Impeachment boomerang: Contacts exposed between US embassy and Burisma Holdings - Hunter Biden's Ukraine firm

During President Trump's impeachment, former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch testified to Congress that she knew little beyond an initial briefing and 'press reports' about Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian natural gas firm that had hired Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter and was dogged by a corruption investigation.

"It just wasn't a big deal," she declared under oath on Oct. 11, 2019.

But newly unearthed State Department memos obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show Yovanovitch's embassy in Kiev, including the ambassador herself, was engaged in several discussions and meetings about Burisma as the gas firm scrambled during the 2016 election and transition to settle a long-running corruption investigation and polish its image before President Trump took office.

Yovanovitch, for instance, was specifically warned in an email by her top deputy in September 2016 — three years before her testimony — that Burisma had hired an American firm with deep Democratic connections called Blue Star Strategies to "rehabilitate the reputation" of the Ukrainian gas firm and that it had placed "Hunter Biden on its board," the memos show.

She also met directly with a representative for Burisma in her embassy office, less than 45 days before Trump took office, a contact she did not mention during her impeachment deposition.

The discussions about Burisma inside Yovanovitch's embassy were so extensive, in fact, that they filled more than 160 pages of emails, memos and correspondence in fall 2016 alone, according to the State Department records obtained under FOIA by the conservative group Citizens United.

Tehran: 'Decisive response' will meet US attempts to intercept Iranian tankers

On Saturday, Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif slammed alleged plans by the US Navy to intercept Iranian tankers as "illegal, dangerous, and provocative" acts, which he said look like "an act of piracy".

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi has warned that "the US itself will have to suffer repercussions that arise out of any unthinking measure [that it could take]" against Venezuelan-bound Iranian fuel tankers. Mousavi told reporters in Tehran on Sunday:
"Should the Americans take any measure against our vessels' free and legal movement around, they would face our decisive response. If the US does not like a country, this does not give it any grounds to prevent legal trade among countries, [take them under] sanctions, and cause trouble for them".
Mousavi spoke as Iran's Press TV cited an unnamed Iranian military official as saying that "international waters should remain safe either for all oil tankers or none".

EU Commission: 'Russian media spreads Covid-19 conspiracies', offers no examples

An EU Commission spokesperson alleged, giving no details, that the Russian media and "Kremlin-friendly" sources push conspiracy theories about Covid-19. The news comes on the heels of anti-lockdown protests in Germany and the UK.

Not mincing his words, Peter Stano told German paper Bild am Sonntag:
"Our observations show that various official and state-backed sources from Russia - the Kremlin-friendly sources and Russian state media - are spreading conspiracy theories and disinformation within the EU, which can potentially have considerable effects on public health."

Comment: No irony there, given the global toll on humanity from the lockdown and global disinformation campaign years in the planning and execution.

Stano said that Moscow's goal is to "question the credibility and the ability of the EU and its member states to overcome the crisis, and to undermine public trust in local authorities." That said, the spokesperson did not provide any evidence of his allegations, and did not cite any examples of the conspiracy theories or disinformation he was referring to.

Comment: 'They' will squeeze all the benefits they can out of the remains of this global medical fiasco. It is a rare opportunity to wake up the clueless, obedient public to the power grabs. If they choose to remain asleep, it bodes a new and permanent reality. When we stop questioning, all is lost.

Propaganda outlet CNN claims Covid-19 'devastated' Moscow... Just because Russia actually bothers to test & isolate its sick

As the Russian capital ratchets up Covid-19 testing in a bid to eventually restore normal life, US broadcaster CNN has run a story hyping up the extent of the outbreak in Moscow and its spread to other regions of the country.

"Coronavirus has devastated Moscow. Now it's spreading across Russia's 11 time zones to ill-funded regions," says the strongly worded title of the piece by the network's Moscow bureau chief, Nathan Hodge.

However, the actual copy, albeit not offering much praise for the Russian authorities, offers a more sober view of the situation. Still, it has to attract readers somehow. The piece mentions Russia now firmly holding the second place when it comes to the total global number of Covid-19 cases, with more than 280,000 infected. Yet, while the figures are ahead of Britain's, they're far behind the US's. And Moscow accounts for more than half of all the country's infections and fatalities - an official statistic that is also cited in the CNN article.

No proof to support 'Russian assassin' story, Czech govt concedes - yet minister claims suspicions are still 'credible'

The Czech interior minister has admitted that Prague has no evidence against a Russian diplomat branded by media as a poison courier in an alleged assassination plot. It didn't stop the minister pushing the theory further, though.

An acting head of the Russian foreign aid agency's office in the Czech Republic, Andrey Konchakov, has recently found himself at the center of a scandal, after local media identified him as a suspected "spy" supposedly involved in a plot to assassinate several local officials.

Now, Czech Minster of the Interior Jan Hamacek is explaining that expelling the man could prove complicated precisely because mere suspicions do not give the state grounds for it. And it appears that mere suspicions are, in fact, all that Czech authorities have in this instance.

"One could expel him provided that one has concrete evidence that he is doing something [illegal] here. Unfortunately, as the whole thing develops, the police probably do not have this evidence," Hamacek told broadcaster Czech Television on Sunday.

Cuban Foreign Minister: Attack on Cuban embassy in Washington brings complicit silence from US government

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla discussed the April 30 attack on the country's embassy in Washington with the press yesterday, stating: "Here is the attacker, an AK-47 rifle, 32 shell casings, 32 bullet holes and a statement - by the perpetrator - of his intention to attack and kill"

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, during an online press conference, yesterday May 12, to discuss the April 30 terrorist attack on the Cuban embassy in the United States, stated: "Here is an attacker, an AK-47 rifle, 32 shell casings, 32 bullet holes and a statement - by the perpetrator - of his intention to attack and kill."

From the U.S. government we have received only silence, a silence that we know well, one that has accompanied violence against Cuba by groups based in U.S. territory for years. Every wave of terror was preceded by rabid campaigns of hate, rancor, threats, and attempts to discredit Cuba's work in the international arena, alongside tightening of the economic siege.

Comment: Russia also weighed in on this attack (which has been largely over-shadowed by other news recently):
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemns the April 30 armed attack on the Cuban embassy in Washington, which took place against the backdrop of continuous negative rhetoric targeting the island nation's government, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

"We are indignant over the April 30 armed assault on the Republic of Cuba's embassy in Washington," the ministry said. "It is evident that this crime was committed in the environment of threats against the Cuban government, systematically fuelled in the US even amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. No wonder the US media portrayed the attacker almost as a victim of the 'Cuban regime,' although it is obvious that he had committed a criminal act."

The ministry said that it expected the US to thoroughly investigate the incident, as, in line with the international law, every country is obliged to ensure the security of diplomatic missions on its territory.

What started as a bizarre and bogus conspiracy theory involving the novel coronavirus in Britain has apparently crossed the Atlantic Ocean, U.S. law enforcement officials believe, and they are now increasingly worried about the possibility for real-world violence.

"We assess conspiracy theories linking the spread of COVID-19 to the expansion of the 5G cellular network are inciting attacks against the communications infrastructure globally and that these threats probably will increase as the disease continues to spread, including calls for violence against telecommunications workers," the U.S. Department of Homeland Security reported Wednesday in an intelligence report obtained by ABC News.

Comment: Violent acts must be condemned along with the ill effects of 5G technology, main stream media's irresponsible collusion with Industries to promote the hysteria and out of proportion reaction to the coronavirus. See also:

US headed for another 'tanker war' with Iran - this time off Venezuela's coast

Iranian tanker
National Iranian Oil Tanker Company
Iranian state TV has announced at least five least five Iranian-flagged tankers are transporting fuel to Venezuela through the Atlantic Ocean and plan to break the American blockade on the Latin American country.

Iran has warned that any US attempt at intercepting its fuel tankers "would have serious repercussions for the Trump administration ahead of the November elections."

State-funded PressTV underscores that "Iran is shipping tons of gasoline to Venezuela in defiance of US sanctions on both countries in a symbolic move guaranteed by Tehran's missile prowess."

Both countries have been targeted under US sanctions and various levels of covert military action of late. President Trump has taken a personal interest in renewed pressure on Maduro, within the past months reportedly pushing his generals to go forward with a 'naval blockade' of the socialist nation.

Comment: Or not. The US also knows that both China and Russia support Venezuela - and that they may make some moves of their own to demonstrate their unwillingness to allow Venezuela to be further bullied.

Soros: We're now in 'revolutionary moment' that allows us to achieve the 'inconceivable'

George Soros

In a new interview, the left-wing billionaire called the coronavirus pandemic 'the crisis of my lifetime.'

Left-wing billionaire George Soros has indicated that the coronavirus pandemic paves the way for societal changes previously thought impossible, calling it "the crisis of my lifetime." Soros had lived through the Second World War as a youth.

"Even before the pandemic hit, I realized that we were in a revolutionary moment where what would be impossible or even inconceivable in normal times had become not only possible, but probably absolutely necessary," he said during an interview on May 11.

Comment: Lookout George - the "revolutionary moment" may not be what you're expecting: Covid-19 may be laying grounds for second American Civil War

Soros also said that "Europe is facing several existential dangers."

He was "particularly concerned about the survival of the EU because it is an incomplete union." While, according to the Hungarian-born billionaire, the European Union was "in the process of being created," that process "was never completed."

Thus, Soros said the EU was "exceptionally vulnerable - more vulnerable than the US not just because it is an incomplete union but also because it is based on the rule of law."

Comment: Oy! This article is far too kind to the maniacal financier and destroyer of nations George Soros.
