Lavrov reveals message from Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has conveyed a fresh message to Moscow on the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, although the statement offered nothing of value, according to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Russia's top diplomat made the remarks on Tuesday following talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.

While Moscow has been always ready to hear a "serious proposal" from Washington "aimed at resolving the current situation," the message from Blinken contained no such information, Lavrov stated.

"Minister [Shoukry] said that he conveyed a certain message from Secretary of State Blinken, who was recently on a visit to Cairo. I can confirm that," Lavrov said. The Russian diplomat added that the message once again urged Moscow to "stop" and "leave," and "then everything will be fine."

The real goals of the US and the collective West, however, have been articulated much more clearly by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Lavrov continued.
"In one of his speeches, he said that Russia must lose, Russia must be defeated, and the West cannot allow Ukraine to lose, because then the West will lose. And the whole world will lose. That is, he took it upon himself to speak not only on behalf of three-dozen NATO members, but also on behalf of all other countries of the world, [including] Asia, Africa, and Latin America."

Johnson lied about Putin missile 'threat' - Kremlin

Allegations that Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with a missile strike are "a lie," Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. Johnson's accusations have emerged in a new BBC documentary about the crisis in Ukraine.

Recalling a telephone call with Putin on February 2, 2022, just over three weeks before tensions over Ukraine escalated into full military action, Johnson claimed the Russian leader "threatened me at one point."

The former PM told the British broadcaster:
"He said, 'Boris, I don't want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute' or something like that... jolly."
Peskov told reporters on Monday:
"There were no missile threats. When he explained challenges to the security of the Russian Federation, President Putin remarked that if Ukraine joins NATO, the potential deployment of NATO or American missiles at our borders would mean that any missile could reach Moscow in mere minutes."
The Russian official wondered if Johnson had lied deliberately or "simply didn't understand what President Putin was talking about." If the latter is true, people should be concerned for Johnson, Peskov added.

Comment: Boris' shenanigans were not without agenda and consequence.

Russian troops have obtained over 20,000 documents pertaining to American biological research programs in Ukraine since the start of Moscow's military operation, the country's Defense Ministry announced on Monday.

The most recent trove brought to light a number of key players in these projects who had previously "remained in the shadows," according to the commander of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.

The ministry had previously published the names of people connected to the biolabs, which included representatives of the US Democratic Party, Defense Department officials, and Pentagon contractors.

American manufacturing is back... to making weapons

Amid soaring inflation and other economic woes, the administration of US President Joe Biden has been obsessed with emphasizing any shred of positivity they can find. That's especially true with that typically American buzzword: jobs.

Last Thursday, the president tweeted a graph showing the the latest four-week average number of joblessness claims vs what it was when he took office. Apparently the number has shrunk more than four-fold. The previous day, Biden quote-tweeted a post by Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, showing job creation for blue collar workers is supposedly attributable to his clean-energy agenda, that "climate action" equals "jobs."

These two examples are fairly innocuous, but then on that same day as the latter tweet, another series of posts followed. One of them said simply, "American manufacturing is back." Another was official confirmation of news that the US is now sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, which he described as "evidence of our enduring and unflagging commitment to Ukraine and our confidence in the skill of Ukrainian forces."

Berlin has abandoned its post-Hitler pacifism, the 'German question' has returned

Scholz

After a period of playing hard to get, the German government has agreed to supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks - its own and those in service with other NATO countries. We will leave it to military experts to assess how this will affect Ukraine's combat capabilities and the course of operations. The question for us is what does it mean in political terms?

Germany and military power - the combination of these terms has made many Europeans uncomfortable for at least a century and a half.

The "German question", which refers to Berlin's place and role on the continent, led to major military clashes on more than one occasion before the two world wars. The Second World War seemed to have resolved it by abolishing the unified German state and placing its regions under external control.

Paper tiger: US general warns British Army no longer top-level fighting force

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace
© Sky NewsUK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace was given a frank assessment of the army by a US general, say sources
Rishi Sunak risks failing in his role as "wartime prime minister" unless he takes urgent action given the growing security threat posed by Vladimir Putin, it has been warned, with calls for a significant hike in spending.

A senior US general has privately told Defence Secretary Ben Wallace the British Army is no longer regarded as a top-level fighting force, defence sources have revealed.

They said this decline in war-fighting capability - following decades of cuts to save money - needed to be reversed faster than planned in the wake of Russia's war in Ukraine.

"Bottom line... it's an entire service unable to protect the UK and our allies for a decade," one of the defence sources said.

Paris has seen its clout in Africa diminish under the French leader, Türkiye's president claimed

Emmanuel Macron is unfit to be French president and has overseen a significant deterioration in relations with Africa, his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suggested. Erdogan claimed that with Macron at the helm, Paris is losing influence globally.

Speaking at a youth gathering in Bilecik province in western Türkiye on Sunday, Erdogan said that "the person at the head of France does not have the experience to be at the head of that state."

The Turkish leader pointed to recent developments in Paris' relations with African nations to support his case. "Look, they are exploiting African countries right now. Mali is in a complete break with France right now," Erdogan argued.

Newsweek lets some truth slip: The battle for Ukraine's titanium

Western support for Ukraine over the past year has tied the U.S. and its European Union-NATO allies inextricably to Kyiv's fate. President Vladimir Putin's second invasion of the country appears to have backfired, driving Ukraine deeper into the arms of the Euro-Atlantic community and cementing Kyiv's ambition for membership of the EU and NATO.

Now, there is a nascent effort underway in the U.S. and allied nations to identify, develop, and utilize Ukraine's vast resources of a key metal crucial for the development of the West's most advanced military technology which will form the backbone of future deterrence against Russia and China.

Titanium is a lightweight yet strong metal used extensively in advanced military applications like fighter jets, helicopters, naval ships, tanks, long-range missiles, and many others.

If Ukraine wins, the U.S. and its allies will be in pole position to cultivate a new conduit of titanium. But if Russia manages to seize the country's deposits and plants, Moscow will boost its global influence over increasingly strategic resource.

A Russian victory in Ukraine won't end the war

PutinTroops

Behind Washington's desperate appeal for tanks and other lethal weaponry for Ukraine, looms the nagging prospect that Russia's winter offensive may have already begun in the south where heavy fighting has broken out along the Line of Contact in the Zaporizhia region. While the information from the front remains sketchy, some analysts think that Russia is planning to send its troops and armored units northward in order to block vital supply-lines and trap Ukrainian forces in the east. A Russian blitz northward would likely be synchronized with the movement of a second large grouping pushing south along the Oskil River. These two dagger-like thrusts would be accompanied by multiple missile strikes aimed at strategic bridges and railway-lines crossing the Dnieper River. If the Russians were able to succeed in such an operation, the bulk of Ukraine's army would be effectively encircled in the east while Moscow would have regained control over most of its traditional territories. The offensive might not end the war, but it would end Ukraine's existence as a viable, contiguous state.

Classified documents are a new potential trap for any politician who crosses The Deep State

Merrick

Procedural complaints about classified documents are quickly turning into a catch-all trap that can depose duly elected officials, especially those tasked with oversight of U.S. intelligence agencies. Last August, an unprecedented classified document complaint provided a pretext for an FBI raid on former President Donald Trump's home, in an eerie echo of the use of police and military resources against opposing politicians typical of banana republics.

That administrative power flex has now been turned into the unprecedented appointment of three special counsels, most recently against the deeply unpopular current Democrat Party figurehead, Joe Biden. This all reverses the American structure of elected officials maintaining oversight of unelected permanent administrators. Instead, we now have unelected bureaucrats performing selective "oversight" of elected officials.

Of course, that pattern erases Americans' deepest political birthright: government of the people, by the people, and for the people. A government not ultimately controlled by elected representatives of the citizenry is not a republic, nor is it any kind of democracy. Without elections truly affecting government policies, the original United States is no more and its elections are a sham.
