President Donald Trump reacted to the news that the Democrats had decided to sue his presidential campaign for an illegal conspiracy with the Russians to win the 2016 election.

"Just heard the Campaign was sued by the Obstructionist Democrats," Trump wrote on Twitter. "This can be good news in that we will now counter[sue] for the DNC Server that they refused to give to the FBI."

Despite the DNC claim that their emails were hacked by the Russians, they never turned over their server to the FBI for investigation.

"During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump's campaign," DNC chairman Tom Perez said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.

Trump added that he would like to sue for former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz's server and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's emails.

The lawsuit does not name the president, but rather his son Donald Trump Jr. and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. It also names his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Manafort's deputy, Rick Gates as well as George Papadopoulos and Roger Stone.

Donald Trump Jr. also reacted to the lawsuit on Twitter.

"How's the saying go? If for 2 years you don't succeed pedaling your garbage try try again?" he wrote with laughing emojis. "Also, do I get to take discovery since I'm named?"

China ignores US sanctions, instead boosts trade with Russia

putin china
The Chinese representative of the Ministry of Commerce has declared that US sanctions won't stop trade and economic relations between Russia and China, who pointed out that unilateral sanctions are not a particularly popular thing for the Chinese.

China is open to expanding trade with Russia across all sectors to the maximum extent possible, with Russia-China trade to grow at least 10% in 2018 to $100 billion.

EurAsia Daily reports:

Comment: Every move the US makes to hurt either China or Russia economically, only serves to strengthen the ties between them. The exact opposite of what they want to achieve - to undermine a Russia-China partnership. See also:

German Parliament law experts brand US-led airstrike on Syria illegal

According to lawyers of the Bundestag, the missile attack by the US-UK-France coalition, supported by the German Government, violates international law. The grounds that the strike was a retaliatory measure following an alleged chemical attack were dismissed as "not convincing."

The law experts of the German Parliament denounced the legal grounds for the US-led missile attack on Syria in a report requested by the left-wing party Die Linke.

"The deployment of military force against a state to punish it for breaking an international convention is a violation of the international law prohibiting violence," reads the report, as cited by the German Press agency DPA.

Deflecting blame: Israel claims that Hamas is behind Gaza protests to justify use of excessive force

Gaza protests april 2018
© Ashram Amra/APA ImagesPalestinian women wave Palestinian flags during clashes with Israeli security forces near the border with Israel, east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza strip, on April 15, 2018.
As the Great March of Return enters its fourth week in the besieged Gaza Strip, the activists behind the massive peaceful demonstrations have a message for the world:
"The Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, cannot bear the Israeli siege any longer," says Nabeel Diab of the National Commission to Break the Siege of Gaza. "The Palestinian people are eager to achieve their freedom, their independence, and their right to return to the villages where they were forced out of 70 years ago."
Diab is a member of a grassroots organization of activists who helped plan the march. He says the idea was born after the massive Nakba Day demonstration in 2011 when thousands of Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and the Palestinian territory marched to the borders with Israel to demand their collective right of return to their homelands.

Israel and its DNC friends whine that Trump didn't do more to destabilize Syria

Susan Rice J Street

Donald Trump launched air strikes on Syria over the weekend, and you may have noticed the reviews from Israel and its friends. The attacks were insufficient, and did nothing to destabilize the Assad regime or to keep Iran out of Syria. One Israeli official calls the Trump attack "mostly talk" that shows "actions are not going to follow."

Liberal interventionist Democrats agree. At the J Street conference this week - which is the Democratic Party Israel lobby - I heard several hawkish statements about Syria, including saber-rattling from two former White House security aides.

Susan Rice, former Obama national security adviser, criticized Trump for not threatening regime change:
We very clearly telegraphed and very clearly now twice have demonstrated that we are not prepared to use regime threatening force to deal with the chemical weapons challenge, and therefore I think our leverage is even less than it might have been on chemical weapons before.

Pathetic DNC lawsuit against Russia & Trump promises 'tantalizingly fascinating' blowback

Lionel interview
The Democratic National Committee's lawsuit against Russia, WikiLeaks and the Trump campaign is spurious and might spectacularly backfire, provided it doesn't get thrown out of court, legal and media analyst Lionel has told RT.

"If a judge does not dismiss this, I will be shocked," Lionel said, pointing out that the 56-page complaint doesn't actually name President Donald Trump and offers no evidence of guilt, only a "series of narratives: a story about here, a name here, Jared Kushner, Roger Stone, collusion..."

The Future of Asia: China's Economic Opportunities or America's Perpetual Conflict?

Chinese navy
The US recently announced possible plans to deploy thousands of additional US Marines to East Asia as part of the recently revealed 2018 National Security Strategy which designates China along with Russia as the US Department of Defense's "principal priorities."

The Business Insider in its article, "The US is considering sending heavily armed Marines to Asia to counter China," would state:
The possible MEU [Marine Expeditionary Unit] deployments could reassure Asian allies that the US is not a waning power in the region, something that has become a concern for partners in the Indo-Pacific.
However, if a nation needs to arrange a token redeployment to convince its allies it isn't a waning power, such gestures seem to only confirm such suspicions.

Doomed to Hegemony by an Ebola of Ideas

US Soldier
US President Donald Trump may have lit the fuse on an international cataclysm that is irreversible. Operating on supposed evidence by the questionable White Helmets group inside Syria, the United States and allies operated with pretentious impunity by attacking this sovereign nation. But this reckless abandon concurrent American administrations have exhibited did not simply materialize overnight. Here's a focused look at the underpinnings of hegemony, a disease we may have already succumbed to.

Another great war seems imminent at this moment. After eons of illogical wars and endless killing, our advanced society here at the dawn of the 21st century has cast logic and reason to the four winds. War with both Russia, Iran, Turkey and other regional powers in the Middle East is a real danger. But the impetus for this unbridled aggressiveness did not happen over some flashpoint like Crimea or the Caucasus. This crises
and the one in Syria are symptoms of a systematic idealistic disease. And the disease spreads from the point of each injection site as if administered by a clinician. One of these veins of political propaganda is academia, where the seeds of political wisdom are sewn. The US backed liberal world order has been infecting the planet via hypodermic injections of influence, money, and even brainwashing since before World War II. And today the world's organs are hot with the infection. If you'll excuse the metaphors, they are the only literary tools for sharing how critical the situation is. And for us to fix our current predicament, it is necessary for analysts like me to share the deeper implications of these crises, their causes, and possible solutions.

Merkel goes to Washington: Close allies divided over Russia sanctions

Merkel and Trump
Notwithstanding all the praises sung to the German-US partnership, often described as a bedrock of the transatlantic relationship, the new German government is trying to stand up to pressure from the US. It has to. The country has been hit hard by the Russia sanctions and is looking to end them.

Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Washington on April 27 - her first top-level meeting since she was reelected for her fourth term in March. Potential exemptions from the US sanctions against Russia will be one issue on that agenda. The US Treasury's new sanctions list was released on April 6. Germany wants to shield its business community from a big financial blow, with a waiver on restrictions granted to German companies such as Daimler and Volkswagen, the engineering giant Siemens, the software maker SAP, the Deutsche Börse's securities firm Clearstream, etc. The blacklist makes German banks hesitant to provide funding for the Nord Stream 2 gas project that is under construction and scheduled to be operational in 2020.

The Stench of Imperialism in Theresa May's statements

Theresa May
On April 16 the British prime minister, Theresa May made a speech to parliament setting out the "justifications" for Britain's participation on the aggression against Syria in the dead-of-night missile attack of April 14. Throughout her speech she dramatically referred to barrel bombs and the smell of gas in the air yet in the hall where she spoke it was the stench of imperialism that filled the air.

Like all fascists serving the cause of imperialism and the capitalist exploitation of working people the world over who rely on creating illusions to stay in power she repeated the same mantra of false accusations against Syria and Russia as all the NATO leaders have done in obedience to their imperial overlord. There is no democracy when the people who have hold of the government machine lie to the rest to accomplish their crimes. That is what she has done, at length, in fact committing treason, by misinforming parliament and the British people about the reasons for the aggression against Syria which have nothing to do with chemical weapons, the pretext, and everything to do with the geo-political and geo-strategic ambitions of the USA, Britain and France to control the resources of the middle east and beyond to Iran, Afghanistan and finally Russia itself. Their ambition is not to save people, as May claims, but to destroy any sovereign government that gets in their way and the consequences for the people of those countries be damned.
