A storm ravaging the northwestern district of Mexico sparked an impressive tornado in the city of San Pedro.

Footage shared online from the National Weather Commission (Conagua) shows the tornado forming close to a trafficked street of the Sinaloa town.

Onlookers can be seen curiously watching the funnel of swirling air sucking up more warm air from the ground to strengthen its walls.

Local authorities said the tornado began to form at around 7pm on Thursday before disappearing into thin air less than five minutes latest without causing any damage.

'Medicane', a rare, hurricane-like storm, rolls across southern Europe

Medicane
Rare cyclone called 'Medicane' which is currently careering across the Mediterranean and set to batter Greece and Turkey this weekend
Emergency services in Italy and Greece were on high alert on Friday bracing for a powerful cyclone that was expected to bring gale-force winds and torrential rain to the eastern Mediterranean this weekend.

Greece was already feeling the impact of thunderstorms and high winds ahead of a small but intense cyclone known as a "Medicane" which is rarely seen in the Mediterranean.

Meteorologists said the weather system was expected to strike the southern coasts of Sicily and Calabria before moving eastward across the Aegean and Ionian Seas to Greece where it could bring winds of up to 160 kmh (100 mph) and waves as high as 12 metres (39 feet).

Schools in Athens and several other parts of the country were closed Friday, as heavy storms swept across the mainland and islands on Thursday.

Some ferry services from ports near the Greek capital resumed after being mostly halted for the previous two days, while the poor weather conditions also caused flight delays.

Comment: The Medicane has been building since September 20th: Medicane expected to fully form east of Sardinia over next 24 hours

Young man dies of hypothermia after early blizzard in Romania's mountains

snow
A 22-year old hiker died at the hospital in Sibiu after a blizzard caught him on a ridge at over 2000 meters in the Fagaras mountains.

The mountain rescuers brought him and the girl who was with him down from the mountain, but the doctors couldn't save him, local Digi24 reported. He suffered from extreme hypothermia and was in critical condition. The girl who was with him was also admitted in the hospital with hypothermia and frostbites.

The mountain rescuers said the hikers had mountain equipment suitable for this period of the year but that the weather conditions were extreme and only winter equipment could have saved the young climber.

The weather in Romania got very cold at the beginning of this week and it even snowed at over 2000 meters. The famous high-altitude roads Transalpina and Transfagarasan were covered in snow and the mountain rescuers were called to help some tourists who were blocked by snow on Transalpina and had to sleep in their cars.

Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Snow records in France fall from data tampering

Somehow over 140 cm or 4.2 feet of snow disappeared from the climate records in Chamonix, France as it was too inconvenient for snow to more than double since 2011 in the area with Global Warming predictions that there would be less snow and that Atlantic water temperatures modulate Europe's temperatures. Atlantic cold, Grand Solar Minimum colder, more snow is what the climate data erasure is trying to hide.

Liua is South Pacific's first cyclone in September for 70 years

Tropical Cyclone Liua
Himawari-8 visible true colour image of Tropical Cyclone Liua on Thursday morning, local time.
Cyclone Liua is the first cyclone to form in the south-west Pacific in the month of September for nearly 70 years.

Liua is over the Solomons' Makira Island and is forecast to develop into a category two on the scale of one to five.

Its winds are weak, but forecasters are concerned about its slow pace and heavy rains.

The official cyclone season runs from 1 November to the end of April.

Chris Brandolino of the New Zealand climate and weather office, NIWA, said Liua comes even before forecasters have put together their cyclone outlook for the region.

"It is very unusual, in fact this is the first tropical cyclone to form in the month of September going back to 1950. It is certainly unusual."

More twisters confirmed to have hit western Quebec on Friday

Environment Canada has confirmed that three additional tornadoes touched down in western Quebec on Friday - bringing the day's total number of twisters in the Ottawa-Gatineau area to six.

At around 3:30 p.m. ET, a tornado touched down about 30 kilometres from Mont-Laurier, Que., near the Baskatong reservoir, the weather agency said Tuesday.

It likely travelled about 10 kilometres through the wooded area, snapping trees and downing power poles as it went, Environment Canada said.

About 90 minutes later, another touched down near the Val-des-Bois, Que, area, about 90 kilometres north of Ottawa.

That twister travelled east-northeast for about 13 kilometres, damaging buildings and snapping trees before dissipating near the town.

Satellite images also allowed the agency to confirm a third tornado touched down roughly 25 kilometres north of Otter Lake that day and cut a three-kilometre swath through the forested area.

All three twisters were likely EF-1 tornadoes, Environment Canada said, meaning they had wind speeds between 135 and 175 km/h.

Officials continue to survey the damage to determine the exact tracks of these twisters. Tornadoes of this strength are rare in Canada, especially in September, the Weather Network reports.

According to David Sills, a severe weather scientist with Environment Canada, the Ottawa-area tornado is only the second EF-3 or higher recorded in Canada in September or later. The other occurred in 1898 in the Niagara region. The 2011 Goderich EF-3 tornado was the last recorded in Ontario.

As Hurricane Florence flooding recedes, dead fish cover eastern North Carolina highways

US fire crews dealing with the clean-up operation after hurricane floodwaters receded made an unexpected discovery: dead fish spread across the highway.

The flooding from the deadly hurricane pushed the fish from their natural habitat and scattered them along an interstate highway, the Penderlea Fire Department posted on Facebook on Saturday.

"Well, we can add 'washing fish off of the interstate' to the long list of interesting things firefighters get to experience!" it said.
