The Scottish Parliament is being subjected to a sustained "brute force" cyber attack, according to officials.

There's no evidence the attack has breached the parliament's defenses, officials added in a statement.

The attack involves hackers attempting to systematically crack politician's passwords, STV News reports.

In an email the Scottish Parliament Chief Executive Sir Paul Grice told MSPs that the systems remain under threat.

"At this point there is no evidence to suggest that the attack has breached our defenses and our IT systems continue to be fully operational," he said, but warned: "Users should be aware, however, that this attack remains ongoing."

Grice added that it's "not uncommon for brute-force attacks to be sustained over a period of days."

Georgia judge suspended for comparing removal of Confederate monuments to 'ISIS destroying history'

A judge in Gwinnett County, Georgia has been suspended for comparing those taking down Confederate monuments to the terrorist group Islamic State. There has been a nationwide push across the US to remove Confederate symbols from public squares.

"The nut cases tearing down monuments are equivalent to ISIS destroying history," Judge Jim Hinkle wrote on Facebook Tuesday, the same day protesters in Durham, North Carolina toppled a statue honoring Confederate soldiers.

On Saturday, Hinkle had written that protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia were "snowflakes" with "no concept of history," as they came to counter a rally of white nationalists who gathered to oppose the planned relocation of a statue to Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

"In Charlottesville everyone is upset over Robert E. Lee statue," Hinkle's post said. "It looks like all of the snowflakes have no concept of history. It is what it is. Get over it and move on. Leave history alone - those who ignore history are deemed (sic) to repeat the mistake of the past."

Trump's brinksmanship towards North Korea - and the real reasons behind it

Trump is pursuing several ulterior motives in sparking a new crisis with North Korea.

There are many explanations floating around which seek to answer the question of why Trump has all of the sudden decided to prioritize North Korea.

The conventional view has to do with a combination of Pyongyang's repeated missile tests in violation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctions and the related need to "justify" the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) deployment right on Russia and China's doorstep.

These points are certainly valid and serve as the most obvious reasons behind Trump's actions, but there's more to it than people might initially think.

Trump doesn't just need to "justify" THAAD's Northeast Asian deployment in the eyes of Russia, China and the international community at large, but most importantly he needs to convince his new South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-In that this move is in his country's best interests.

Lavrov says Venezuela crisis must be resolved 'without outside pressure'

Sergei Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the crisis in Venezuela should be resolved peacefully and without external intervention.

Lavrov said on August 16 that Venezuela must "overcome differences that exist in that country exclusively in a peaceful manner, via national dialogue, without any outside pressure -- without speaking of the unacceptable threats of military interference in the country's internal affairs."

He was speaking following talks with Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Huanacuni Mamani in Moscow.

Lavrov's comments came after U.S. President Donald Trump said on August 11 that he was looking at all options on the South American country "including a possible military option," prompting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to order the armed forces to hold exercises.

Looking for an excuse to attack? Israeli media reports Iran building weapons factories in Syria and Lebanon

Israeli media are reporting that Iran is building a factory in northwest Syria to manufacture long-range rockets.

The reports feature satellite images showing a site under construction in northwest Syria near the Mediterranean coastal town of Baniyas that purportedly could be used to produce and store the weapons.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned recently that Iran is augmenting its presence in Syria as the six-year civil war there has turned more favorably toward Tehran's ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"Our policy is clear: We vehemently oppose the military buildup by Iran and its proxies, primarily Hizballah, in Syria and we will do whatever it takes to protect Israel's security," Netanyahu said in a speech last week.

Saboteurs trained by CIA to be sent to Crimea and Donbass

WWII photo of Germans training young boys
Saboteurs are being trained in Ukraine by CIA instructors to be sent to the Crimea and the Donbass Republics. There's a real 'pipeline' of talent at work - one group is sent after the next group. The process can stop only after the change of the Ukrainian Nazi ruling regime - ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev told "PolitNavigator".

"As long as this power exists in Ukraine, it will pose a threat to Russia, to Russian citizens and will in every possible way provoke a war. If they are afraid to go to open military actions, they will do terrorist acts.

And, proceeding from the fact that the entire branch of work with Russia, the Crimea, the People's Republic of Lugansk and the People's Republic of Donetsk is supervised by the guys who work directly for the CIA, it will be so. The mechanism is running, and they will send in group after group.

US President Donald Trump announced he is terminating the Manufacturing Council and the Strategy & Policy Forum after several CEOs resigned, citing Trump's comments about the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia at the weekend.

President Trump made the announcement on his Twitter account on Wednesday. The decision follows the resignation of 11 CEOs, including AFL-CIO president Richard Trumpka, Under Armour's Kevin Plank, and Intel's Brian Krzanich.

The flurry of resignations began Monday after Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier announced he had quit the council, stating: "America's leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry and group supremacy."

Democrats join the insane call to remove Confederate statues

erasing history
The left is continuing their push to erase all Confederate monuments.

Just like ISIS, liberals are running from town to town, tearing down our Confederate statues, in the name of progressiveness and political correctness.

It's one of the most disgusting and disturbing things I have witnessed from the left.

Confederate statues today...

What will it be tomorrow?

Books, movies, classic music?

Where does the left-wing purge of all "offensive" culture end?

US Vice President Mike Pence has asked Chile, Peru, Mexico and Brazil to break diplomatic and other ties with North Korea, as part of a campaign to pressure Pyongyang into giving up missiles and nuclear weapons.

"It's imperative that the regime in Pyongyang understand that all options are on the table," Pence said on Wednesday in Santiago, in a joint press conference with Chilean president Michelle Bachelet.

"Our hope is that Chile, Brazil, Mexico and Peru will join us in breaking all ties with North Korea," he said.

Latin American countries severing diplomatic ties with North Korea will "facilitate a peaceful outcome" and show Pyongyang that "there is a cost" for defying the will of the international community, Pence said.

The FBI won't charge its paid informants who participated in Charlottesville violence

Charlottesville violence
FBI insiders said it is unlikely leaders of the radical groups that clashed in demonstrations turned deadly in Charlottesville, VA will face prosecution.

Why?

FBI said they have already identified several federal informants who participated in the mob-like riots over the weekend in Virginia. The FBI is also now working those sources to piece together the events from Charlottesville, sources said.

But FBI agents have deemed the newly-minted investigation dicey, having to navigate separate agreements with embedded intelligence assets while trying to pinpoint responsibility for the violence.

Late Saturday, the Justice Department announced the federal probe. The investigation, spearheaded by the Richmond, VA FBI field office, was launched after an Ohio man drove his car through a crowd of demonstrators killing one woman and injuring dozens.

The FBI has Intel assets implanted in several white supremacy sects, as well as the radical ANTIFA group, according to federal law enforcement sources who spoke to True Pundit.
