Just 6% of young adults in UK believe their views influence government policy, revealing dramatic loss of faith in politics - poll

A dramatic loss of faith in the ability of British democracy to serve the interests of UK voters is revealed in a new report that finds that donors to political parties and big businesses are now commonly viewed by the electorate as the main drivers of government policy.

Disturbing evidence that millions of voters feel their voices and views go largely unheard while big money interests hold most sway is uncovered in the latest report by the IPPR thinktank, in collaboration with the Observer, on the future of democracy.

The study, entitled Road to Renewal, draws on YouGov polling of 3,442 adults, which found that just 6% of voters in elections in Great Britain believe their views are the main influences behind eventual decisions on policy taken by government ministers.

Lord help us: Jussie Smollett releases new song, still claims he's innocent

jussie smollett song
Convicted hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett, recently released from jail, made a new song called "Thank You God," in which he still steadfastly claims he's innocent.

Smollett posted a lyrical music video of the single to Instagram on Friday. The one-minute and 40-second video is prefaced with a message signed by Smollett stating he's "channeling these thoughts the best way I know how. Love you."

"It's like they're hell-bent on not solving the crime, taking out the elements of race and trans and homophobia that's straight taking lives, but turn around and act like I'm the one that killed the strides," Smollett sang on the track.

Elon Musk will no longer join Twitter Board of Directors

elon musk
Following Elon Musk's recent acquisition of 9.2% of Twitter and last Tuesday's formal announcement that he would be joining the Board of Directors, Musk has declined the board seat.

"Elon Musk has decided not to join our board," wrote CEO Parag Agrawal, adding "We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks. We also believed that having Elon as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward."

"Elon's appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board. I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not."

The war for young minds

LGBTQIA+ kindergarteners 1
Doss Elementary School (Austin, TX), 2022.
The failure to appreciate danger, or the refusal to take seriously the promises of the adversary, are often the result of a deficiency of imagination.

We look in shock at the indoctrination - and resulting sexualization - of the young, surprised that a secular progressive movement would go after the softest of minds. We fail to predict the application of evil because we cannot imagine such evil in ourselves.

After all, who amongst us would teach students that the family unit is racist and prejudicial, or that religion is homophobic?

Or instruct 5 - 7 year olds on "gender identity?"

Or provide rainbow flags and buttons to 3rd graders (and instruct those students they must not tell their parents about what was discussed during school pride week)?

Or force kids to attend a school-wide pride parade?

Shanghai is flying drones over districts to tell citizens under lockdown to 'curb your soul's desire for freedom' and comply with COVID-19 restrictions

Videos have circulated on Twitter and the Chinese social media platform Weibo of what appears to be a drone hovering in the sky, broadcasting Covid lockdown guidelines to residents under quarantine.

One particular clip shows a drone with red, flashing lights hovering above apartment buildings, broadcasting a message loudly. The video's original poster said the clip was taken in a residential district in Shanghai.

"Everyone, don't sing songs on your balcony. Songjiang Jiuting Park residents sang a little bit and then there was a drone coming over to say to control the desire for freedom in one's soul," read the poster's caption on the video.

In the video, the drone is seen flying over buildings, and a robotic voice broadcasts the message: "Residents of Jiuting. During the pandemic, we request that you strictly abide by COVID-19 restrictions and related guidelines. Control your soul's desire for freedom. Do not open the window or sing. This increases the risk of COVID-19 transmission."

Planned sex education lessons for first-graders in New Jersey will include discussions of gender identity — outraging some parents and Republican politicians including potential presidential candidate and former Gov. Chris Christie.

A 30-minute lesson called "Pink, Blue and Purple" aims to teach the 6-year-olds to define "gender, gender identity and gender role stereotypes," Fox News reported Friday.

It also includes instructions for teachers to tell students that their gender identity is up to them, according to materials reportedly distributed to parents at a Feb. 22 meeting of the Westfield Board of Education and posted online.

Comment: At least the Board didn't compound its crime by trying to hide the lesson content.

Disney silent on reports it helps employees' kids get 'sex change' procedures through benefits program

disney
The Walt Disney Company is staying silent following reports it helps the children of its employees with sex change procedures through its benefits program.
A leaked video shared by Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo Thursday purportedly showed a Disney internal meeting in which a man explained Disney's efforts to help employees "express their gender" at the company. Disney has not publicly addressed its efforts to help employees medically transition their children to the opposite sex following the release of the video, and did not respond to multiple requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The man in the video reportedly said employees could work with the company's benefits team to get information about gender transitions for themselves and their children, according to the video.

When I asked what my daughter would learn in kindergarten, the Teachers Union sued me

I'm just like any parent — when I enrolled my daughter in kindergarten, I wanted to know what she would learn. In response, our school district bullied, harassed, defamed, evaded, and stonewalled me. Then the teachers union sued me. I left public school because I no longer felt safe but I'm still taking action to get answers.

Kindergarten is a precious milestone. Our babies are not babies anymore: They go to school for full days. Parents want to know their children are safe at school, and they want to feel confident that their children are receiving a quality education. I knew many public schools across the country have been politicizing lessons, so I called my principal in the South Kingstown School District in Rhode Island to ask if they teach concepts of Critical Race Theory or gender theory. That question and the events that followed changed my life.

Rex Murphy asks 'Will anyone apologize for falsely accusing truckers of attempted arson in Ottawa'

ottawa truckers arson false accusation suspects
© Twitter/Ottawa Police ServiceSuspects are seen on security camera footage allegedly attempting to set fire to an apartment building in Ottawa on Feb. 6, 2022.
The attempt to burn down an apartment building in Ottawa, which was so widely and wildly heralded during the Freedom Convoy protest, had nothing to do with the truckers

This week, we found out that the attempt to burn down an apartment building in Ottawa, which was so widely and wildly heralded during the Freedom Convoy protest, had nothing to do with the truckers.

Please let this sink in. At the time, such was the volume of assumption, innuendo and outright allegation that everyone from Nanaimo, B.C., to Nain, N.L., formed the impression that this despicable action, an outrage by any standard, was the work of the truckers.

Not true. False. Nothing to do at all with the protesters. It was allegedly the work of two Ottawa miscreants who were working alone.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management tells Fox News Digital each bus can 'carry up to 40 migrants'

Texas has dispatched buses to the southern border to retrieve illegal immigrants after Gov. Greg Abbott said this week that he planned to send those released in his state to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Within the last 24 hours, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has dispatched an unspecified number of buses to small Texas communities that are said by officials to be overwhelmed by an influx of migrants placed there by the federal government.

Seth Christensen, chief of media and communications for TDEM, told Fox News Digital:
"In the last 24 hours, TDEM has dispatched buses to areas where communities have expressed concerns about the federal government dropping off migrants and has the capability to send as many as is necessary to fulfill the requests from mayors and county judges."
