Trump-Netanyahu: When one state is better than two

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States last week, to meet with new President Donald Trump, was overshadowed by other events, not least the resignation of National Security Advisor General Mike Flynn.

That's a pity, as despite the rather negative headlines, Trump's shifting of the US position on the so-called 'Two State Solution' could actually turn out to be good news for those who want to see peace and progress in the Middle East.

"I'm looking at two-state and one-state, and I like the one that both parties like," Trump said at a joint news conference with Netanyahu on February 15.

US commander wants more boots: Troops may be sent to Syria

More US troops may be needed in Syria to speed up the campaign against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), the top commander for the Middle East has stated, specifically referring to the push to liberate Raqqa.

"I am very concerned about maintaining momentum," General Joseph L. Votel, the head of the United States Central Command, told reporters, as quoted by CBS News.

He said local forces being supported by the US "don't have as good mobility, they don't have as much firepower, so we have to be prepared to fill in some of those gaps for them," noting that such support may involve additional fire support capability and "a variety of other things" to help "offset some of the gaps."

"It could be that we take on a larger burden ourselves," he said. "That's an option."

The Russian Aerospace Forces have eliminated more than 3,000 militants, including 26 warlords, in Syria, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Wednesday. The aircraft have made 1,760 sorties in 2017. The minister underscored the key role of special task forces in the fight against terrorists.

The aviation carried out 5,682 airstrikes on terrorist infrastructure. As a result, 40 training camps, 475 command posts, 45 ammunition plants were destroyed, and 3,119 militants eliminated.

"The Special Operations Forces of the Special Purpose Military Units have demonstrated their high efficiency. They played a key role in the elimination of terrorists and destroying critical enemy targets and adjusting our aircraft strikes," Shoigu said at the lower house of Russian parliament's government hour.

US Navy reports Saudi frigate was hit by drone boat, not suicide bomber

A top US Navy official is reporting that a Houthi vessel responsible for an attack on the Saudi frigate Al Madinah in late January was actually the work of a drone boat filled with explosives, instead of a suicide bomber, as previously reported.

Vice Adm. Kevin Donegan, who heads the US Naval Forces Central Command and commands the US Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain, told Defense News, "Our assessment is that it was an unmanned, remote-controlled boat of some kind."

Donegan said that this is the first recorded use of this kind of weapon, and indicates foreign aid to the Houthis, a Yemeni armed political opposition faction with longstanding claims to the territory. The commander is worried, "first that it is in the hands of someone like the Houthis. That's not an easy thing to develop. There have been many terrorist groups that have tried to develop that, it's not something that was just invented by the Houthis. There's clearly support there coming from others, so that's problematic."

James O'Keefe of Project Veritas tells Hannity insider leaks targeting #fakenews media is coming

James O'Keefe of Project Veritas is set to unleash holy hell Thursday on #FakeNews network CNN. Well, he didn't exactly say it was CNN, but it was heavily implied. Apparently the network has a mole...

O'Keefe is known for undercover sting operations which have led to such bombshells as the DNC's paid agitator network, the outing of "DisruptJ20" / Antifa organizers which took place at comet ping pong - and netted three arrests (including a suspected pedophile), and most recently New Hampshire election fraud.

Comment: If this release is anything like their previous work, Project Veritas could very well send the #fakenews media into a meltdown:

Azarov's bombshell: Ukrainian ex-PM reveals who was behind Maidan sniper deaths

Three years ago this week, dozens of people, protesters and police alike, were gunned down in Kiev by mysterious snipers, leading to intensified pressure against authorities and culminating in the Maidan coup. Three years on, ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has compiled his take on the snipers' identity. But Kiev is trying to destroy the evidence.

This week, tens of thousands have taken to the streets of Kiev to mark the third anniversary of the Maidan protests, which began in November 2013 and culminated in the ouster of unpopular but democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych on February 22, 2014. The 2014 protests erupted after Yanukovych delayed the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and began negotiations on joining the Eurasian Economic Union instead.

Ninety-nine percent of Russia's intercontinental ballistic missile launchers are combat-capable, while 96 percent are ready to be used on short notice, ensuring an efficient strategic deterrent, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told MPs.

"The intercontinental ballistic missiles launchers are being maintained in a way that allows to ensure a nuclear deterrent," Shoigu told Russian MPs at a State Duma session on Wednesday.

"Ninety-nine percent of the launchers used by the Strategic Missile Forces are combat-capable, and 96 percent of them are permanently ready for immediate use," Shoigu said.

Russia's Strategic Missile Forces - the backbone of the country's defense capabilities - are currently part of a massive rearmament and modernization program, the minister said. The military has received 41 upgraded ballistic missiles, one Borei class fourth-generation nuclear-powered submarine, the 'Vladimir Monomakh', and four modernized Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers.

Faustian deal: Serbia will be forced to give Kosovo independence and impose sanctions against Russia if it wants to join EU

In order to become an EU member state Serbia apparently would have to recognize Kosovo's independence and impose sanctions against Russia.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has publicly announced that these demands will soon be publicly declared by EU authorities as the official conditions for Serbia's membership in the Union, according to Radio Television of Serbia.

As President Nikolic explained, these two conditions were relayed to him by Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement, during one of the latter's visits to Belgrade, and were in fact mentioned during a joint press conference back then.

ISIS calls for backup: Israel bombs Syrian Army positions near Damascus

Israel bombs Syrian army positions on the eve of peace talks in Geneva

Syria peace talks are expected to begin this week in Geneva. And what are the Israelis doing? Bombing Syrian Arab Army positions near the Lebanese border.

Because as we all know, the Israelis are really good at these "ceasefire" things. Especially when they have no business interfering in any way in a conflict:
Minutes ago, an Israeli warplane conducted an airstrike over the western countryside of Damascus, targeting the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) positions in the Qalamoun Mountains near the Lebanese border.

A Syrian Army source told Al-Masdar this morning that the Israeli warplane had crossed into Syria after flying over Lebanon's 'Arsal Barrens, where both Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (ISIS) are headquartered in the eastern Beqa'a Governorate. The Syrian Army source added that the specific location of the attack was in the Jard Nalhleh area of the Qalamoun Mountains.
Oh, isn't that interesting? The Israelis flew over ISIS and al-Qaeda positions — but saved their bombs for the Syrians. Quite telling.

Comment: Gotta protect your investment.

Trump introduces new immigration rules including 'expedited removal' of illegal aliens

President Donald Trump's latest immigration crackdown rules reveal a plan to introduce the "expedited removal" of illegal aliens, along with increasing the number of immigrants who are not given a court hearing before being deported.

The rules, outlined in two memos released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday, states that the Department's personnel have "full authority to arrest or apprehend an alien whom an immigration officer has probable cause to believe is in violation of the immigration laws."

A plan to establish more detention facilities is also outlined.
