McCain think tank goes after first amendment, wants to shut down RT to "knock Putin on his heels"

The First Amendment suffered a beating in broad daylight this week as a neoconservative think-tank headed by Senator John McCain released an article calling for the US government to put the squeeze on RT's assets.

In the latest 'McCainikaze' attack on President Putin, RT and anything else that happens to inhabit the 11 time zones from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, David J. Kramer offers an embarrassingly reckless plan to "knock Putin on his heels."

Yes, at the very same time the Russian leader has his hands full battling Islamic terrorists that US smart bombs just aren't smart enough to hit, Kramer, senior director for human rights and democracy at the McCain Institute for International Leadership, has decided it's a good time to go after RT.

"Wouldn't it be nice to go on the offensive, in a non-military way, to knock Putin on his heels, while also shutting down his odious propaganda machine? Here's how it can be done," schemes Kramer.

Civilian casualties of the Saudi-led bombing in Yemen have reached 6,318, according to the local health ministry.

Over 1,000 children have been killed since the start of the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen, spokesman for the country's Health Ministry Tamim Shami said Wednesday.

Comment: This 'war' is really yet another act of genocide waged against an entire population:

The Russian Air Force has conducted 71 sorties targeting 118 terrorist targets in Syria over the past 24 hours, including an Al-Nusra Front command center, the Defense Ministry reports.

The number of sorties has risen due to the increased amount of confirmed intelligence information on Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) facilities, Major-General Igor Konashenkov told journalists on Wednesday.

The strikes hit targets in Idlib, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Latakia and Damascus provinces. Russian jets have bombed hidden, as well as non-operational, terrorist military facilities.

A short history of the pathological Neocon quest for empire - all we knew and worse

star wars neocons
Embracing the dark side for their galactic ambitions

When Bill Kristol watches Star Wars movies, he roots for the Galactic Empire. The leading neocon recently caused a social media disturbance in the Force when he tweeted this predilection for the Dark Side following the debut of the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Kristol sees the Empire as basically a galaxy-wide extrapolation of what he has long wanted the US to have over the Earth: what he has termed "benevolent global hegemony."

Kristol, founder and editor of neocon flagship magazine The Weekly Standard, responded to scandalized critics by linking to a 2002 essay from the Standard's blog that justifies even the worst of Darth Vader's atrocities. In "The Case for the Empire," Jonathan V. Last made a Kristolian argument that you can't make a "benevolent hegemony" omelet without breaking a few eggs.

And what if those broken eggs are civilians, like Luke Skywalker's uncle and aunt who were gunned down by Imperial Stormtroopers in their home on the Middle Eastern-looking arid planet of Tatooine (filmed on location in Tunisia)? Well, as Last sincerely argued, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru hid Luke and harbored the fugitive droids R2D2 and C3P0; so they were "traitors" who were aiding the rebellion and deserved to be field-executed.

A year after Kristol published Last's essay, large numbers of civilians were killed by American Imperial Stormtroopers in their actual Middle Eastern arid homeland of Iraq, thanks largely in part to the direct influence of neocons like Kristol and Last.

Comment: It's been a long, twisted road to get where we are today. Hopefully, as Russia makes more and more obvious the lies and hypocrisy of the American Empire, its hold on the world will wane. It may not be possible to hurl it into the abyss, but it maybe it can be starved into oblivion.

Russian no-fly zone effectively blocks US, UK and Israeli forces from bombing Syria

It appears that, after a few weeks of Russian bombing in Syria, a new kind of "no-fly zone" seems to have been established. However, this "no-fly zone" is not focused on preventing Syrian planes and military forces from operating inside the country. Instead, it functions as a barrier to Israeli and American air forces seeking to enter Syria through the Mediterranean Sea in order to support terrorists and jihadists against the secular government of Bashar al-Assad.

This is because of Russia's Naval presence in the port of Tartus and its new presence just off the coast of Latakia, particularly with ships like the guided missile cruiser Moscow. The ship left Crimea on September 24 and is part of what Russian media is referring to as training exercises.

Another victory for Putin: US now open to Iran's participation in Syrian talks

The US has surprisingly given up its opposition to Iran's participation in the talks on Syria. Earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of Iran's involvement because it could play an important role in the resolution of the conflict, DWN wrote.

The United States is now expecting Iran to participate in the new talks on the Syrian issue.

"We anticipate that Iran will be invited to attend this upcoming meeting in Vienna," the US State Department spokesman, John Kirby, said on Tuesday in Washington.

Comment: The US changes its tune and yields its opposition to Iran coming to the table. Maybe Washington hopes that will help save face, since their 'opposition' really doesn't count for much these days.

China 'not frightened of war with US' - Chinese media after Spratly Islands destroyer incident

The presence of the USS Lassen near the disputed Spratly Islands is a "political show" to be dealt with calmly, China's nationalistic Global Times wrote, stressing the country "is unwilling but not frightened to fight a war with the US in the region."

The passage of the US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Lassen past an artificial island in the Subi Reef of the Spratly archipelago remains under the scrutiny of Chinese military, diplomacy and media.

China's Global Times, known for being closely aligned with China's communist party, published an op-ed entitled: "After the show, it's time for US destroyer to leave", which expressed an unusually cocky opinion of the incident.

"We should stay calm. If we feel disgraced and utter some furious words, it will only make the US achieve its goal of irritating us," the article says, in its analysis of the nature of US harassment. "It seems that the US only wants to display its presence."

The Stock Act is worthless: Members of Congress continue to engage in insider trading

insider trading
Earlier this month, it was reported that less than two weeks before the economic collapse of 2008, several members of Congress took their money out of the stock market. Many high-ranking government employees were given a heads-up about the impending market crash in secret meetings with the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. Then they used that information to engage in insider trading.

It was revealed that Senator Shelley Capito and her husband sold $350,000 worth of Citigroup stock at $83 per share, just one day before the stock dropped to $64 per share. Another shady trader was Congressman Jim Moran, who had his biggest trading day of the year days after the secret meeting, sellings stock in nearly 100 different companies.

These actions would be illegal for any American in any other circumstance, but members of Congress and high-ranking government officials are actually exempt from insider trading laws.

Saudi regime plot to attack Damascus foiled by Russia: Report

Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman
The Saudi regime with the help of Jeish al-Islam terrorist group had prepared a plan to attack Damascus from the Southern provinces after Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the Syria-Yemen swap proposal by Saudi Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman, media reports said.

The Saudi deputy crown prince gave his proposal to President Putin in a meeting in Moscow on June 19, the Arabic-language Al-Akhbar newspaper wrote.

Comment: No rest for the wicked. Saudi Arabia needs to realize that its position of supporting terrorists is untenable.

Changing trade winds: Israel wants free trade zone with Eurasian Union ASAP

Image

Tel Aviv intends to clinch the deal on a free trade zone with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) "as soon as possible", says co-chair of the Russian-Israeli Trade Commission Zeev Elkin.

The negotiations between Israel and the EEU are being given the "highest priority," TASS quotes the minister as saying.

"We have asked the Russians to begin negotiations in early 2016 and conduct at least two rounds of talks next year...As a rule, at a normal pace, such an agreement can be signed within two years," said Elkin.

He said the final deal depends on the difficulty of issues faced during negotiations, but said Israel is actively working to kick off talks as soon as possible.

"We believe that it has great potential for the Israeli economy, and for the countries of the [EEU]. I believe there is no reason to delay this," said Elkin.

Israel will be able to increase trade with the five members of the Union by 6-8 percent; Russia will see an increase in investment and technology transfer.

Comment: Looks like Israel feels which way the trade winds are blowing.
