Heavy rains cause severe flooding in Caracas and Miranda, Venezuela

Users on Twitter reported flooding in several areas of Carcas and Miranda after heavy rains on Thursday.

Through images and videos, users showed the damage caused by rainfall in the Venezuelan capital, with Macarao being the most affected parish.

River overflows and streams were also reported, as well as obstructions in important arteries of the city.

Earlier, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), reported in its forecast for this Thursday, that the rains could cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, as well as possible landslides.

Until now, official information on damage caused by the rains is unknown, however in the Macarao parish, they have reported the collapse of the streets, as a result of the waters that have covered several vehicles.

Civil Defence in Colombia recently reported that over 20,000 people have been affected by heavy rain, floods and landslides across the country over the last 2 weeks. Almost 2,800 homes have been damaged and over 200 destroyed. At least 1 fatality was reported in Meta Department and one person reported missing in Antioquia.

Putumayo

Among the hardest hit areas is the department of Putumayo, where flooding affected the municipalities of Orito, Puerto Asís, Puerto Guzmán, Puerto Caicedo and San Miguel from 13 to 15 June 2021. A total of 10,000 people were affected, including 7,890 in Puerto Asís, where 230 homes were destroyed and 1,770 damaged.

Authorities in Romania report that floods, heavy rain and strong winds have affected wide areas of the country since 18 June 2021. As of 23 June as many as 16 counties were affected.

Firefighters were called on to remove flood water from houses, yards and streets or responded to incidents of wind damage including downed trees and power lines.

In a tragic incident in Bacău County, a car participating in an off-road competition was dragged by waters of the swollen Oituz river in Poiana Sărată. The driver of the car died in the incident, while the passenger managed to escape the vehicle.


Firefighters carried out searches for a man reported missing in flood water on 18 June in Mănăstirea Cașin, Bacău county. Seven people were pre-emptively evacuated due to flooding in the same area.

The heavy rains in the Valley of Mexico have affected, mainly in the State of Mexico, where there are floods in at least three municipalities: Atizapán, Ecatepec and Tlalnepantla.

Mexican Civil Protection authorities called for extreme precautions in the face of road damage, after citizens published videos showing several cars under water.

Citizens who were trapped in cars or workplaces assured that the water level reached up to 50 centimeters.

Three killed, three others injured by landslide triggered by incessant rain in Nepal

Three persons were killed while three others sustained injuries after a landslide triggered by incessant rain fell over their house in Rolpa Municipality-9 in Rolpa District.

The deceased have been identified as Pratima Budha (46), Sushila Budha (18), and Shyamkala Budha (16), informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Naresh Raj Subedi, at District Police Office, Rolpa.

A team of police personnel under command of DSP Subedi had reached the site following the incident. According to police, the trio was sleeping inside their house when the debris from the landslide fell over, burying them under.

Tikasingh Budha (40), Sunmaya Budha (45) and nine-year-old Shaktiman Budha, who were also sleeping in the same house managed to save themselves, added DSP Subedi.Among them, Sunmaya and Shaktiman sustained minor injuries, Subedi said.

Storms trigger flash-floods in Poland, Czechia, Germany and Italy - 2.3 inches of rain in just an hour

A series of storms brought flash flooding to parts of Poland, Czechia, Germany and Italy from 20 to 22 June 2021. The city of Poznan in western Poland was among the hardest hit areas, where buildings including a hospital were damaged.

Previously storms in northern and eastern France caused flash flooding in Marne, Somme and Oise departments, where one person was reported missing in the city of Beauvais.

On 22 June stormy weather affected several areas of Poland, including the cities of Warsaw, Krakow and Poznan.

The State Fire Service carried out 1,685 interventions in response to storm damage in Wielkopolska (545), Małopolska (366), Mazovia (291), Kuyavian-Pomeranian (150) and Lodzkie (115). No injuries or casualties were reported.

Government Security Center said storms left 23,134 people were without without electricity mostly in the following Mazowieckie.

At least 18 dead, 21 missing after floods and landslides in 26 districts of Nepal (UPDATE)

Five fatalities have been confirmed, with a further 19 people reported missing after heavy monsoon rainfall in Nepal triggered floods and landslides.

Disaster authorities in Nepal have reported over 70 incidents of rain damage, flooding and landslides since 15 June 2021. As many as 26 of Nepal's 77 districts have been affected.

Ten people died in recent flash flooding in a remote highland areas of nearby country Bhutan on 16 June 2021.

As of early 17 June, 5 people have died, 19 were reported missing and 14 people were injured as a result of floods, landslides and heavy rainfall in Nepal. As many as 50 houses have been completely destroyed and dozens of others damaged.

The worst of the flooding struck in Helambu, Sindhupalchowk District, where 2 people have died, 6 injured and 15 reported as still missing. Flooding struck on 15 June 2021. Damage assessments are ongoing.

Landslides and floods kill 18 in Nepal

At least 18 people have been killed due to landslides and floods triggered by heavy rain across Nepal last week, while 21 others went missing, police said on Sunday.

Torrential rains battered Nepal last week, causing widespread flood and damage to critical infrastructure. Officials said the excess rains had led to the rivers overflowing, which resulted in the widespread destruction.

Rescue and relief operations were being carried out by Nepal Police, the Army, and the Armed Police Force.

At least 18 people, including four women and three children, have been killed across Nepal last week, according to Nepal Police headquarters sources.


Four people were killed in landslides and flood in Sindhupal chowk district, 30-km east of Kathmandu, three killed in Doti and one each in Saptari, Kavre, Gorkha, Kaski, Arghakhachi, Palpa, Pyuthan, Jumla, Kalikot, Bajhang and Bajura districts, they said.

Twenty people went missing in Melamchi area of Sindhupalchowk district and one went missing from Bajura, police said.

Meanwhile, the Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchowk has been closed since Saturday, as roads in Larcha and Kodari Bazaar areas were damaged by the flooded Bhotekoshi river.

The dam of an under-construction bridge in Kanchanpur has been washed away by a flooded Mahakali river on Saturday night. A section of the motorable bridge over the river at Odali, Bhimdutta municipality-12 of the district was destroyed, said District Police Office spokesperson Amar Bahadur Thapa.

The floods have caused billions worth loss of properties in the country.
