Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers have carried out strikes on the most important Daesh and Al Nusra Front facilities in several Syrian provinces, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said the airstrikes were carried out in the provinces of Idlib and Deir ez-Zor. The bombers took off from the Engels airfield in Russia, flew over the territory of Iran and Iraq and launched Kh-101 cruise missiles against the targets, he explained.

"The sudden strikes destroyed a number of terrorist command posts, troop concentrations, and military equipment, as well as ammunition depots," Konashenkov said in a statement.

Konashenkov stressed that all the targets were far away from any villages, US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions or US security service strongholds.

Russia has responded - as it always does, methodically and asymetrically - by advancing Syrian-Russian control of the country, successfully building a temporary bridge across the Euphrates and pounding 'ISIS' positions in Deir ez-Zor and Idlib provinces.

Syrian FM Walid Mouallem: Syria has information about US helicopters evacuating terrorists, blames Erdogan for Kurdistan referendum

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mouallem said the Syrian authorities obtained information, based on eyewitness accounts, that US helicopters are evacuating the fleeing terrorists and are transporting them elsewhere.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen channel, Mouallem said that Washington's forces pick up the terrorists and then transport them to various battlefields.

The Syrian Foreign Minister noted that what is happening in the Kurdistan region of Iraq and northern Syria right now comes as a result of the Turkish support for terrorists, stressing that once Turkey realized it failed to achieve its objectives in Syria and could no longer get a hold of the situation, the Kurdish issue emerged.

In this context, Moallem pointed out that he informed the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari that Syria recognizes a unified Iraq and that any step towards its partition are being slowly rejected by Damascus.

Another Russiagate fail: Infamous Facebook ads catered to both sides of political spectrum

Facebook building

That was quick.

Less than a week after Facebook agreed to turn over to Congressional investigators copies of the 3,000-odd political advertisements that the company said it had inadvertently sold to a Russia-linked group intent on meddling in the 2016 presidential election, the contents of the ads have - unsurprisingly - leaked, just as we had expected them to.

Congressional investigators shared the information with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team, which has repeatedly allowed information about its investigation into whether members of the Trump campaign actively colluded with Russian operatives to leak to the press. Once this happened, we knew it was only a matter of time before the ads became part of the public record.

And, shockingly, descriptions of the ads provided to the Washington Post hardly fit the narrative that Democratic lawmakers have spun in recent weeks, claiming the ads - which didn't advocate on behalf of a specific candidate, but rather hewed to political issues like abortion rights - were instrumental in securing Trump's victory.

Russia has conducted a successful test launch of the RS-12M Topol intercontinental ballistic missile, the Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that the test data would be used for the development of future missile penetration aids.

The test launch was performed at the Kapustin Yar range in Russia's southern Astrakhan Region, the ministry said, adding that the test warhead successfully hit its target at a range in Kazakhstan.

The launch was aimed at testing the advanced combat equipment of the Russian missiles, and the experiment data obtained during the test will be used to develop prospective means of breaching 'enemy' missile defenses for use in Russian ballistic missiles, the ministry said in the statement.

Kurdish independence movement in Iraq and Syria: How a new chaos is redefining the Middle East's borders

kurdish referendum
Multiple 'yes' votes in Kurdish referrendum?
There is no doubt that most Iraqi Kurds will say "yes" to the referendum and start materialising the dream of the 30 million Kurds inhabiting Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Armenia, a dream of establishing an independent state in Kurdistan-Iraq to start with. Despite the announcement of the Iraqi Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani that the referendum is only the beginning of a negotiation with the central government in Baghdad (and not a "divorce" from the state of Iraq) he hopes (and most probably knows) that the independence will be recognised as a fact by the international community sooner or later. For certain, this referendum - if its result is implemented - can lead to a redefinition of the map of the Middle East, and the countries of Iraq and Syria to start with where Kurds in both countries control enough energy resources to sustain their "state". Leaders around the world said - during the war in Syria - that the Middle East would never return as it was to before 2011, probably referring to the "Islamic State" (ISIS) occupation of large part of Syria and Iraq. But today, their prediction may come true through the Kurds - even though the "Islamic State" (ISIS) "project" failed to reach its objective, that of dividing Syria and Iraq.

Thus, the Kurdish will to establish an independent state is giving greater power to Turkey, holding the key of the Kurdish future state and to the partition of the Middle East. In fact, in Iraq, Ankara will play a crucial role in the coming months/year in reshaping Mesopotamia and the Levant. Kurdistan exports its main oil revenue through Turkey, putting Erbil at Ankara's mercy. Therefore, if Turkey considers the independence a threat to its national security, it will not hesitate to send troops into Kurdistan, triggering probably numbness and little effective reaction from Baghdad. Moreover, media coverage which showed Iranian Kurds in Kirkuk encourages a free hand and a perfect excuse for Tehran, to hit these forces in Iraq if Erbil takes further measures towards independence.

Trump advisor Roger Stone takes his show to Capitol Hill, promises 'epic testimony'

The flamboyant Trump adviser promises 'epic' testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday

After months of taunting congressional Russia investigators from afar, Roger Stone, a longtime confidant of President Donald Trump, arrived Tuesday on Capitol Hill to meet them face-to-face for what he had promised would be "epic" testimony debunking charges of collusion between the Kremlin and Trump associates.

The Republican operative was set to testify behind closed doors as part of the House Intelligence Committee's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. But officials were braced for his unique brand of theatrics before, during and after the session, not least because Stone had said he would bring a reporter and cameraman to Capitol Hill with him. On Tuesday, Stone arrived with a reporter for InfoWars - the site anchored by Stone ally Alex Jones - who trailed him until he entered the secure hearing room.

Even while he testified behind closed doors, Stone's presence was evident. Five supporters, who identified themselves as members of Blacks for Trump, a group that often shows up at Trump rallies in support of the president, gathered outside the hearing room to show support for Stone. Their shirts read "Trump & Republicans are not racist."

Comment: Stone released his opening statement prior to his committee appearance:
Roger Stone, a longtime political adviser to Donald Trump, released his opening statement Monday that he plans to deliver to the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday.

The House Intelligence Committee is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and invited Stone to testify behind closed doors, despite Stone's requests for an open hearing.
"I am most interested in correcting a number of falsehoods, misstatements, and misimpressions regarding allegations of collusion between Donald Trump, Trump associates, the Trump Campaign and the Russian state.

I view this as a political proceeding because a number of members of this Committee have made irresponsible, indisputably, and provably false statements in order to create the impression of collusion with the Russian state without any evidence that would hold up in a US court of law or the court of public opinion."
The famed political operative known as a "dirty trickster" goes on to write, "There is one 'trick' that is not in my bag and that is treason."

The opening statement includes rebuttals to remarks from members of the committee that Stone says are false.

One example is ranking member Adam Schiff's comments in a hearing asking, "Is it a coincidence that Roger Stone predicted that John Podesta would be a victim of a Russian hack and have his private emails published, and did so even before Mr. Podesta himself was fully aware that [his] private emails would be exposed?"

However, Stone never made this prediction and simply tweeted, "Trust me, it will soon be the Podesta's time in the barrel."

"Note, that my Tweet of August 21, 2016, makes no mention, whatsoever, of Mr. Podesta's email, but does accurately predict that the Podesta brothers' business activities in Russia with the oligarchs around Putin, their uranium deal, their bank deal, and their Gazprom deal, would come under public scrutiny," Stone says in the statement. "Podesta's activities were later reported by media outlets as diverse as the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg."

Stone's opening statement concludes:
"Based on what we know now, it is clear that there was a foreign nation which was colluding with a presidential campaign in an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Therefore, I strongly urge this Committee to investigate the numerous, publicly documented contacts between Ukraine and the Clinton campaign, particularly in light of recent public reports that Ukraine is now providing sophisticated missile technology to North Korea."

Republican Sen. Gohmert: Arizona should recall John McCain during cancer treatment

Soulless McCain
© Associated Press/Cliff Owen (file)
Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., should be recalled because his cancer treatment may be hurting his ability to do his job in Congress.

"You know, nothing inhibits recovery from cancer like stress. I think Arizona could help him and us. Recall him. Let him, you know, fight successfully this terrible cancer. And let's get somebody in here that will keep the word he gave last year," Gohmert said on "Fox and Friends" Monday.

McCain this year voted against an Obamacare repeal bill and cost Senate Republicans the ability to pass legislation after seven years of promising to overturn it. On Friday he announced he is opposed to a new bill to reform the Affordable Care Act.

Comment: McCain is long past his due date. He should be removed from power before he can do any more damage to the world.

ISIS fighter admits terrorist group coordinates with US-backed Kurdish forces to undermine Syrian Army

Mohammed Moussa al-Shawwakh ISIS fighter
Moments ago a revealing video was released of an ISIS fighters operating in Deir Ezzor in Syria's east in which he admitted the terrorist group coordinates with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to undermine the Syrian Army.

Mohammed Moussa al-Shawwakh, the man speaking in the video, reveals that an ISIS commander known as Abu Zaid, gave an order that the surrounding area around Conoco Gas Field was to be evacuated so the US-backed SDF could takeover it before government forces could reach it.

Most startling however is that he goes onto claim that the US attempted to formulate an alliance between the SDF and ISIS operating in Deir Ezzor so that they could undermine the Syrian Army from liberating the rich oil and gas fields of rural Deir Ezzor.

Comment: More confirmation that the US is actively supporting terrorism and that plans for Syria have never really changed:

A convoy consisting of US armored vehicles carrying unidentified troops and Kurdish forces' vehicles was ambushed by ISIL on the al-Khirafi Highway in Hasaka province.

According to reports, although the US Humvees seemingly managed to escape the attack in the last minute, many members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were captured alive or killed in the raid.

It is not yet clear if the US troops or the Kurds were in the US armored vehicles.

Sources close to terrorists said in mid-August that tens of militants from the SDF fled clashes with the ISIL in the battle over Raqqa.

The sources said that after the SDF sustained a large number of casualties in clashes with the ISIL terrorists in the city of Raqqa, tens of Kurdish fighters fled the scene and returned to their villages near Hasaka.

With low morale, corruption and embezzlement in Ukraine, Poroshenko begs NATO for handouts

Poroshenko drunk

Despite financial injections of Western partners into the military budget of Ukraine, Poroshenko continues to travel around the NATO countries with an outstretched hand. Meanwhile, the AFU continue plunging into corruption and fabricating financial reports.

According to the information available to us, the AFU units located in the so-called 'ATO' zone received a large batch of BRDM-2 vehicles allegedly undergone a deep modernization, involving the installation of modern communication systems, but, however, did not solve the problem of the need for major overhaul of old machines.

Accustomed to Poroshenko's tales about the 'strongest' army in Europe, Prosecutor General Lutsenko was greatly surprised to visit the position of the 128 separate mountain infantry brigade. On the engineering equipment of the brigade's positions, billions of hryvnias were allocated, in fact, it turned out to be a cheap imitation of hastily built fortifications. In shock from what he saw, Lutsenko instructed to conduct an investigation into the theft of budget funds allocated for the construction of the second line of defense.
