Flip-flop: Pelosi now asking ethics committee to fast-track Conyers investigation

nancy pelosi
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a letter to the House Ethics Committee Tuesday asking that they expedite their investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment against Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), calling it a "watershed moment." Previously on Sunday, Pelosi called Conyers an "icon" who deserves "due process" but then walked that back on Monday, even saying she believes one of the women accusing him of misconduct.

"I know the demands on staff and resources can at times be overstretched," Pelosi wrote to the Ethics Committee. "Should you need any additional resources to fairly and swiftly pursue these investigations, please make that need known."

"We are at a watershed moment for our country in the fight against sexual harassment and discrimination," Pelosi emphasized in her letter. "The Committee on Ethics has a great responsibility to proceed expeditiously as well as fairly into any investigation of credible harassment and discrimination allegations.

Pelosi released a statement Monday about a conversation she had with a former staffer of Conyers who accused him of harassment.

Sudanese president looks to Putin for protection against US Empire

putin sudanese president

As the Sudanese President returned home from his trip to Sochi to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the world's media overwhelmingly seized on his plea that Moscow should provide protection to Sudan against the aggressive actions of the United States of America.

Other news outlets quoted Al-Bashir's veiled invitation to the Russians to establish a military base on Sudanese territory near the Red Sea; a political and diplomatic move that has emboldened Russia and put the rest of the region on alert. For what emerged from the presidential discussions were startling, to say the least, and has provoked a plethora of positive and negative reaction.

Al-Bashir's comments began by the statement that the visit to Russia had long been dreamt about and that Sudan was primarily opposed to the US interference in the domestic affairs of Arab countries, in particular US intervention in Iraq.

Judicial Watch says Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting docs to be released very soon - UPDATE

clinton lynch
Thank God for Judicial Watch!

President of Judicial Watch Tom Fitton taunted the Deep State Tuesday when he announced 'the cover-up begins to end' as new Clinton-Lynch tarmac docs are set to be released Thursday.

As previously reported, Judicial Watch forced the FBI to admit it has 30 new documents related to the infamous Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting in mid-October.

This is after the FBI originally told Judicial Watch they couldn't locate any records related to the tarmac meeting.

Fitton blasted the FBI!
"The FBI is out of control. It is stunning that the FBI 'found' these Clinton-Lynch tarmac records only after we caught the agency hiding them in another lawsuit. Judicial Watch will continue to press for answers about the FBI's document games in court. In the meantime, the FBI should stop the stonewall and release these new records immediately."

Comment: Big surprise: the FBI is stalling on release of the documents:

Unbridled hypocrisy: US State Dept condemns* designation of media as foreign agents (*only applies to Russia)

war on RT
© youtube.comDamn straight!
Today the U.S. State Department hit the ball of hypocrisy out of the park.

It remarked that "legislation that allows .. to label media outlets as 'foreign agents' ... presents yet another threat to free media". It noted that "freedom of expression-including speech and media ... is a universal human rights obligation".

The remark came after the U.S. Department of Justice required the Russian outlet RT America to register as a 'foreign agent' under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA). RT registered as ordered on November 13.

But the State Department statement was NOT in response to the DOJ requirement against RT. The State Department reacted to a new Russian law that was issued in response to the demand against RT. The new Russian law is a mirror to the U.S. FARA law. It demands that foreign media which are active in Russia register as 'foreign agents'. (The EU poodles followed the State Department nonsense with an equally dumb statement.)

With its criticism of the Russian version of the FARA law while ignoring the U.S. FARA action against RT, the State Department confirmed the allegations of hypocrisy RT and other media have raised against the U.S. government.

"Directly attributable to this media assault", Rep. Conyers hospitalized amid sexual misconduct allegations and House ethics probe

Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan) has been hospitalized amid accusations of sexual misconduct and a House Ethics Committee probe. Top House Democrat Nancy Pelosi (D-California) has called on him to resign.

Conyers is "resting comfortably in an area hospital, he's doing OK, as well as can be expected for a gentleman that is approaching 90 years of age," consultant Sam Biddle told Detroit's WDIV-TV.

"The congressman's health is not what it should be and a lot of that is directly attributable to this media assault," Biddle said. "The reality is these serial accusers have done this before, we're used to it."

Last week, BuzzFeed published a report that claiming that Conyers settled a wrongful dismissal complaint in 2015 with a former employee, who said she was fired for refusing his sexual advances and "blackballed" into accepting a settlement of $27,000.

Flashback The results of Vladimir Putin's 17 years in power

putin
Mr. Putin can't seem to get a break in the western media. I watched his recent interview with CBS's Megyn Kelly with her tiresome, boring questions like, "did Russia interfere in our election," "did your ambassador meet with Trump's election officials," "isn't it true that you're a corrupt murderous thug," etc. Only in response to Kelly's last question did Mr. Putin get to name a handful of his achievements in Russia. But someone ought to better prepare his talking points on this score. The below excerpt from my upcoming book summarizes how Russia has changed during the 17 years since Mr. Putin has been at helm.
Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit

Matthew 7:16
On 26th July 2014 British magazine "The Economist" published an article titled "A web of lies," opening with the following two sentences: "In 1991, when Soviet Communism collapsed, it seemed as if the Russian people might at last have the chance to become citizens of a normal Western democracy. Vladimir Putin's disastrous contribution to Russia's history has been to set his country on a different path." Well, we have already seen how Russia fared in the 1990s after Soviet communism collapsed. For some reason, the bright minds at The Economist thought this path was so promising, it was a real shame - a disaster, no less - that Vladimir Putin took Russia on a different one. Let's take a closer look, shall we, at Mr. Putin's "disastrous contribution."

To start with, Putin played the pivotal role in keeping the country from disintegrating. When he came to power, Russia's regional governors were writing their own laws, disregarded presidential instructions and were not even returning their republics' tax receipts to the Federation's purse. Mikhail Gorbachev stated that Putin "saved Russia from the beginning of a collapse. A lot of the regions did not recognize our constitution." [1] But this historical feat was only the starting point of the subsequent renaissance of the nation. Its economy returned to growth and became more vibrant and diverse than it had been perhaps since the reforms of Pyotr Stolypin of the early 1900s.

Comment: Despite what you hear in the mainstream news, the reality is that Putin has considerably improved life in Russia. And not just in Russia, Syria and Crimea as well. It is a shining example of what could be done when you have a caring enigmatic leader guiding the country. Unlike the Western world where the needs of the public are pushed aside by their leaders as they fight to maintain the status quo.

Le bouffon: 6 awkward comments Macron has made about Africa (videos)

French President Emmanuel Macron is on an African tour, presenting himself as the leader of a new generation that will not lecture Africans. Nevertheless, he has been handing out quite a bit of advice, and not all of it went down well.

'It's your president who should deal with electricity'

Speaking with students of the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, the French leader said that the tradition of African nations reproaching France whenever something goes wrong should come to an end.

The New York Times finally admits the obvious: It's a Democrat Super Pac

new york times
Journalists will often complain that readers don't properly understand the distinction between editorialists and reporters. To be fair, it's often quite difficult to tell. That's not only because of bias in coverage or because the Internet has largely wiped away the compartmentalization of the traditional paper, but because reporters now regularly give their opinions on TV, write "analysis" pieces, and make their ideological preferences clear on social media. Many news outlets - The Daily Beast, BuzzFeed, etc. - openly report from a left-wing perspective.

I'm not sure if this kind of transparency is necessarily a bad thing, but whatever the case, an editorial board is still run separately from the newspaper. It offers arguments regarding public policy and culture. Ideally, it publishes op-ed columns by an array of voices with varying points of view, occasionally even challenging its readers. When I was a member of an editorial board, our mission, at least as I saw it, was to offer rigorous, good-faith arguments for whatever point of view we were taking. I never once consulted anyone in the newsroom.

In his botched sting on The Washington Post this week, for instance, James O'Keefe demonstrated just how easy it is to either confuse the editorial board with the newsroom or to manipulate readers to confuse them. At some point, however, it also becomes the paper's fault, as well. What happens when an editorial board goes beyond arguing for liberal positions and debating policy to actively politicking for one party? There's a big difference between political discourse and partisan activism.

Adios liberal love-fest: Koch Brothers funded takeover of Time Magazine will lead to "significant jobs cuts"

Time magazine
The liberal love-fest party is over at Time.

Meredith Corporation plans to slash hundreds of jobs after it completes its $2.8bn acquisition of Time Inc as part of a cost-cutting plan reached with the Koch brothers, the conservative US billionaires who are minority investors in the takeover.

People briefed about Meredith's plans said there would be "significant jobs cuts" after the companies are combined. They added that the Iowa-based publisher would explore the sale of some of Time Inc's best-known titles, including Time magazine and Sports Illustrated.
