Lawyers for a Russian tech executive suing BuzzFeed for publishing the Steele dossier say that a longtime associate of Arizona Sen. John McCain and two major news outlets are resisting subpoenas seeking their depositions for the case.

In a brief filed in federal court late Wednesday, lawyers for the executive, Aleksej Gubarev, claim that David Kramer, a former State Department official and McCain associate, "has been seemingly avoiding service" of a deposition subpoena for weeks.

And The New York Times and Wall Street Journal are challenging deposition subpoenas they have been served as part of the case.

Gubarev's lawyers are attempting to find out who gave BuzzFeed the salacious dossier, which the website published to much controversy on Jan. 10.

The dossier, written by former British spy Christopher Steele, alleges that Gubarev and his companies, XBT Holdings and Webzilla, used spam, viruses and porn bots to hack into DNC computer systems. Gubarev vehemently denies the allegations.

Sergei Samarsky
On the night of November 3, in the Kiev-occupied region of Donbass, Severodonetsk, the head of the "Petro Poroshenko Bloc - Solidarity party" for the region, Sergei Samarsky, was killed.

The head of the occupying "Lugansk Regional State Administration" (based in Severodonetsk, and is a parallel structure to the pro-Russian Lugansk Administration ) Yuri Garbuz, confirmed the information about the murder of Poroshenko's associate.

"The head of the faction of the Solidarity Party of the Severodonetsk City Council, public figure Sergei Samarsky, has been killed. Urgent investigative actions are continuing," wrote Garbuz on his social network page.

"Deputy Mayor" of Severodonetsk, Grigory Priegeb, offered condolences on his social media page, outraged by the "beastly" murder.

"At 01:30, we were made aware of the murder of Sergei Samarsky. Until 04:00 we worked with the investigator, on who could have ordered this?"

According to local media, the body of Samarsky was found around one in the morning. The search began after a statement by Samarsky's wife, who could not reach him by phone. At the same time it is known that he called his wife at about 6:00 pm, leaving the premises of the city council.

On the body, signs of a violent death are visible, including injuries to the skull. A number of Ukrainian media have reported that Samarsky was killed by a blow to the head with a brick. The investigation is continuing.

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee revealed on Sunday that the author of the Trump dossier has "refused" to meet with the panel to discuss his infamous report.

"This is a fairly damning indictment, and I wish Mr. Steele would talk to our committee. We've reached out. He's refused to do so, so far. We hold out the option that the chairman and I have said we'll meet him any place, anywhere," Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said on NBC's Meet the Press.

Warner, the vice chairman of the Intelligence committee, was talking about Christopher Steele, the former MI6 officer who began working on the dossier last June. Steele, who is based in London, met in recent months with investigators working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Further (unsurprising) revelations in the Syrian War - arms sales treaties routinely ignored

ISIS

The recent revelations by Edward Snowden the former national security agency whistle-blower about the role of Saudi Arabia in the ongoing war in Syria has raised fresh questions about role of Saudi Arabia and others in arming the various terrorist factions in Syria.

According to the documents released by Snowden, the Saudis were arming their terrorist proxies in Syria is early as March 2013. The documents also disclose that the National Security Agency of United States was fully aware of the actions of the Saudis and the terrorist proxies, and raised no objections because the United States and Saudi Arabia had a common goal of regime change in Syria. Saudi Arabia and other supporters of the terrorist proxies have continued to provide vast financial and military aid to the terrorist groups. This information needs to be put alongside other recent revelations about the supply of armaments to the terrorist groups.

A series of investigative reports by the Bulgarian Investigating Reporting Network (BIRN) has disclosed a whole network of illicit arms shipments to the Syrian terrorists by United States and its allies. This has continued notwithstanding that President Trump ordered the cessation of the arms supplies in July 2017. For example the Croatian island of Krk has been used as recently as September 2017 for United States arms shipments to the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia closes Yemen's border crossings, sea ports and airports after Riyadh-targeted missile is intercepted

The Saudi-led military coalition announced Monday that it is temporarily closing all of Yemen's land border crossings, sea ports and airports in response to a ballistic missile that targeted Riyadh on Saturday.

The missile was intercepted northeast of the Saudi Arabian capital, according to state media. Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the missile launch, Al Jazeera reported, citing a spokesman for the rebels. The missile had a range of more than 800km (500 miles) and flew more than 500km (300 miles) over the border.

According to the coalition's statement, cited by AP, the ban is temporary and will "take into account" humanitarian efforts in Yemen. The coalition blames Iran for supplying the missile to the Houthis, who say it was domestically made. Iran has stated it is supporting the Houthis, but has denied shipping weapons to them.

Are you angry about the DNC primary rigging? Thank Obama

clinton campaign
© Benjamin Lowy/Getty ImagesA Secret Service agent stands alert amid balloons that were released following Hillary Clinton's keynote address as she accepted the Democratic presidential nomination at the DNC on July 28, 2016.
In the fall of 2015, a year before the presidential election, the Democratic National Committee, we now know, was bought for the equivalent of a pawn shop by the campaign of Hillary Clinton.

The party organization was still deeply in debt from the 2012 campaign, owing millions to banks and vendors, burning through what little cash it had at a stunning rate of some $3 million to $4 million per month. By August 2015, the DNC was becoming unable to make payroll and approaching the equivalent of bankruptcy, according to a former senior party official, who requested anonymity, arguing that being quoted publicly criticizing the DNC in a news outlet connected to Intercept founder Glenn Greenwald, who is a critic of the DNC, would be damaging professionally.

And so the DNC, to save itself, sold everything to the only bidder. The Clinton campaign bailed out the DNC and, in exchange, effectively took it over, according to Donna Brazile, who served as the organization's acting chairperson from July 2016 to February 2017.

New FOIA documents reveal FBI scramble to preserve records in Uranium One scandal

An internet researcher has uncovered what appears to be proof that the FBI was investigating the Uranium One deal back in 2015 - months after the Peter Schweizer book Clinton Cash exposed the scheme, along with an article in the New York Times which laid out allegations of criminal malfeasance by the Clintons, their charitable foundation, and several associates.

Twitter user Katica (@GOPPollAnalyst) - who notably discovered Hillary Clinton's IT guy 'Stonetear' asking Reddit users how to strip Clinton's name from archived emails - discovered several Preservation and Records requests sent by an FBI special agent to various agencies involved in the approval of the Uranium One deal on August 28th, 2015, as first published by The Conservative Treehouse. Katica found the requests buried in an FBI file released via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Revealing Timeline

While the Clinton email investigation was launched in March of 2015 after it was revealed that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used a personal server and non-approved email accounts to conduct government business, reports from August, 2015 revealed that the FBI investigation was actually a criminal probe - though most assumed it was simply covering Clinton's mishandling of classified information and not the content of her emails.

What Katica discovered is that weeks after the criminal probe began, the FBI sent notices to every agency involved in the Uranium One approval process to preserve records.

Royal coup: What happened in Saudi Arabia last night — and how Washington corruption enabled it

Mohammad bin Salman al-Saud

The mass arrest of high-ranking Saudi businessmen, media figures and royal family members Saturday has shaken the global business community. Among 10 other princes and 38 others, the roundup netted Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the world's richest men, who owns significant shares in everything from Citibank to Twitter to the parent company of Fox News.

Prince Alwaleed has done business with President Donald Trump in the past, but during the campaign turned into a fiery critic, drawing Trump's Twitter ire.

The move against Alwaleed and the other officials was couched as the result of a secret investigation carried out by a "high committee on fighting corruption." Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa "hailed the royal decree," according to the Saudi Press Agency, saying, "this committee heralds a future of firmness against those who are trying to to undermine the capabilities of the homeland."

Comment: Something is cooking in the halls of power of the Middle East, and it does not smell good. Just as Mohammed bin Salman - who sees Iran as an enemy - was performing a coup of sorts in his kingdom, Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri - who also holds a Saudi nationality - announced his resignation while in Saudi Arabia, and blamed Hezbollah and Iran for his decision. Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu took the opportunity to speak yet again against Iran. And all of this comes a couple of days after the CIA released a dubious stash of 'secret documents' regarding Osama Bin Laden, including one that supposedly shows an old link between Iran and Al Qaeda (never mind that, unlike the CIA, Iran and Hezbollah are currently fighting Al Qaeda in Syria, aka Al Nusra, among other terrorist groups).

Is this the new plan in the making, now that the takeover of Syria via terrorist proxies has failed?
