US case of monkeypox reported in Massachusetts man

Massachusetts on Wednesday reported a rare case of monkeypox in a man who recently traveled to Canada, and health officials are looking into whether it is connected to small outbreaks in Europe.

Monkeypox is typically limited to Africa, and rare cases in the U.S. and elsewhere are usually linked to travel there. A small number of confirmed or suspected cases have been reported this month in the United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain.

U.S. health officials said they are in contact with officials in the U.K. and Canada as part of the investigation. But "at this point in time, we don't have any information that links the Massachusetts case to cases in the UK," said Jennifer McQuiston of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Though it's the only U.S. case the CDC is aware of, "I do think we are preparing for the possibility of more cases," she said.

'This is just a lie': How Jeff Bezos' Washington Post twisted a report about Donbass refugees to fit its narrative

Last week, the Washington Post published an extensive article titled 'Ukrainian refugees in Russia report interrogations, detention and other abuses'.

Bias against Russia is nothing new for the newspaper, owned by the oligarch Jeff Bezos. However, this particular story - authored by its former Moscow bureau chief Michael Birnbaum and reporter Mary Ilyushina (known as Maria when she worked in Russian domestic media) - appears to have gone even further than its usual output.

One of the people quoted in the piece is Danil Makhnitsky from 'Society. Future.', a political organization that coordinates volunteers who help refugees. When the article was published, Makhnitsky found out that most of what he had said didn't make the cut, and the only quote the newspaper used was taken out of context. RT spoke with Danil about his work with refugees and the interview he gave the newspaper.

Red-pilled Elon Musk has plenty of reasons to be fed up with the Democrats

Elon Musk is fully red-pilled. After months of attacks from the left, its allies in the Democratic party, and ceaseless efforts to cancel him, the world's richest man says that he plans on voting Republican moving forward.

Like so many other former Democrats, Musk has lost all hope in the trajectory of the party of the left. Once the party of "kindness," as Musk himself describes, the Democrats have fallen far from grace due to their endorsement of woke, anti-American, and some might even say, anti-human policies that benefit no one but those in charge. The establishment has been unrelenting in its pursuit of "socially conscious" causes such as anti-parent transgender ideology, the forced adoption of so-called "preferred pronouns," cancel culture, abolishing law enforcement, and - much to the chagrin of many anti-war advocates on the left - funding foreign conflicts.

The Democrats having devolved from being the 'party of the people' to one of weird agendas was no more evident than when numerous political influencers, including prominent congressional representatives, senators, and even Vice President Kamala Harris, threw their support behind the 'defund the police' movement in 2020.

The prosecution of Idaho mom Sara Brady

Kleiner Park is an all-American, family-friendly gathering place west of Boise with 60 acres of greenery, trails, ponds, outdoor performance facilities, picnic shelters, and children's swings and slides. Two weeks ago, I enjoyed a visit there with several hundred freedom activists gathered to support GOP Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin's gubernatorial bid. The sun shone brightly. Toddlers romped on the lawn. A sea of unmasked faces roared the Pledge of Allegiance in joyful unison.

But all is not and never will be back to "normal" in America. Never forget that citizens across this country still face tyrannical persecution and prosecution for defying COVID-19 tyranny just two short years ago. At the publicly owned Kleiner Park, I met and embraced mom of four Sara Brady, whom I recognized instantly from the worldwide viral video of her arrest in April 2020.

"What ever happened to your case?" I asked. This un-American nightmare, it turns out, has yet to end.

Italy forced into 'economic warfare' against Russia, journalist claims

Draghi

Most Italians do not support the decisions to slap Russia with sanctions or send weapons to Kiev, an Italian independent investigative journalist, Matteo Gracis, told RT last week, arguing that Rome is acting against its own interests as it follows the lead of Brussels and Washington.

On May 9, Gracis published a video on YouTube in which he appealed to Russian government officials and ordinary Russians. "It is important that you know that Italians are not against you," said the journalist, who has authored three books and founded the online media outlet L'Indipendente. "Our democracy is much less real than [the officials and the media] want us to believe," he said, claiming that the actions of Rome do not reflect the will of the people.

Gracis told RT, speaking about the reasons for publishing the video:
"I wanted to post that video, that message, to show a different perspective to Russia's leadership, to appeal to the Russian people. I wanted to explain to them that we, too, are victims of the actions of our government, unfortunately. The decision to impose sanctions against Russia, that wasn't even a decision made by Italians, it's a European decision that Italy accepted."

Mali junta says 'Western-backed' military officers attempted coup

Mali military

Mali's interim government on Monday said "Western-backed" military officers attempted a coup last week, without providing details or evidence.

The purported foiled putsch took place on the night between May 11 and May 12, the junta that took power in an August 2020 coup said in a statement.

The accusation against Westerners marks a fresh low between Mali and its old international allies who for a decade aided the West African nation in its fight against Islamist insurgents but are withdrawing amid a sour political spat.

In their place, Russian mercenaries have come in to aid Mali's military and witnesses said last month that white mercenaries were involved in a mass execution of Malian civilians.

Comment: Another page in the Mali saga:
The ruling military council in Mali announced late Monday that it had thwarted a coup attempt last week carried out by army officers with the support of an unnamed Western country.

In a statement broadcast on state television, the transitional government formed by the military council said that
"in a corrupt effort to break the dynamics of Mali's reconstruction, a handful of anti-progressive Malian officers and non-commissioned officers attempted to carry out a coup de Condition on the night of May 11 to 12, 2022. The attempt was frustrated thanks to the vigilance and professionalism of the defense and security forces."
The military confirmed number of detainees is about ten, and the search continues for others to arrest them. Security measures were tightened at the entrances to the capital, Bamako, and at the borders.

Since 2012, Mali has been mired in a security and political crisis caused by an armed rebellion led by separatist and rebel movements in the north of this country. In August 2020 and May 2021, the country witnessed two military coups.

Currently, the country is run by a military council that has turned away from France and its partners and moved closer to Russia. Since June, the head of the junta, Colonel Asimi Gueta, has been interim president.

Printing errors in mailed ballots will delay election results in Pennsylvania, Oregon

mail in ballot
Thousands of mailed ballots are being recalled in the Pennsylvania and Oregon primary elections after election officials found printing mistakes that make the ballots incalculable.

Election officials will have to go through the laborious process of redoing thousands of affected ballots, which could severely delay the results of Tuesday's primaries for close races, ABC News reports.

In Pennsylvania, at least 21,000 mailed ballots in Lancaster County, which typically leans Republican, were unable to be scanned due to an error in the barcode. Officials said the company that printed the ballots included the wrong ID code, which prevented scanning machines from being able to read them, the network reports.

Comment: It's interesting that it hasn't been until recently that all these problems with elections have started cropping up. Were they always this bad and no one noticed, or...

'Vaxxed to the max': Family members say Buffalo shooter was paranoid about COVID, wore a respirator mask, and recently caught it

buffalo shooter
Relatives of the suspect in the Buffalo mass shooting, that took the lives of 10 individuals, are blaming Covid "paranoia and isolation" for the reason behind the attack.

Family members of suspect Payton Gendron, 18, told The New York Post that he "likely snapped" from isolation caused by the pandemic. Gendron, the sole suspect in the case, showed clear signs of mental instability prior to going to the Tops Friendly Market and specifically targeting black people with a semi-automatic rifle.

"I have no idea how he could have gotten caught up in this. I blame it on COVID,'" Sandra Komoroff told The Post, a 68-year-old cousin of Gendron's mother. "He was very paranoid about getting COVID, extremely paranoid, to the point that his friends were saying he would wear the hazmat suit [to school]."

Comment: More from Miami Standard:
Law enforcement officials have provided an update after a gunman shot and killed at least 10 people in an attack on a Buffalo area grocery store. The suspected shooter, who was taken into custody, described his political beliefs as "mild-moderate authoritarian left" in a manifesto reportedly written by him. Leftist politicians and pundits have attempted to pin the shooting on numerous right-leaning figures, including President Trump and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

The suspected gunman, an 18-year-old male, reportedly posted his manifesto online prior to carrying out the attack.

Leftist pundits and politicians have pointed to references to the great replacement in an effort to tie his attack to right-wing/conservative movements. Far-left U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressly called "white supremacy and gun violence threats to all of our communities" in a tweet condemning the attack.

Others tried to pin the attack on Tucker Carlson of Fox News.

...

But in the manifesto supposedly written by the Buffalo shooter, he referred to himself as politically aligned with the left. The gunman described his ideology as "mild-moderate authoritarian left" and agreed with describing himself both "left" and "right wing" depending on the definition.

He noted that he does not describe himself as "conservative", however, calling it "corporatism in disguise." He also pronounced support for the gay community, though he called transgenderism a "mental illness."
And from Rebel News:
Authorities described Gendron's actions as an act of "racially motivated extremism." Gendron, who wore a "sonnenrad," a symbol used by white nationalist groups and most notably Ukraine's Azov Battalion in their official logo mimicked the Christchurch mass shooter by writing white supremacist messages and phrases on his firearm, including the names of other mass shooters.

...

Gendron surrendered to police after the shooting spree, which saw a total of 13 people shot. 11 of the victims were black. Gendron was charged with first-degree murder and immediately given a special arraignment following his arrest.

If convicted, Gendron faces life in prison without parole. He pleaded not guilty.

In his manifesto, Gendron stated that his goal was to surrender to the police and that he desired to witness the outcome of the events following his arrest.

Authorities said on Sunday that the suspect drove to Buffalo from his home several hours away on Friday to reconnoiter the location. On Saturday, he drove to the Tops Friendly Market, where he broadcasted his killings in real time on the Amazon-owned livestreaming service Twitch — links to which he had advertised on the websites 4chan and 8chan. The feed was promptly removed minutes after being reported by viewers.

Armed with a semi-automatic rifle and dressed in tactical garb, Gendron opened fire on several shoppers immediately after exiting his vehicle in the parking lot and made his way into the store, where he killed several others. Authorities recovered two other firearms — a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun — in his car.

...

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told ABVC News that an investigation would focus on what authorities could have done to prevent Gendron from carrying out the massacre, who appeared to have advertised his intent online for months before the shooting.

"I want to know what people knew and when they knew it," she said.
