Disney's wild ride: DeSantis-appointed board set to declare Disney's unchecked authority null and void

This weekend, I contributed to an article for the New York Post with an exclusive on a move by the new board governing Disney properties to declare the recent transfers of power to the company to be null and void. Below is my column on the legal implications of that move and how Disney may be set for a truly wild ride in the weeks ahead.

Here is the column:

Walt Disney used to say, "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."

Gov. Ron DeSantis is about to put Disney's own motto to the test — against Disney.

According to a high-ranking Florida official, the newly created Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is set early this week to call Disney on one of the worst bluffs of all time. The result could prove the House of Mouse made a costly miscalculation.

EU warns against unilateral steps after Poland, Hungary ban grain from Ukraine

Unilateral action on trade by European Union member states is unacceptable, a European Commission spokesman said on Sunday, after Poland and Hungary announced bans on grain and other food imports from Ukraine to protect the local agricultural sector.

After Russia's invasion blocked some Black Sea ports, large quantities of Ukrainian grain, which is cheaper than that produced in the EU, ended up staying in Central European states due to logistical bottlenecks, hitting prices and sales for local farmers. The issue has created a political problem for Poland's ruling nationalist Law and Justice party in an election year, as it has angered people in rural areas where support for the party is usually high.

A spokesman, in an e-mailed statement said:
"We are aware of Poland and Hungary's announcements regarding the ban on imports of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine. In this context, it is important to underline that trade policy is of EU exclusive competence and, therefore, unilateral actions are not acceptable. In such challenging times, it is crucial to coordinate and align all decisions within the EU."
Polish government spokesman Piotr Muller told state-run news agency PAP the government was in constant contact with the European Commission about the issue, and that the ban was possible due to a security clause.

Transgender basketballer Lexi Rodgers has lashed Basketball Australia for its decision to block her application to join the Kilsyth Cobras women's side in the WNBL1 South basketball league.

The decision came after a three-person panel assembled by Basketball Australia concluded that Rodgers was ineligible to play elite-level basketball.

However Rodgers has slammed the decision and vowed to continue to fight to pursue her basketball career.

'I sought a different outcome from Basketball Australia. I participated fully and in good faith with the process and eligibility criteria. Consistent with the views expressed by so many, I firmly believe I have a place as an athlete in women's basketball,' she wrote on Instagram.

A heckler called out Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California for talking about former President Donald Trump at a Monday hearing on crime in New York City.

"You're the only one talking about Donald Trump," a protester said, cutting off Schiff as he claimed the House Judiciary Committee's Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of Government hearing was more about defending Donald Trump, then labeling the Congressman a "scumbag."

"This is not a coincidence at all," Schiff said. "Instead, it is the GOP leadership in Congress doing what it has done best for the last six years, and that is to act as the criminal defense counsel for Donald J. Trump."

Maricopa Co. pays Gateway Pundit $175,000 for denial of press access to election coverage

Jordan Conrandson Ben Bergquam
Corrupt Maricopa County blocked a Gateway Pundit writer from attending on-site election news conferences, a federal appeals court said on Tuesday, giving a victory to independent media. Hopefully, this will set a precedent for other reporters who want to serve the public with real news.

During their coverage of the 2022 midterm elections, which was highly suspicious, Jordan Conrandson of Gateway Pundit and also Ben Bergquam of Real America's Voice and Frontline America were both harassed and removed from covering official AZ government press conferences as ballots were being transported and counted and reported upon.

Bergquam reported on his Twitter that he had received an official letter from the board of supervisors telling him that he was, like Conradson, not approved to cover the aftermath of the election.

Best of the Web: An Honest Doctor's Experiences on the Front Lines During COVID-19

First do no harm
First do no harm
This is an important testimony to add to the historical record.

When I originally made this Substack, I found myself in a very frustrating position — I had something I felt was essential for the world to know (that we were repeating the disastrous smallpox vaccination campaign, its cruel mandates, and the widespread counterprotests against them by the working class). Still, I had no way to get the message out. I tried to find a way to do so for a while, and eventually, Steve Kirsch generously gave me a platform to do so.

Because of this, I have a considerable degree of empathy with people who find themselves in a similar position to mine. Thus one of my goals in building the subscriber base here has been to make that platform available to those in a similar situation to me, and I periodically publish compelling things readers share with me I believe are accurate (e.g., this citizen's survey of blood clots amongst the vaccinated).

Recently a longtime reader contacted me to share his story. Based on my previous correspondences with him over the last year, I believe he has accurately represented himself here. I also want to note that his story shares many parallels to the treatment of other doctors attempting to do the right thing throughout COVID-19 (e.g., Paul Marik's experience).

The Post Millennial has now obtained and is reviewing radical curricula used in public schools around the US after a Washington State Superior Court judge rejected a restraining order aimed at blocking the release of the material.

In January, Ari Hoffman, The Post Millennial's West Coast editor, filed a public disclosure request (PDR) to view all curricula developed by Washington Ethnic Studies Now (WAESN) that was in use in Washington state public schools. Hoffman filed the request after it was revealed that the founder of the organization Tracy Castro Gill claimed that white, Jewish people benefit from systems of oppression that disenfranchise people of color.

After the PDR was filed, Castro Gill was informed on January 4 by Matt Schultz, Chief Legal and Civil Rights officer for Washington's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) that the request had been made as per an agreement already in place when the agency began working with Castro Gill's organization and offered to provide a "representative sample to review" of the material "before determining whether to seek a protective order."

Despite the prevalence of CCTV and security guards, more than 6,500 rapes and sexual assaults - some against children under 13 - have been committed in hospitals in England and Wales since 2019, according to a report by the Women's Rights Network (WRN) published on Monday.

A least 2,088 rapes and 4,451 sexual assaults in hospitals were recorded by police forces in the UK between January 2019 and October 2022, the organization said, citing Freedom of Information requests to 43 police forces. One in seven of these attacks took place inside hospital wards, the report stated.

Among the crimes reported were the rape of a female child under 13 and the gang rape of a female over 16 in two West Midlands hospitals. Three rapes of a female under 16 were reported in Cambridgeshire, while six girls under the age of 13 were raped in Lancashire, the report alleges.

Russian school shooter gets life in prison

Ilnaz Galyaviev

The Supreme Court of Russia's Tatarstan Region has delivered a verdict in the case of a school shooter who killed nine people and injured dozens two years ago. Ilnaz Galyaviev will spend the rest of his life in prison.

On Thursday, the 21-year-old was found guilty of murder and attempted murder of two or more people, as well as possession of explosives and deliberate destruction of property.

The shooter's defense attorney had asked the court to exempt Galyaviev from criminal liability and send him to a psychiatric institution instead. The judge, however, sided with the public prosecutor.

Back in November, the shooter pleaded guilty to the murder charges.

On May 11, 2021, Galyaviev, armed with a shotgun and an improvised explosive device, forced his way into a school, severely wounding a guard at the entrance. The young man then proceeded to fatally shoot a teacher.

He subsequently killed seven eighth-graders, with several children managing to flee by jumping out of windows from the third floor.
