At least 10 killed after massive flash floods hit Majorca, Spain, with 9 inches of rain in 2 hours - UPDATE

Majorca flash floods
Five people have been confirmed dead and five more are missing after torrential rains turned roads into rivers and swept cars away around Sant LLorenc des Cardassar
Two of the five people confirmed as dead in the Majorca floods are believed to be British.

They have been described as a couple who were caught in a flash flood in the town of Sant LLorenc des Cardassar as they were travelling in a taxi.

The taxi driver is also said to be missing. It was not immediately clear if they were tourists or expats.

Locals sought refuge on their roofs as a torrent of water invaded the ground floor of their homes, sweeping cars out to sea.

The first two victims were aged 71 and 83. One was trapped by a torrent of water that flooded the basement of his home and another was found by a road linking the town of Arta to the coastal resort of Canyamel.

An emergency services coordinator tweeted just after midnight: 'It has been confirmed that a third person has died' before adding around 6am: 'Rescuer teams have informed us of a fourth fatality in the floods on the east of Majorca.

UPDATE: El Pais reports:
At least 10 people, including a British couple, have died in Mallorca, in Spain's Balearic Islands, after the island was hit by flash flooding on Tuesday night. A child is the only person currently unaccounted for, down from the six people who had been reported missing this morning.

It is one of the most serious floods to hit Spain in the past 25 years. Three deaths occurred in S'Illot, one in Artà and four took place in Sant Lorenç des Cardassar, a neighborhood 60 kilometers from the island capital Palma de Mallorca, according to emergency services.

More than 230 millimeters of rain fell on the area in just two hours. According to a preliminary report by Spain's AEMET national weather service, "the probability of 233 millimeters of rain falling in Colònia de Sant Pere [close to Sant Lorenç] in Mallorca, which was recorded yesterday, is one in a thousand years."

The heavy rainfall flooded the Ses Planes brook, which is typically dry, with water gushing through the historical center, dragging cars, flooding houses and leaving hundreds of residents trapped in their homes. Many waited to be rescued on balconies and the rooftops of their houses. Three people were injured and another 200 people were forced to flee their homes.

Ice Age Farmer Report: IPCC: Global catastrophe near - Trump in crosshairs - Social programming at MAX

die someday
The IPCC's new rhetoric ("report") is being reported heavily (and emotionally) by the media. Safe spaces and meetings NOW are being held at universities and organizations to "discuss"--and cry about--the IPCC's new report.

Trump is the target of their hatred.

Christian explores this emotionally-laden, trauma-based mind control, drops some climate red pills, and breaks it all down today on the Ice Age Farmer.

Tropical Storm Michael has rained on Honduras for days, killing at least 6 and forcing over 3,200 to evacuate their homes. Several departments are on red alert.

Honduras continues to get hard hit by two low-pressure systems - one from the Caribbean and the other from the Pacific - creating torrential downpours and mudslides that have killed at least six people since Thursday and left another missing, according to local media.

The heaviest rains are falling mainly around the capital of Tegucigalpa and two departments that border the Pacific coast, areas that President Juan Orlando Hernandez placed on red alert on Oct. 6. The rest of the country remains under green alert.

Over 7,000 people have been negatively affected so far by the rains and mudslides that the Permanent Risk Commission of Honduras (Copeco) reports are the result of Tropical Storm Michael. Accuweather reports that the tropical storm is quickly turning into a hurricane and is predicted to affect Cuba and Jamaica before heading up the Atlantic coast of the United States this week.

Early season storm dumps 2 feet of snow at Brian Head Resort, Utah

Brian Head Resort
Brian Head Resort on October 7th.
It's been dumping since Saturday at Brian Head Resort and Mike Saemisch (AKA @LifeOfBrianHead) indicated this morning that there's a settled base of 20″.

The snow is massive, especially considering how early it is in the season for the southern Utah ski destination.

There's even been a local or two who've grabbed their first powder turns of the season!

Utah residents are hoping this is a sign of the El Nino to come after a lackluster winter delivered one of the weakest snowpacks in the state's 100 year weather history.

Indonesia earthquake death toll could reach 5,000 as officials count missing

The official death toll is 1,944 but this number could triple as authorities lose hope of finding survivors

About 5,000 people are still missing, feared death, after an earthquake and tsunami hit Sulawesi just over a week ago.

The official death toll stands at 1,944 but officials believe that when casualties from two of the hardest-hit areas of Palu - Balaroa and Petobo - are determined, that number could almost triple.

Those searching the ruins of the villages fear that thousands may have been swallowed up by the ground when the earthquake caused liquefaction, causing the solid surface of the ground to turn to liquid, engulfing homes in the mud.

"Based on reports from the heads of Balaroa and Petobo, there are about 5,000 people who have not been found," said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for Indonesia's disaster agency.

"Nevertheless, officials there are still trying to confirm this and are gathering data. It is not easy to obtain the exact number of those trapped by landslides, or liquefaction, or mud."

Hopes of finding survivors ten days after the double disaster struck the Indonesian island have all but faded, but Thursday will be the official deadline for recovering bodies. After that people will be deemed missing, presumed dead.
