeared to blame racism on African Americans.

Comment: Professors should have learned by now that truth is not allowed to be uttered in public. Negy should join is radicalized peers in academia and start practicing right-think before he gets cancelled.

Just one month ago, the idea that most people aren't susceptible to Covid-19 — perhaps the overwhelming majority — was considered dangerous denialism. It was startling when Nobel-prize-winning scientist Michael Levitt argued in UnHerd at the start of May that the growth curves of the disease were never truly exponential, suggesting that some sort of "prior immunity" must be kicking in very early.

Today, though, the presence of some level of prior resistance and immunity to Covid-19 is fast becoming accepted scientific fact. Results have just been published of a study suggesting that 40%-60% of people who have not been exposed to coronavirus have resistance at the T-cell level from other similar coronaviruses like the common cold.

Now, from the unlikely source of a prominent member of the "Independent SAGE committee", the group set up by Sir David King to challenge government scientific advice and accused by some of being populated with Left-wing activists, comes a claim that the true portion of people who are not even susceptible to Covid-19 may be as high as 80%.

Coronavirus Fact-Check #6: Does wearing a mask do anything?

As of two days ago, Boris Johnson's government announced it will henceforth be illegal to use public transportation in the UK, without wearing a mask.

This goes along with many other governments - both local and national - which have enforced mandatory mask-wearing to one extent or another.

Leaving aside the question of whether such steps are necessary to combat a virus they openly admit is harmless to the vast majority of people - the question becomes: Do masks actually do anything to prevent the spread of this disease? Or respiratory diseases in general?

Well, some mask manufacturers don't seem to think so. Printing this warning on the side of the box:

But, in case that's just a company seeking to prevent liability, maybe we should look at some proper scientific research on the subject. There's quite a bit of it.

Comment: As Dr. Fauci had said, they are "symbolic". What are they a symbol of? Most likely your submission to the psychopathic dictates of a control system that cares nothing about you, your family or humanity at large. A symbol of your belief in a lie and surrendering of your agency. See also:

Black Lives Matter Melbourne has issued a list of required behavior from white people attending their protest, which includes no selfies and the demand that, "If a black person tells you to do something, you do it immediately without question."

Up to 40,000 people are expected to attend the demonstration in Australia, which the potential for riots high given the city's militant left-wing nature.

In anticipation of that, BLM Melbourne issued a lengthy list of requirements for how white people are allowed to behave during the rally.

Comment: White people are to act as a human shield? How can this be deemed anything but racist? It's incredibly sad that a movement that is supposed to be about racial equality is so quick to subjugate individuals based on their race. And the white guilt is so strong with those at the protests, they'll likely obey with little thought. BLM would do well to look at the strategies of the Civil Rights movements that proceeded them. They were successful and never stooped to these levels.

The Russian army has been called in to extinguish a blazing wellhead belonging to the country's smallest oil company, Irkutsk Oil Company (INK) .

The fire has started on 30 May when the mixture of oil and gas was ejected into a junction box due to depressurization of the connecting hose.

The fire in the Yarakta oil field is hundreds of kilometres from the nearest settlements and has posed no threat to life; no-one was hurt by the fire.

Veteran stockbroker Peter Schiff has shared his view on Elon Musk's call to break up monopolies, particularly e-commerce giant Amazon. According to Schiff, it's time to end the US Federal Reserve's monopoly on money printing.

In a follow-up tweet to the Tesla boss' "Time to break up Amazon. Monopolies are wrong!" post, Schiff has slammed the US central bank.

"Time to end the Fed's monopoly on money printing and price fixing interest rates," he wrote, adding: "If we had a real economy, based on savings and production, instead of a bubble based on credit conjured into existence, Amazon wouldn't be nearly as large, as it would have to generate real profits."

The Democratic National Committee downplayed surprising May job gains and brushed off the notion that easing coronavirus lockdowns in Republican-controlled states contributed to the uptick.

"What we have in this report is a flicker of good news," DNC Chairman Tom Perez said during a Friday press call. "We've gone from a Category 5 hurricane to a Category 4.9 hurricane."

Perez compared the job losses over the last three months, 19.6 million, to the worst three-month stretch of job losses under the Obama administration, 2.3 million, in the middle of the Great Recession.

President Trump, Perez said, is "continuing to compete with Herbert Hoover to have the worst record of job loss in at least the last hundred years in the United States," and blamed the "preventable" losses on Trump failing to act to contain the coronavirus pandemic earlier.

The Labor Department said Friday that the economy gained 2.5 million jobs in May and the unemployment rate fell to 13.3%. Due to lockdowns, the economy lost 1.4 million jobs in March and 20.7 million jobs in April.

California: Huge fire consumes Amazon warehouse and trucks, cause unknown

A fire ripped through an Amazon warehouse in Redlands, California, with work trucks also set ablaze, briefly closing a nearby highway. Video from the scene shows smoke billowing out of the fulfillment center, and fire engulfing multiple Amazon trailers and trucks outside the building.

The fire caused the nearby 10 Freeway to close for approximately an hour while firefighters fought to contain the flames. Drivers were also advised to avoid the area. The blaze was reported as a three-alarm fire as it was a massive one requiring more firefighters and trucks than normal to respond. The situation now appears to be under control with the nearby freeway open to rush hour traffic.

Hundreds of protesters calling for the resignation of Ukraine's interior minister, Arsen Avakov, have set off smoke bombs and fireworks in front of the parliament in Kyiv.

Avakov, who was inside making a speech on June 5, has come under intense criticism in recent days.

Critics say the minister has failed to rein in police abuses, bring about reform, or promote law and order in the country during his six years in office. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has thrown his support behind Avakov, calling him "a really powerful minister."

Demands to sack Avakov from the post he has held since 2014 were sparked by reports about the alleged rape and torture of a woman by police officers in the town of Kaharlyk near Kyiv and a shoot-out between criminal gangs in the Kyiv region in late May.

The demonstrators represented different political groups and parties, including Holos (Voice), a pro-European opposition party founded by popular rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk; the nationalist Praviy Sektor (Right Sector) party; gay rights group Kyiv Pride, as well as individual citizens holding posters, some of which said: "Avakov Is A Syndrome," "Where To Turn When The Police Rapes Me?"

In a viral video that has garnered 1.5 million views, conservative activist Candace Owens explains why she refuses to accept George Floyd as a martyr for the African-American community.

"Confession: #GeorgeFloyd is neither a martyr or a hero," Owens captioned her video on Twitter. "But I hope his family gets justice."
In the 18-minute clip, Owens clearly condemns police officer Derek Chauvin's murder of Floyd but also examines Floyd's criminal record and challenges the narrative that celebrates him as a hero.

Comment: Candace Owens is on a tear in her video, highlighting 'flaws' in the way we perceive and react to both black and white cultures, including acquired perceptions that misrepresent truths. She makes some interesting and dramatic points. However, regarding George Floyd and the circumstances of his death, she risks conflating the human right to live with how the human lived. The reality? Floyd was not a hero - not even close. He was the 'nexus' point that unleashed pent-up human anger. It could have been anyone.
