The late May snowstorm that dumped as much as 30 inches of snow in the high country of the Arkansas River watershed basin last weekend brought welcome moisture to the region, but drought conditions are expected to persist.

On Monday, the basin's snowpack reading came in at just 66% of normal. Although below average, that reading was more than double last week's figure, according to Natural Resource Conservation Service data compiled by the Arkansas River Watershed Collaborative.

Three-day snowfall amounts from last weekend's storm totaled 30 inches in Buena Vista, nearly 25 inches in the Twin Lakes and Leadville areas, 20.8 inches in Salida, 17 inches in Canon City and 10.7 inches in Westcliffe, according to the National Weather Service.

Best of the Web: Ukraine: How and why the war was manufactured

Russia nato
Without worrying about the terrible human costs of the war, which the Western powers now denounce with crocodile tears, they closed all options to Russia.
Before being elected President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first Commander of NATO. In February 1951, a few months after taking office, he wrote the following, "If in 10 years all the American troops stationed in Europe for the purpose of ensuring national defense have not returned to the United States, then this project, NATO, will have failed." The troops did not return, actually, their presence in Europe did not cease to increase. Not only that, but once the Soviet Union disintegrated and contrary to the solemn and hollow promises of the main leaders of Western governments (Clinton, Bush, Obama, Helmut Kohl in Germany, Tony Blair in the United Kingdom... etc.) in the sense that "NATO would not move an inch to the East," as a matter of fact, this criminal organization transferred supplies and troops to the very borders of Russia. How come! Weren't the enemies of the West the Soviet Union and communism? No. The enemy was, and still is, Russia, an overly large and powerful country whose mere presence, whether under a communist or capitalist regime, is an obstacle to the United States' goal of world domination, as Noam Chomsky repeatedly observed.

Deadly shooting at Texas elementary school
An 18-year-old man shot his own grandmother before storming into a West Texas elementary school and opening fire Tuesday morning, just two days shy of the end of the school year. During the rampage, 14 students and one teacher were killed, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said.

Comment: The death toll has since climbed to 19 children and two adults. Elementary school pupils, by the way, are between the ages of 5 and 11.

Abbott has identified the gunman as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, who was shot and killed by law enforcement. Two officers were also struck by gunfire, but they were not seriously injured.

According to authorities, Ramos, who was armed with a handgun and possibly a rifle, shot his grandmother before entering Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas around 12 p.m.

The school, which is about 85 miles west of San Antonio, has an enrollment of just under 600 students. Terrified children, ranging from second to fourth graders, were reportedly trying to climb out of windows to escape the building.

A tornado, hailstones the size of tennis balls, and roads looking more like rivers are among the phenomena seen this weekend, as thunderstorm alerts remain in place

A mini-tornado, rain, and giant hailstones have wreaked havoc across France this weekend, with a church spire destroyed in Indre-et-Loire, cars smashed in Doubs, and flooding in Essonne and Reims.

The church in the Indre-et-Loire village of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil was damaged by a tornado, with strong gusts of wind toppling the spire. The falling stonework damaged cars underneath.

The commune's salle des fêtes was also damaged, as were surrounding vines in the village's wine-growing areas. No human injuries have been reported.

Comment: For context, these are probably among the largest hailstones recorded in France in the modern era.

Late spring Colorado snowstorm knocks out power for 210,000

A late spring Colorado snowstorm dumped several inches in the Denver metro area Saturday and knocked out electricity for about 210,000 customers, officials said.

The wet snow weighed down tree branches and sent them toppling onto power lines, the KUSA television station reported. Much more snow fell in mountainous regions of Colorado.

By Saturday night, power had been restored to 160,000 customers but about 50,000 still did not have it back, the Xcel Energy Colorado utility said in a statement.

The small Colorado community of Cripple Creek near the base of Pike's Peak got 20 inches (51 centimeters) of snow, KUSA reported.

Military police say they are satisfied with assurances of Israeli troops over death of US-Palestinian despite international demands

Israel will not launch a criminal investigation into the killing of the US-Palestinian journalist , which Palestinian officials and witnesses have blamed on Israeli soldiers.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces claimed that because Abu Aqleh was killed in an "active combat situation", an immediate criminal investigation would not be launched, although an "operational inquiry" would continue.

According to a report in the Haaretz newspaper, the Israeli military police branch has accepted the assurances of Israeli troops that they were not aware she was in a village adjacent to the Jenin refugee camp when she was killed on 11 May.

The Biden administration and the UN security council have called for a transparent investigation.

Comment: Not content to just murder her, Israeli police raided Shireen Abu Aqleh's house just hours after her death.

Best of the Web: New controlled food system is now in place and they will stop at nothing to accelerate their control

vertical farming

Comment: The following is easily one of the most comprehensive assessments we've seen of the global elite's takeover of the West's food systems....

"Who controls the food supply controls the people; who controls the energy can control whole continents; who controls money can control the world." This famous quote by Henry Kissinger is ringing more and more true by the week. The globalists already control the majority of the money, are moving ever so swiftly to convert the energy system over into systems they are all invested in, and have been taking drastic measures to control the food industry while running much of it under the radar. If they control the seeds they control the food, and if they control the food they can use the digital ID to control consumer access to the food. While a rash of fires suddenly destroy food processing, meat, and fertilizer plants, during a time where farmers are hurting and supply chain issues are kicking in, an entire traceable food infrastructure system has already been built in multiple cities and is making its way across the globe.

Imagine a day where farmers markets no longer exist, you can't drive over to your local farmer to buy produce or cuts of meat, and the only food growing outside of the globalists secured indoor vertical farming and lab grown meat facilities, is in your windowsill, garden, or greenhouse.

- The indoor vertical farming industry was valued at $5.5 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $19.86 billion by 2026. Urban indoor farming controlled by the globalists is the future of food they have reimagined, and it's already in thousands of grocery stores without people realizing it. Whereas the U.S. is leading in this industry, this is a global agenda with vertical farms popping up across the globe.

Best of the Web: 'Russia Started the War' and Other Fallacies

graffiti
On Monday, Putin delivered the annual "Victory Day" speech celebrating Russia's victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. The Russian president made none of the hyperbolic pronouncements the media had predicted but, instead, gave a brief recap of the events leading up to the war in Ukraine. There was none of the bravado you'd expect from a leader trying to gin up support for the ongoing war. Putin simply reminded the crowd that he had done everything he could to avoid the bloody conflict in which Russia is currently embroiled. Here's part of what he said:
"Last December we proposed signing a treaty on security guarantees. Russia urged the West to hold an honest dialogue in search for meaningful and compromising solutions, and to take account of each other's interests. All in vain. NATO countries did not want to heed us, which means they had totally different plans. And we saw it."
This is an accurate account of what took place in the months preceding the war. Putin tried to avoid a confrontation by repeatedly asking the US to address Russia's reasonable security concerns. Unfortunately, the Biden administration brushed off Putin's demands without even providing a response. The US and NATO insist that Ukraine has every right to choose whatever security arrangement it wants. But that's clearly not the case. The United States and every nation in NATO have signed treaties (Istanbul in 1999, and Astana in 2010) that stipulate they cannot improve their own security at the expense of others.
