Don't be convinced Russia hacked the Clinton emails

Last summer, cyber investigators plowing through the thousands of leaked emails from the Democratic National Committee uncovered a clue. A user named "Феликс Эдмундович" modified one of the documents using settings in the Russian language. Translated, his name was Felix Edmundovich, a pseudonym referring to Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky, the chief of the Soviet Union's first secret-police organization, the Cheka.

It was one more link in the chain of evidence pointing to Russian President Vladimir Putin as the man ultimately behind the operation.

During the Cold War, when Soviet intelligence was headquartered in Dzerzhinsky Square in Moscow, Putin was a KGB officer assigned to the First Chief Directorate. Its responsibilities included "active measures," a form of political warfare that included media manipulation, propaganda and disinformation. Soviet active measures, retired KGB Major General Oleg Kalugin told Army historian Thomas Boghart, aimed to discredit the United States and "conquer world public opinion."

As the Cold War has turned into the code war, Putin recently unveiled his new, greatly enlarged spy organization: the Ministry of State Security, taking the name from Joseph Stalin's secret service. Putin also resurrected, according to James Clapper, the U.S. director of national intelligence, some of the KGB's old active-measures tactics.

On October 7, Clapper issued a statement: "The U.S. Intelligence community is confident that the Russian government directed the recent compromises of emails from U.S. persons and institutions, including from U.S. political organizations." Notably, however, the FBI declined to join the chorus, according to reports by the New York Times and CNBC.

Two co-leaders of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) and at least 12 of its MPs have been arrested as police raided homes in Ankara and Kurdish-majority areas in eastern Turkey. The arrests are linked to "terrorist propaganda" cases, Reuters said.

The Turkish Interior Ministry has published a list of 11 of the detained HDP members, stating that they had been arrested on the orders of the local prosecutor. Another two MPs slated for arrest were found to be outside the country, and no decision has yet been made on whether to detain two more members.

The arrests of People's Democratic Party (HDP) deputies for "failing to testify on terrorism-related causes" has sparked a furious reaction from Kurds, who poured out into the streets of European cities in protest.

Hundreds of HDP supporters swept through Berlin, blocking several streets to protest the detention of the pro-Kurdish party's two co-leaders and at least 11 of its MPs in the wee hours of Friday morning.

The activists have been shouting "fascist Erdogan" and other slogans, accusing the Turkish government of employing terrorist methods against the Kurdish population. Some of the protestors are waving HDP banners and images of the arrested politicians.

Spontaneous demonstrations have been staged all over Germany, including in major cities such as Stuttgart, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Hannover.

Germany has the large Kurdish diaspora in the world, numbering up to 800,000 people, and German cities have often become arenas for clashes between Kurds and supporters of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the last few years.

Over a hundred people have staged an on-spot rally in front of the parliament building in Vienna.

In the UK, hundreds of members of the local Kurdish community gathered in front of BBC's London office at about 3am, and security has reportedly been beefed up at the entrance to the building.

The demonstrators held up a banner reading: "Kurdish existence under attack in Turkey! Politicians jailed, councils seized. A nation under siege."

Best of the Web: Sickos: Wikileaks reveals Podesta bros participate in disturbing, occult-themed "spirit cooking" involving copious bodily fluids?

Marina Abramovic podesta
Voters might want to see this before heading out to the polls on November 8th.

It's being called the "most bizarre Wikileaks email to date."

A leaked email from Clinton campaign manager John Podesta shows John's brother Tony inviting John and his wife Mary to take part in a "spirit cooking" dinner at the home of occult "artist" Marina Abramovic.

"Dear Tony, I am so looking forward to the Spirit Cooking dinner at my place," Abramovic wrote June 28, 2015 in an email sent to Tony Podesta. "Do you think you will be able to let me know if your brother is joining?"

Tony forwarded the message to his brother on the same day, writing:
Are you in NYC Thursday July 9
Marina wants you to come to dinner
Mary?
While you might assume spirit cooking to be something having to do with Native Americans, it's actually some weirdo sex magick involving buckets of blood and the consuming of all manners of human bodily fluids.

Comment: Wikileaks confirmed to journalist Craig Murray that the email is not a joke:
murray spirit cooking
Might put this story in context: Large number of FBI agents view Killary as the "antichrist personified"

It's damage control time: No, John Podesta's Spirit Cooking Dinner Wasn't About Devil Worship. According to Ms. Katie Pavlich at Townhall, there's nothing to it. Abramovic just invited the Podesta's over for a promotional dinner for her Spirit Cooking cookbook.
Second, this dinner was about a "cookbook" and weird art, not devil worship. [SOTT: Says who?]

Marina Abramovic is an artist (a strange, extreme artist) and published a "cookbook" called Spirit Cooking in 1996. The "cookbook" was featured at New York City's MoMa art museum. She was hosting a dinner at her home promoting the "cookbook" and invited the Podestas.
...
The dinner likely included a real dinner and Abramovic giving a presentation of her "art." [SOTT: What, you don't know for sure?]
So the dinner was about a "cookbook" Abramovic published 20 years ago? Gee, that sounds plausible. And no, the "cookbook" wasn't featured at MoMa, at least not according to their website. The only exhibition she had there in 2015 featured her "Transmissions" art series, and started on September 5, three months after the emails in question. The only good point she makes is that "we have no proof Podesta did or did not attend the dinner." But the very fact that Tony knew her and seemed geared up to go speaks volumes.

And lest readers think Abramovic is just another strange artist, check out the tweets above, and below:

Two US military trainers have been killed in a gunfire exchange at the gate of Jordan's military base, media reports, citing Jordanian security sources.

"There was an exchange of fire at the entrance to the base after an attempt by the trainers' vehicle to enter the gate without heeding orders of the guards to stop," a Jordanian military source told Reuters.

Comment: According to the war department spokesman, three U.S. service members died. One Jordanian officer was wounded, "apparently shot in the neck by the US service members": "According to reports, US military trainers were fired on when their vehicle failed to stop at the gate of the Al Jafr airbase near the southern town of Mann."
Pentagon Works With Jordan to Determine Circumstances of Deaths of 3 US Soldiers
The US Department of Defense is working with the Jordanian government to clarify circumstances of a shooting incident that left three American servicemen dead, the department's spokesperson Peter Cook said in a statement on Friday.

Three US military service members were killed in a shooting at a military base in southern Jordan earlier in the day.

"We are saddened to report that three US service members were killed today in a shooting incident at a Jordanian military base," Cook stated. "We are working closely with the government of Jordan to determine exactly what happened."

According to reports, US military trainers were fired on when their vehicle failed to stop at the base's gate.

The Jordanian Armed Forces said it was investigating a shootout at the gate of the King Feisal Airbase near the town of Manna. One Jordanian officer was also wounded, apparently shot in the neck by the US service members.

A Department of Defense spokesman told Sputnik that the department was investigating the reports.

FBI Director instructs all special agents to report for work immediately - Top down arrests imminent

FBI Agents

FBI Director James Comey issued a mandate late Thursday instructing all available special agents from the Washington D.C. field office and Hoover Building headquarters to report to work immediately, federal law enforcement sources told True Pundit.

"We're preparing for many arrests from the top down," the FBI source said. "I cannot elaborate beyond that."

When pressed to better define what "from the top down" meant in terms of possible suspects, the source refused to elaborate.

"You're a smart guy; read between the lines," the source said.

Based on case protocol, the FBI is either preparing to conduct sweeping search warrants in the Clinton Foundation investigation or ready to start arresting suspects. Or both. If a grand jury has been convened by the Justice Department since Comey's decision to re-open the Hillary Clinton case last week, then the FBI could make arrests if indictments were handed down by Thursday (yesterday). If not, it is more likely FBI agents are being amassed for multiple simultaneous raids on suspects' homes and businesses to secure warrant-backed evidence.

Will search warrants be served on Friday? Based on FBI protocol, Friday raids are unorthodox in cases not involving kidnappings or investigations where human lives are at risk. Preparation for wide-scale raids can take 48 hours or more, depending on how many targets are in play.

The leader of Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who urged his followers to "not retreat" from Mosul when faced with Iraqi forces, has fled the city himself, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has revealed.

The terror leader's reported escape comes after al-Baghdadi released an audio recording telling his followers to keep fighting until the bitter end to hold the city, which is Islamic State's (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) last major foothold in Iraq.

Al-Baghdadi told his followers in Arabic to "make their blood flow like rivers."

'This is treason': FBI speculates that five spy agencies could've accessed Killary's email server

As election day draws near, accusations against both US presidential candidates are becoming more and more brutal, with Fox News reporting the FBI believes up to five foreign intelligence agencies managed to hack into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

According to the report, there is about a 99 percent chance that the server used by then-Secretary of State Clinton for work communications in violation of security protocols was compromised. The allegations were confirmed by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, who said that FBI director James Comey had told him about the exposure previously.

"She exposed [information] to our enemies," the Republican representative from Texas said on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday morning. "Our adversaries have this very sensitive information... In my opinion, quite frankly, it's treason."

McCaul added that there are concerns not only about the content of the emails, but also access to the communication protocols of special access programs used on government-issued electronic devices.

Two Chris Christie allies found guilty in the Bridgegate scandal

Bill Baroni, the former deputy executive director of the Port Authority, and Bridget Kelly, Governor Chris Christie's former deputy chief of staff, were convicted on all counts for their role in lane closings of the George Washington Bridge in 2013.

The federal jury took five days to reach a verdict in the scandal that led to an epic traffic jam at the George Washington Bridge following the illegal lane closing.

Prosecutors argued Kelly and Baroni plotted with Christie ally David Wildstein to close lanes at the bridge and create gridlock in September 2013 to punish the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee for not endorsing Christie for re-election.

They were indicted more than a year ago on nine counts of conspiracy and fraud in connection with a scheme.

The most serious charges carry up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for February, 2017.

Flashback Bill Clinton worked closely with Al Qaeda: "Helped Turn Bosnia into Militant Islamic Base"

bosnia herzergovina map
Bill Clinton supported Al Qaeda in Bosnia and Kosovo in the 1990s as confirmed by RPC Congressional documents; Hillary Clinton has supported Al Qaeda and the Islamic State (ISIS-Daesh) in Syria.

This article was first published in 2002.

Known and documented, since the Soviet-Afghan war, recruiting Mujahideen ("holy warriors") to fight covert wars on Washington's behest has become an integral part of US foreign policy.

A 1997 Congressional document by the Republican Party Committee (RPC), while intent upon smearing President Bill Clinton, nonetheless sheds light on the Clinton administration's insidious role in recruiting and training jihadist mercenaries with a view to transforming Bosnia into a "Militant Islamic Base".

In many regards, Bosnia and Kosovo (1998-1999) were "dress rehearsals" for the destabilization of the Middle East (Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen).

With regard to Syria, the recruitment of jihadists (according to Israeli intelligence sources) was launched prior to 2011 under the auspices of NATO and the Turkish High command in liaison with the Pentagon.

Chilcot says Blair eroded public trust, did long-term damage to UK politics over Iraq war - but refuses to call him a liar

Former British PM Tony Blair resorted to rhetoric unsupported by any compelling evidence when he promoted the Iraq invasion to his cabinet and the British people, eroding public trust and inflicting long-term damage on UK politics, Sir John Chilcot said.

The author of the 2.6-million-word inquiry into the UK's involvement into the US-led invasion in Iraq in 2003, Chilcot told the House of Commons Liaison Committee on Wednesday that he could "only imagine" how much time it would take to repair the trust of the UK public in politics damaged by Tony Blair, who manipulated public opinion and his own cabinet by strong words into invading Iraq, rather than presenting hard evidence.

"I think when a government or the leader of a government presents a case with all the powers of advocacy that he or she can command, and in doing so goes beyond what the facts of the case and the basic analysis of that can support, then it does damage politics, yes," Chilcot said, as cited by the Independent, after being questioned about the longstanding repercussions of Blair's policy.
