What? There's a deep state in America?!

© WhoWhatWhy
Imagine my surprise when, on my flight back from San Francisco to New York, that's what my trusty New York Times revealed to me. My first thought was: I can't believe how this horrible Donald Trump has set up a Deep State in less than a month?! Surely Russia was involved in its formation.

Then again, I strangely find myself thinking a lot about Russia these days. I'll admit it - when my morning breakfast was late it fleetingly occurred to me that the Kremlin was behind this slowdown in my hotel room service.

Putting that aside, I was immediately relieved when by the 3rd paragraph our nation's paper of record had put to rest my fears of an unprecedented formation of a US Deep State with, "Not quite, experts say...."

Whew. I just don't put anything past the evil capabilities of the Donald!

Comment: A wonderful 'tongue-in-cheek' exposé of 'the times' and The Times. The deep state is not so much a structure but an inside system that maneuvers and manipulates the pulse of the nation without electability, accountability or approval. It seeks to work undetected, but the Trump win exposed the beast, an unexpected turn of events that impacts politics, big money and the road forward.

Bombshell report: Police confirm former UK Prime Minister raped dozens of children and the government covered it up

Edward Heath
Sir Edward Heath
In what will likely turn into the largest pedophile bombshell in recent history, Sir Edward Heath, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has reportedly been accused by the police chief as being a pedophile. His vile crimes against children were allegedly 'covered up by the establishment.'

More than 30 people have now come forward with claims of sexual abuse by the former leader of the Conservative Party and PM. Police investigators told the Daily Mail that the victims all gave 'strikingly similar' accounts of the sexual abuse and none of the individuals were known to each other.

On Sunday, the Daily Mail revealed that the police chief investigating the Heath case said the allegations against him are '120 per cent' genuine.

The original investigation began last year as Heath's alleged victims began coming forward. Disgraced DJ Jimmy Savile's nephew alleges his friend was sexually abused by former Prime Minister at parties in the 1970s.

Guy Marsden, whose uncle abused more than 500 victims aged between five and 75, alleges his friend was abused by Heath at age 14. Now, it appears more and more victims are coming forward — with strikingly similar stories.

Michael Flynn's resignation and how the US Deep State committed treason

Michael Flynn
The shortest tenure of a presidential national security advisor in history goes to General Mike Flynn, who resigned after controversy over his Russia call about sanctions and misleading Vice President Mike Pence of the nature of that call.

The leak regarding Flynn's conversation was illegally made public by the US deep state.

ISIS piles more defeats and humiliations on Erdogan in Al-Bab

ISIS in Al Bab, Syria
Contrary to boasts of victory by Turkish President Erdogan and his generals, ISIS throws back Turkish assault on ISIS held Syrian town of Al-Bab, inflicting heavy losses on Turkish troops.

A week after Turkish President Erdogan declared victory for the Turkish army in its fight with ISIS for the strategically important town of Al-Bab in northern Syria, it has been confirmed that ISIS has driven back the Turkish troops besieged the city, inflicting on them heavy losses.

It seems that the Turkish troops and their 'Free Syrian Army' allies have lost all the territorial gains in and around Al-Bab that they had made, and which caused President Erdogan to make his triumphant victory declaration of a week ago.

Saudi FM wonders why Iran never attacked by terrorists, hints at 'deal'

Tehran, Iran
© Sputnik/ Vladimir Fedorenko
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel Jubeir suggested that a possible deal could be preventing Iran from being attacked by terrorist organizations such as Daesh and al-Qaeda.

A major diplomatic row between the Shiite-dominated Iran and a range of Sunni-ruled countries, including Saudi Arabia, followed the execution of the prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr by Saudi authorities in January 2016.

Comment: Sounds like Jubeir is upset that the Saudi funded ISIS terrorists aren't hitting their preferred target. He also neglects to mention that Israel has never been attacked by ISIS either.

Looming dollar shortages threaten indebted economies amid weak growth

Slowing global economic growth and mounting debt burdens in advanced and emerging economies alike are a hazardous backdrop for the alarming squeeze in global dollar supply, stemming from US trade protectionism and higher Federal Reserve's interest rates.

For the first time since the height of the global economic crisis in 2009, the lack of affordable dollar liquidity is putting many of the world's economies at risk of being unable to finance and service their obligations.

With the US Federal Reserve having raised their borrowing costs over the past 15 months, and disruptions in international trade stemming from the protectionist agenda of Brexit and the Trump administration, the inflow of dollar liquidity is becoming increasingly limited for export-reliant nations.

The Oxford Martin School is based at Oxford University in the UK and has set up the 'Oxford Martin Commission for Future Generations' (OMC). Bringing together international leaders from government, business and civil society, the OMC aims to address the growing short-term preoccupations of modern politics and business and identify ways of overcoming today's gridlock in key international negotiations.

The OMC's website says that this diverse group of highly respected global leaders has called for a radical shake-up in politics and business to deliver progress on climate change, reduce economic inequality, improve corporate practices and address the chronic burden of disease.

Any institution committed to radically shaking up politics and business should be both willing and able to call to account powerful private interests and not be compromised by ideology or conflicts of interest. However, campaigner Dr Rosemary Mason wrote to the OMC last year to state that such things do appear to be undermining its stated aims. She expressed concern that OMC commissioners have allegiances with various global corporations that could undermine the neutrality and credibility of the commission. She went on to name certain individuals and noted their links to corporate power.

The agrochemicals industry continues to get away with crimes against humanity and the environment. Not everyone can grow their own or afford to eat healthily all the time and no one can escape the pollution and destruction of the environment and the impacts. The aim must be to educate, organise, agitate and inform the wider public who are gradually waking up to the reality of a corrupt food system.
"The model of production dominating European food systems is controlled by corporate interests and is based on concentrated power, monocultures, patenting seeds and livestock breeds, imposing pesticides and fertilisers.... it is a system perpetuated by ineffective regulation and unjust laws. Across Europe we are developing and supporting local food systems, swapping local seeds, realising peasants' rights, building the fertility of our soils, and strengthening and increasing the resilience of local production and food webs. We need to strengthen local food cultures and public policies that support links between producers and consumers... ."

Italy's Former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi resigned as Democratic Party's Secretary on Sunday during the opening speech at the party assembly.

Renzi is officially leaving as leader of the Democratic Party after the inner opposition threatened to split from the party because of disagreements over holding party assembly and the conduct of the snap elections before the term of the current Italian government expires.

"The word 'split' hurts me, but blackmail is even worse. It is unacceptable that the work of the party will stop, because of the minority dictatorship," Renzi said.

Washington wants coalition of Sunni regimes to fight Iran, but Tehran would completely crush them

We know it's a badly-abused cliché, but we really did laugh out loud after reading that Washington is "working to create a military alliance of Sunni Arab nations" to "counter" Iran.

Close your eyes and imagine NATO. Are you seeing visions of an incompetent, useless dinosaur that can't tell the difference between a wedding party and a terrorist pow-wow? Now clear your mind and imagine a NATO-like coalition with Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as members. Imagine that this coalition of medieval failures had one mission, and one mission only: to provoke a war with Iran.

No need to include US in Ukraine peace talks, German FM says and Tillerson agrees

Foreign Ministers of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, France Jean-Marc Ayrault, Russia Sergey Lavrov and Germany Sigmar Gabriel, Security Conference in Munich
© Sven Hopp / ReutersForeign Ministers of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, France Jean-Marc Ayrault, Russia Sergey Lavrov and Germany Sigmar Gabriel, Security Conference in Munich, Germany February 18, 2017.
German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel says he sees no need to add the US to the current format of four-way ministerial meetings concerning the Ukraine settlement, noting, however, that close contact with Washington on the matter is "necessary."

"There must be close contact with the United States, but we think this [Normandy] format... should be maintained," Gabriel said after he met with his Russian, French, and Ukrainian counterparts on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday. The Minister added that the matter had been discussed with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and that he had "agreed with this."

There have been reports of possible expansion of the four-way Normandy format by adding other countries to the peace process in the east of Ukraine, primarily the US. Most recently, former Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk said that the Normandy format must be taken to a new "higher level" with the participation of the US.
