The FBI: The silent terror of the Fourth Reich

"After five years of Hitler's dictatorship, the Nazi police had won the FBI's seal of approval."— Historian Robert Gellately

"Adolf Hitler is alive and well in the United States, and he is fast rising to power."—Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, on the danger posed by the FBI to our civil liberties

Lately, there's been a lot of rhetoric comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. The concern is that a Nazi-type regime may be rising in America.

That process, however, began a long time ago.

In fact, following the second World War, the U.S. government recruited Hitler's employees, adopted his protocols, embraced his mindset about law and order, implemented his tactics in incremental steps, and began to lay the foundations for the rise of the Fourth Reich.

Sounds far-fetched? Read on. It's all documented.

As historian Robert Gellately recounts, the Nazi police state was initially so admired for its efficiency and order by the world powers of the day that J. Edgar Hoover, then-head of the FBI, actually sent one of his right-hand men, Edmund Patrick Coffey, to Berlin in January 1938 at the invitation of Germany's secret police—the Gestapo.

The FBI was so impressed with the Nazi regime that, according to the New York Times, in the decades after World War II, the FBI, along with other government agencies, aggressively recruited at least a thousand Nazis, including some of Hitler's highest henchmen.

All told, thousands of Nazi collaborators—including the head of a Nazi concentration camp, among others—were given secret visas and brought to America by way of Project Paperclip. Subsequently, they were hired on as spies and informants, and then camouflaged to ensure that their true identities and ties to Hitler's holocaust machine would remain unknown. All the while, thousands of Jewish refugees were refused entry visas to the U.S. on the grounds that it could threaten national security.

Adding further insult to injury, American taxpayers have been paying to keep these ex-Nazis on the U.S. government's payroll ever since. And in true Gestapo fashion, anyone who has dared to blow the whistle on the FBI's illicit Nazi ties has found himself spied upon, intimidated, harassed and labeled a threat to national security.

As if the government's covert, taxpayer-funded employment of Nazis after World War II wasn't bad enough, U.S. government agencies—the FBI, CIA and the military—have fully embraced many of the Nazi's well-honed policing tactics, and have used them repeatedly against American citizens.

Indeed, with every passing day, the United States government borrows yet another leaf from Nazi Germany's playbook: Secret police. Secret courts. Secret government agencies. Surveillance. Censorship. Intimidation. Harassment. Torture. Brutality. Widespread corruption. Entrapment. Indoctrination. Indefinite detention.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on the ratification of the agreement with Ankara on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.

The lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, ratified the agreement on January 20, while the upper house, the Federation Council, ratified the document on February 1.

Moscow and Ankara signed an intergovernmental agreement in October 2016 envisioning the construction of two underwater legs of the gas pipeline in the Black Sea. The annual capacity of each leg is estimated to reach 15.75 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Pipe-laying work for the Turkish Stream is expected to begin in 2017 and end in late 2019.

Nothing learned: Four battles that broke the Ukrainian army

Ukraine Army
The latest fighting near Avdeevka in Ukraine repeats the same disastrous tactics which led to the Ukrainian army's previous defeats in the "cauldrons" along the Russian border (the 'southern cauldron'), in Ilovaisk, at Donetsk airport, and in Debaltsevo.

The latest fighting in and around the eastern Ukrainian town of Avdeevka is being represented as the product of a supposedly new Ukrainian 'infiltration' tactic whereby Ukrainian troops are said to insert surreptitiously into no-man's land thereby gradually gaining territory and putting the eastern Ukrainian militia at a disadvantage.

In my opinion this is wrong. The latest 'infiltration tactic' is simply a variant of the same tactics the Ukrainians have used throughout the war, which is to attack headlong, putting their troops in an untenable position, which causes them to suffer heavy losses for no actual gain, and in which certain cases leads them to becoming surrounded in pockets which the militia calls "cauldrons".

The militia use of the term "cauldron" (sometimes translated as "kettle") to describe how these pockets work.

The first wave of four new NATO battalions has arrived at a military base in Eastern Europe close to Russia's border, with the alliance claiming it's driven to deter alleged 'Russian aggression' in the region.

Several hundred soldiers from Germany arrived at the Rukla military base in Lithuania on Tuesday. Expected to be deployed just some 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Russian border, the German troops are reported to be heading up the NATO force in the country, with Belgian, Dutch and French soldiers scheduled to join them later.

The battalion will reach its full strength of some 1,200 troops in the spring, AFP reported.

Not remembering her lines: US congresswoman advocates impeaching Trump because Putin's attacking... Korea?

Maxine Waters
© NTK Network / YouTube
Representative Maxine Waters has argued that US President Donald Trump will inevitably be impeached because of his alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin who she claimed is "advancing in Korea."

Waters, a 13-term Democrat from Los Angeles, has called for Trump's impeachment several times now, however she has yet to explicitly accuse the president of breaking the law.

Speaking to reporters with other House Democrats, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Waters sought to explain why she is pushing for Trump's impeachment less than a month into his term in the White House.

"I am not calling for the impeachment yet. He's doing it himself," Waters claimed.

West Bank: Israel MPs legalize 4K settler homes, bill blasted by attorney general

The Israeli parliament has greenlighted the legalization of nearly 4,000 settler homes in Area C of the West Bank as it passed a controversial retroactive bill. Prior to its approval, the bill was likened to annexation and blasted by Israel's attorney general.

The highly controversial legislation, which challenges both international and Israeli law, was backed by 60 Knesset deputies and opposed by 52 on Monday. The so-called Regulation Bill has sparked heated debate with voting having been postponed several times. The bill has drawn widespread condemnation from the opposition, the UN and also the state prosecutor's office.

Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit has repeatedly voiced his concerns over the bill's compliance with international norms, saying it is in violation of Israel's constitution and international law, while refusing to defend the bill before Israel's High Court of Justice (HCJ). He also warned that Israel might face legal action from the International Court of Justice once the bill is enacted.

The law covers Israeli settlements and outposts built on private Palestinian land in the Area C of the West Bank. Outposts, the settler homes not approved by the government, are deemed illegal under Israeli law. Pursuant to the new law, the settlers will be allowed to remain on the Palestinian private land if they had no previous knowledge that it had been owned by Palestine or were instructed by the government to build homes there. The law also envisages compensation for Palestinian owners, who will be paid a market share for their land but will not be able to sell it.

Comment: Guess who determines the 'market share' value.

Comment: "...the decision was aimed at "resumption of normal life in Judea and Samaria, and in order to provide a real answer to living and housing needs in the region." For Whom?!! We are seeing a swift escalation in emboldened, brazened disregard for law and rights. Does Bibi feel so secure with Trump at the US helm to pull out all the stops, take whatever he wants, and give everyone else and all forms of legality the finger?

Reality disconnect: EU politicians fret over Trump while ignoring the war raging in Ukraine

Malta summit 2017

If ever an image captured the dysfunctional nature of the European Union it was the assembled leaders of the 28 member states photographed at an ancient fortress on the Maltese island this week.

Talk about "fortress mentality"! The European presidents and prime ministers were scheduled to deal with migration from North Africa as a threat to the bloc's stability.

But instead, their summit was dominated by the issue of US President Donald Trump and the shared perception that the new occupant of the White House poses an urgent challenge to the EU.

"Prime ministers and presidents at Malta summit line up to scorn Trump's conduct, accusing him of lack of respect," reported the Guardian.

French President Francois Hollande even said that if the EU did not unite to oppose Trump's populist nationalism, then the bloc was doomed to collapse.

The irony of the European leaders' existential apprehensions about the new American president is laughable. For months, these same European politicians have been led by the nose by Western state propaganda alleging it was Russian President Vladimir Putin who is the top threat to EU stability.

The fate of the Dakota Access Pipeline could be decided by Friday

The Army Corps of Engineers may reach a decision over the approval of construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline as soon as Friday. If approved, construction in the disputed territory could resume before the Army Corps complete an environmental impact analysis.

The saga of the Standing Rock protests could come to a conclusion by Friday, according to a statement from Justice Department lawyer Matthew Marinelli. While Marinelli gave no indication about the outcome of the decision, President Donald Trump issued an order last month demanding that the review be fast-tracked, the Chicago Times reported.

The contested land is considered sacred by North Dakota's Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and the pipeline would run under Lake Oahe, which is the primary source of water for the tribe. Dakota Access, the Texas based consortium behind the Dakota Access Pipeline, defended its right to build on the land by suing the Corps. Dakota Access claimed they met all the requirements for clearance.

However, the partner company behind Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) has not helped their case. On Monday, the anti-pipeline environmental group Louisiana Bucket Brigade released a study claiming that ETP and Sunoco frequently had spills and accidents. Between 2015 and 2016, the company was found to be responsible for 35 pipeline spills that caused a reported $300,000 damage.

Lawyers for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe argue that construction cannot continue until after the Army Corps fulfills its pledge to conduct a thorough study of the environmental implications of the pipeline.

Kremlin critic, Vladimir Kara-Murza, Jr., diagnosed with 'acute poisoning' from undetermined substance...twice

The wife of well-known Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza, Jr., who fell critically ill last week in Moscow for the second time in two years, said doctors have diagnosed him with "acute poisoning by an undetermined substance." Yevgeniya Kara-Murza told RFE/RL on February 6 that samples of her husband's blood, hair, and fingernails have been sent to a private laboratory in Israel in an effort to identify the toxin that triggered his sudden illness.

"We want to get some samples tested again to try to determine what this 'unidentified' substance may be," she told RFE/RL in a Facebook message. Doctors at the Moscow hospital where Kara-Murza is being treated could not immediately be reached for comment.

Kara-Murza, 35, was hospitalized on February 2 and placed in an intensive-care unit. His wife said later that her husband had suffered kidney failure and was on life support after being placed in a medically-induced coma. She said he was still in a coma on February 6 but his condition had stabilized.

His friends and family say his symptoms closely resemble those he suffered in May 2015, when he abruptly fell ill in Moscow and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Deliberate Poisoning?

Kara-Murza, who spent two months in hospitals in Moscow and outside Washington, D.C., believes his 2015 illness was the result of a deliberate poisoning with a sophisticated toxin and that he was targeted for his political activities.

Comment: Kara-Murza may be a sacrificial person of convenience. As stated: Western curators of Russian "freedom fighters" are always ready to sacrifice them, if their death will benefit them more.

Scottish parliament takes symbolic vote, rejects triggering of Brexit vote

Scotland Brexit
© imago stock&people / Global Look
The Scottish parliament has voted against invoking Article 50, formally opposing the UK government starting the Brexit process.

In a non-binding vote, the MSPs voted 90 to 34 to oppose the UK government triggering Article 50.

MSPs were voting on a Scottish government motion that argued the UK government's European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) bill currently making its way through the Commons should not proceed.

The motion said the UK government has "refused to give a guarantee on the position of EU nationals in the UK, has left unanswered a range of detailed questions covering many policy areas regarding the full implications of withdrawal of the single market, and has provided no assurance that a future parliamentary vote on the outcome of the negotiations will be anything other than irrelevant."

The motion is not a legal obstacle for the UK government.
