Military operatives were part of an operation that targeted politicians and high-profile journalists who raised doubts about the official pandemic response.

A shadowy Army unit secretly spied on British citizens who criticised the Government's Covid lockdown policies, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Military operatives in the UK's 'information warfare' brigade were part of a sinister operation that targeted politicians and high-profile journalists who raised doubts about the official pandemic response.

They compiled dossiers on public figures such as ex-Minister David Davis, who questioned the modelling behind alarming death toll predictions, as well as journalists such as Peter Hitchens and Toby Young. Their dissenting views were then reported back to No 10.

Documents obtained by the civil liberties group Big Brother Watch, and shared exclusively with this newspaper, exposed the work of Government cells such as the Counter Disinformation Unit, based in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and the Rapid Response Unit in the Cabinet Office.

At least 14 people have been killed and 24 injured after Ukrainian missiles struck a hospital in the city of Novoaydar in the early hours of Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The medical facility in the city, which is located dozens of kilometers away from the frontlines in the central part of the Lugansk People's Republic, treated both local residents and soldiers, the ministry noted. It added that both patients and medical personnel were among the victims.

"A deliberate missile strike on a known civilian healthcare facility is an absolutely grave war crime of the Kiev regime," the MOD stated in a Telegram post, vowing to bring all those involved in planning and executing the attack to justice.

Latin America refuses to send Ukraine weapons, despite Western pressure

brazil argentina colombia lula
Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia have refused to send weapons to Ukraine, despite pressure by the US and EU. Latin American left-wing leaders have urged peace with Russia and called for neutrality in the West's new cold war.
Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia have rejected requests by the United States and European Union that they send weapons to Ukraine.

The commander of the US military's Southern Command (Southcom), which operates in Latin America and the Caribbean, revealed on January 19 that Washington has been pressuring countries in the region to arm Ukraine.

Southcom wants Latin American nations to "replace [their] Russian equipment with United States equipment - if those countries want to donate it to Ukraine", said Army General Laura J. Richardson.

But Latin America's left-wing leaders have refused, instead maintaining neutrality and urging peace.

SOTT Focus: NewsReal: So, Are we at War With Russia or Not?

biden stoltenberg nato
The German foreign minister stated this week that "we are at war with Russia." The French foreign ministry immediately corrected her to say, "No, we are not at war with Russia!" Meanwhile Hungarian PM Viktor Orban told the American Conservative magazine, "Yes, we are at war with Russia," and the Russian government clarified that it considers the transfer of heavy weaponry from NATO countries to Ukraine to mean that NATO is now "a party to the conflict."

Well, are 'we' at war with Russia or not?

Also on this NewsReal, Joe and Niall discuss the recent flare-up of terrorism in Israel and western Europe, along with the bizarre triple 'Asian' mass shooting mayhem in southern California.

"Not only is there no threat from Russia that is independent of American policy, but it is also the expansion of NATO to 'meet the threat from Russia' that creates the very threat that expansion was supposed to meet." — Alistair Crooke
I doubt that many Americans — even the masses sunk in vaccine smuggery and obsessive Trump-o-phobia — believe that America's Ukraine project is working out for us. Of course, to even begin thinking about this debacle, you must at least suspect that our government is lying about virtually everything it has its hand in. Name something it is not lying about, I dare you.

So, what is the Ukraine project about? To use that sad-ass country as a vector to disable and destroy Russia. You can't over-state the stupidity of that objective. And why did we want to do that? Because... reasons. Oh? And what were they? Well, Russia was... there. Oh? And what was it doing? Trying to take over the world? Uh, no. It was actually just trying to be a normal European nation again after its traumatic 75-year-long experiment with communism, which ended in 1991.

Truth about tanks: How NATO lied its way to disaster in Ukraine

tank and guys

Tank warfare has evolved. The large force-on-force armored battles that were the hallmark of much of WWII, the Arab-Israeli conflicts, which served as the foundation of operational doctrine for both NATO and the Soviet Union (and which was implemented in full by the United States during Operation Desert Storm in 1991), has run its course.

Like most military technological innovations, the ability to make a modern main battle tank survivable has been outstripped by the fielding of defensive systems designed to overcome such defenses. If a modern military force attempted to launch a large-scale tank-dominated attack against a well-equipped peer-level opponent armed with modern anti-tank missiles, the result would be a decisive defeat for the attacking party marked by the smoking hulks of burned-out tanks.

Don't get me wrong: tanks still have a vital role to play on the modern battlefield. Their status as a mobile bunker is invaluable in the kind of meat-grinder conflicts of attrition that have come to define the current stage of large-scale ground combat. Speed and armor still contribute to survivability, and the main gun of a tank remains one of the deadliest weapons on the modern battlefield.

But the modern tank performs best as part of a combined arms team, supported by infantry (mounted and unmounted) and copious amounts of supporting arms (artillery and close air support.) As part of such a team, especially one that is well-trained in the art of close combat, the tank remains an essential weapon of war. However, if operated in isolation, a tank is simply an expensive mobile coffin.

Treasury withholds Biden family suspicious bank records, James Comer threatens subpoena

The Treasury Department on Wednesday denied the House Oversight Committee's request to disclose 150 suspicious reports flagged by U.S. banks concerning Biden family business transactions, causing the committee's chairman to threaten a subpoena.

James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight Committee chair, told Breitbart News the wire transfers included "large" amounts of money tripped for further review by American banks.

Wire transfers are widely used by money launderers. To mitigate the risks to the financial institutions, suspicious wire transfers over $10,000 are flagged for review. Wire transactions involving more than $10,000 are also to be reported to the Internal Revenue Service.

Comer demanded the Treasury on January 11 to turn over the suspicious bank records. But the Treasury denied Comer's request, citing "improper disclosure" of relevant information that could reduce the Biden administration's ability to "conduct of law enforcement, intelligence, and national security activities."

Comment: As long as 'Biden and Son' remain totally corrupt, they are untouchable.

New RAND study breaks from US hawks, warns against "protracted conflict" in Ukraine

War gaming, US Marine Corps, RAND Corporation

The famous Pentagon and US government-linked think tank RAND Corporation has finally attempted to inject some rare realism into the Washington establishment's thinking and planning regarding the Ukraine war. So far throughout eleven months of conflict which remains largely stalemated, though the last few days have seen Russian military momentum and advance grow in the Bakhmut offensive, US and NATO officials have unhesitatingly and enthusiastically cheered on every major escalation of the West's involvement.

But the new 32-page RAND document has sounded the alarm over the dangers of this approach, which is unusual given the think tank is notorious for being the hawkish academic arm of the military-industrial complex. This was especially the case in the Vietnam war era, when RAND became infamous for its fueling the policy behind various insurgency and counterinsurgency fiascos in Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

RAND now argues that in Ukraine "US interests would be best served by avoiding a protracted conflict," and that "costs and risks of a long war...outweigh the possible benefits."

The New York Times is Orwell's Ministry of Truth

"Ingsoc. The sacred principles of ingsoc. Newspeak, double-speak, the mutability of the past." - George Orwell, 1984
As today dawned, I was looking out the window into the cold grayness with small patches of snow littering the frozen ground. As light snow began to fall, I felt a deep mourning in my soul as a memory came to me of another snowy day in 1972 when I awoke to news of Richard Nixon's savage Christmas bombing of North Vietnam with more than a hundred B-52 bombers, in wave after wave, dropping death and destruction on Hanoi and other parts of North Vietnam.

I thought of the war the United States is now waging against Russia via Ukraine and how, as during the U.S. war against Vietnam, few Americans seem to care until it becomes too late. It depressed me.

Soon after I was greeted by an editorial from The New York Times' Editorial Board, "A Brutal New Phase of the War in Ukraine." It is a piece of propaganda so obvious that only those desperate to believe blatant lies would not fall down laughing. Yet it is no laughing matter, for The N.Y. Times is advocating for a wider war, more lethal weapons for Ukraine, and escalation of the fighting that risks nuclear war. So their title is apt because they are promoting the brutality. This angered me.

The Times' Editorial Board tells us that President Putin, like Hitler, is mad. "Like the last European war, this one is mostly one man's madness." Russia and Putin are "cruel"; are conducting a "regular horror" with missile strikes against civilian targets; are "desperate"; are pursuing Putin's "delusions"; are waging a "terrible and useless war"; are "committing atrocities"; are responsible for "murder, rape and pillaging," etc.

SOTT Focus: Viktor Orban: West is 'in a War With Russia'

viktor orban
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban (R)
Notes from a candid session with the antiwar Hungarian prime minister, who warns this conflict could easily get much worse

It happened again. This evening was the third time I've been in a small group session with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. I told the visiting journalists and publishers that they were going to be blown away by this guy, because they're not going to believe how different he is from the way he is portrayed in the Western media. He's sharp, funny, brilliant, and completely confident. He's not hovered over by press aides, and he doesn't guard his words to the point where he says nothing but mush. He's really interesting. As I told the folks I talked to before hand, at the conference, who were invited to meet later with the PM, "You're not going to believe that a world leader is actually like this."

As usual, after the event, there were stunned. Orban spent two hours with us, answering every question -- even particularly tough ones from a Polish journalist -- and was clearly loving it. I was never around Bill Clinton personally, but the things I read about how he was a natural politician -- it's at least as true of Viktor Orban. Last year, I was talking to a Fidesz politician about the PM, and he said there's not another politician in this country who can go from strategizing at the top level, to talking to country people at a farmer's market, and be utterly genuine in both places. I believe it. If he were on TV more in the United States, the view people have of Hungary would be totally different.

Comment: Rod Dreher is blown away by a two-hour candid interview. He should head further east and check out the 6-hour marathons with Putin!
