Hundreds of protesters entered the Euronext stock exchange in Paris on Thursday, burning flares and chanting anti-government slogans. The brief occupation of the building is the latest in a series of continuous demonstrations since President Emamnuel Macron hiked the retirement age.

Waving trade union flags, roughly 200-300 protesters stormed the lobby of the exchange, their flares filling the building with red smoke and setting off alarms. "We are here, we are here, even if Macron does not want it we are here," they chanted, as a small contingent of riot police waited outside.

According to the flags and banners they carried, many of the protesters were rail workers, whose unions earlier called for "expressions of anger" outside railway stations on Thursday.

Western media suddenly hates Twitter's 'government-funded' labels

Recently, some media outlets have quit Twitter over what they see as unjust labeling, which leads to the question - where was their outrage when the same rules were being applied to their competition?

Where was the Western fury when the social media platform was slapping labels of state affiliation or funding on media linked to Russia and China, like RT? Nowhere to be found. How about when the platform was extending that same labeling to individual journalists contributing to those platforms? Again, silent. It's only now that they can't object strongly enough. So what changed?

The platform's 'newish' owner, Elon Musk, woke up one morning recently and decided to level the playing field by slapping Western media recipients of state funding with the "government funded" label. Britain's BBC has protested its tagging, America's National Public Radio rage-quit the platform over its new designation, and Canada's CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) suspended posting. "Twitter can be a powerful tool for our journalists to communicate with Canadians, but it undermines the accuracy and professionalism of the work they do to allow our independence to be falsely described in this way," CBC spokesman Leon Mar said.

$100 million worth of gold stolen from Canada's largest airport

canada airport
Canada's national police force is investigating a heist at Canada's busiest airport that may have netted thieves more than $100 million worth of gold.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed they are looking into a gold robbery at Pearson International Airport, just outside Toronto. Gold mined in Canada can travel through Pearson on its way to customers around the world.

The airport did not respond to a request for comment. Peel Regional Police, who are responsible for the area, asked for the Mounties' help, the RCMP said.

Best of the Web: Huge explosion leaves 20 meter crater in road in southwest Russia's Belgorod region

Belgorod explosion
© Mayor of Belgorod City Valentin Demidov via Telegram/Handout via REUTERSA view shows the accident scene following a large blast in a street in the city of Belgorod, Russia, April 20, 2023.
An explosion occurred in the southwestern Russian city of Belgorod late on Tuesday, shattering windows, damaging cars and leaving a crater of about 20 meters in diameter, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram.

"An explosion has occurred. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. The blast left a crater around 20 meters in diameter at a crossroads in the city center. Windows were shattered in an apartment block nearby. The shockwave damaged several cars parked in the area and knocked down power supply lines," he said.

City Mayor Valentin Demidov, the region's security department chief Yevgeny Vorobyov and emergency services are working at the scene.

Details of the incident will be made public later, the governor said.

Comment: Reuters, citing TASS, alleges the blast was caused by a Russian warplane that accidentally discharged a missile:
Local authorities reported a large blast in the city, which lies just across the border from Ukraine. The regional governor said two women had been injured.

"As a Sukhoi Su-34 air force plane was flying over the city of Belgorod there was an accidental discharge of aviation ammunition," Tass cited the defence ministry as saying.

It did not say what kind of weapon was involved.

The Su-34 is a supersonic fighter-bomber jet.

The ministry said some buildings had been damaged and announced a probe was already under way, according to Tass.

Video footage from the site showed piles of concrete on the street, several damaged cars and a building with broken windows. One shot showed what appeared to be car upside down on the roof of a store.

The Belgorod region is one of several parts of southern Russia where targets such as fuel and ammunition stores have been rocked by explosions since the start of what Moscow calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.

Clown world: College shuts down study on trans athletes in sport after researcher calls biological males 'males'

The university in a rejection letter said the language used in the application was 'not sensitive'

Dr John Armstrong, a scholar at King's College London (KCL), applied to carry out a survey of elite athletes and volunteers on whether trans women, who are born male, should compete in women's track and field categories and whether they felt they could express their views.

However, the university's ethics panel rejected his application last week citing equality and diversity concerns, in what has been labelled an attack on academic freedom.

In a rejection letter, the university said: "The language is not sensitive and the misgendering of athletes is not appropriate... there is obvious bias in the language and there is very little scientific reasoning underpinning the hypothesis."

KCL took issue with how Dr Armstrong had referred to trans women as "males" in his research proposal.

Canadian 'experts' claim capitalism, white supremacy to blame for climate change

theresa tam
On Monday, the Public Health Agency of Canada released a report on climate change and its impact on Canadians' wellbeing. The document centred around interviews with numerous "key public health experts," each of whom tied environmental issues to their particular cause du jour.

The report alleged that white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, and racism were all "systemic drivers of negative health outcomes and climate change," and therefore the only way forward is via a plan focused on "decolonizing, justice, and equity."

The report begins with the authors, Isaac White, Jennifer Otoadese, and self-identified "white settler scholar" Dr. Heather Castleden, stating that, "we acknowledge that we are uninvited land occupiers who by virtue of our identities contribute to the multiple manifestations of settler colonialism in our society."

Comment: The only possible conclusion anyone in their right mind can draw from this is that these people are batshit crazy.

Biden to punish good-credit homebuyers to subsidize high-risk mortgages

home for sale sign
A new rule from the Biden administration will force homebuyers with good credit scores to pay higher mortgage rates in order to subsidize loans to those with riskier borrowing profiles, the Washington Times reports.

The fee, which will apply to those buying or refinancing houses after May 1, will affect homebuyers with credit scores of 680 or higher, will amount to roughly $40 per month on a home loan of $400,000, or nearly $500 per year. Homebuyers who make down payments of 15% - 20% will be hit with the largest fees.

According to those in the industry, the changes will frustrate homebuyers with high credit scores, as well as those looking to refinance, as they're being punished for having strong financial positions.

Florida officially limits gender, sexual orientation instruction in all school grades

© Lynne Sladky APGov. Ron DeSantis and now-Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. share the podium in 2019.
The State Board of Education on Wednesday voted to bar Florida middle school and high school teachers from "intentionally" teaching students about sexual orientation or gender identity, unless the lessons are part of a reproductive health course or are "expressly required" by the state's academic standards.

Teachers who do otherwise could be suspended or their teaching license could be revoked.

Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, the head of the Florida Department of Education, said the rule is meant to "provide clarity" to teachers about what they can and cannot teach on those topics.

5th-gen warfare, part 3

cyberstalking
What a bizarre world we are living in. The Epoch Times has recently published an article based on whistleblower evidence that the United States Government, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has used it's congressionally-approved non-profit (called the CDC Foundation) to contract with at least one company to perform cyberstalking and gang stalking attacks on licensed physicians accused of spreading misinformation about COVID public health policies including genetic vaccines.
centers for disease control
You can read the full Epoch times article here.

Frankly, I think that the editors of the Epoch Times buried the lede on this one. This is a far larger story of government malfeasance than the relatively benign headline seems to indicate. Of course corporate media has completely overlooked <eg. buried> the story. This is yet more evidence of the US Government deploying Fifth Generation (cyber)Warfare/PsyOps/Propaganda technologies on its citizens, in this specific case against US Licensed physicians that contradicted officially promoted false narratives concerning the COVIDcrisis and the abysmal public health policies which were promoted by the WHO, US HHS, and specifically the CDC.

As I have said many times before, how can a democratic society exist when the government is willing and able to deploy fifth generation PsyOps/PsyWar technologies against its own citizens? The concept of personal sovereignty and autonomy becomes obsolete, an anachronism, when this becomes accepted practice.

Germany critically short of housing as construction tanks due to lockdowns, energy crisis, inflation

Duitse Vlag
© Anadolu AgencyPermits for new buildings have dropped dramatically since last year
Real estate experts expect a further decline in new residential construction in Germany as building permits for dwellings slumped 20.6% year-on-year in February, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported on Tuesday.

According to the latest numbers, a total of 22,300 building permits for dwellings were issued in February, representing a decrease of 5,800 permits compared to the same period last year. The number of construction permits has been steadily declining since last May and has fallen by 10% each month from October 2022, Destatis said.

In its spring report, the German Property Federation (ZIA) said that housing shortages are likely to have reached their highest level in 20 years and that the gap between supply and demand may widen to 700,000 buildings by 2025.

Comment: Unless Germany restarts its nuclear reactors, ditches its US-vassal status, and removes the sanctions on Russia, the chances are that adequate new builds will become a luxury reserved for the wealthy; although it's possible that the state will kindly provide 'warm islands' for its impoverished citizens to cram into.
