Flooding has affected over 35,000 people in Samarinda City in East Kalimantan Province in Indonesia, according to local disaster authorities.

According to the country's disaster management agency BNPB (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana) flooding began around several days ago and has affected a total of 11,652 families or 35,684 people.

Samarinda City is situated on the Mahakam river in the east of the island of Borneo. The river overflowed after heavy rain on 09 June. Over 600 houses have been flooded. BNPB said that flood water was 1.25 metres deep in some areas.

Yemen Meteorological Services reported that Aden saw 77mm of rain on 08 June, with most of that total falling in a 3 hour period. Satellite images showed rainfall rates of up to 35mm per hour at 14:00 UTC on 08 June in southern and western areas of the country. Further severe weather warnings have been issued.

Houses and roads in Aden were submerged. In rural areas, runoff swept down hillsides, turning wadis into raging rivers and swamping crops and roads.

Six vehicles parked on a school playground were swept away by the flash floods after a powerful rainstorm in central China.

The video, filmed in Shiyan City in Hubei Province on June 5, shows floodwater rushing through the playground and washing the parked cars away.

Flash floods and storms reportedly kill 31 people in Iran - 25 by lightning strikes

At least 31 people have reportedly died in heavy storms and flash floods throughout Iran since Wednesday, while 71 more were injured, officials announced on Sunday.

At least six people died in the floods while 25 more were killed by lightning according to Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iran Emergency Medical Service, as cited in reports.

Floods in three provinces in Sulawesi have forced thousands of people to flee their houses for higher ground.

Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesperson of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) revealed that 4,198 people in North Konawe regency in Southeast Sulawesi had been evacuated to safer areas.

"Asera district is the worst effected, with 13 of its villages inundated. Seventy two houses have been washed away, while thousands of other houses are inundated and hundreds of hectares of rice fields, corn fields and fish ponds have been damaged,"
Sutopo said in a press release made available to The Jakarta Post Monday.

Heavy rain has caused flooding and landslides in parts of Tajikistan and neighbouring Afghanistan.

Heavy rain from around 04 June to 07 June, 2019, caused mudslides and flooding in two regions of Tajikistan.

Two people died and one building was destroyed after a mudslide in Panjakent district in Sughd province.

Also in Sughd, flooding also damaged about 11 homes in the city of Konibodom.

Dozens of people were evacuated after about 80 homes were flooded in the village of Obi Shifo in Rudaki district on 05 June.
