The record-breaking cryptocurrency bitcoin has broken through yet another milestone, topping $10,800 on Wednesday.

The cryptocurrency's value skyrocketed unprecedentedly over 2017, rising from below $1,000 on January 1. According to blockchain and cryptocurrency website Coindesk, as of 2:30 am GMT Wednesday, Bitcoin was trading at around $10,030.

Bitcoin later climbed past $10,000 on the major Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency trading platform BitStamp.

Comment: Make that $11,000.

Sweden: Fire brigades now wait for SWAT teams before entering migrant suburbs

After a fire alarm went off in a garage with fifty cars in Uppsala, the fire brigade was nowhere to be seen.

According to a witness, people in the suburb of Gottsunda had to wait (for almost) an hour before the emergency services arrived.

At 9:34 pm the emergency services arrived much too late at the place. Lisa Sannervik, a police spokeswoman, said "the delay was because of safety measures".

Earlier there were attacks on responding teams and helmet and weapon reinforcements were needed to safely escort the fire brigade in the suburb.

That probably had to do with the police and housing companies conducting searches in the area in a fight against organised crime. It could not be ruled out that the garage fire in Gottsunda was retaliation for the work that was performed earlier that week.

"Of course, it is regrettable for residents in the area. But we need to put security for our staff in first place" said Lisa Sannervik.

London's mayor calls for gender-neutral toilets -- rational people balk at the idea

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called for the introduction of gender-neutral toilets across the capital to reflect the needs of LGBT people. Elsewhere in the UK, however, people are far from embracing the all-inclusive approach.

The mayor included calls for gender-neutral toilets in his new London Plan, a document due to be published this week.

He said the toilets would reflect London's diverse society and reassure people they will have the facilities they need when strolling around the capital.

"I have vowed to be a mayor for all Londoners so I am determined to ensure that everyone has the ability to enjoy our great city to its fullest," he said according to the Guardian. "Toilets are a vital public service and can help to shape the experience of the capital for those who live here and for those visiting.

"We need a range of toilets that reflect the incredible diversity of this city - giving people the confidence to move around London with dignity."

Indiana nurse says every white male baby should be sacrificed to wolves, celebrates viral 'fame' [UPDATE]

Indiana Nurse Says Every White Male Baby Should Be Killed
Nurse Taiyesha Baker of Riley Children's Health in Indiana is under investigation for tweeting that every white male baby is "a detriment to society" that "should be sacrificed to the wolves."

"Every white woman raises a detriment to society when they raise a son. Someone with the HIGHEST propensity to be a terrorist, rapist, racist, killer, and domestic violence all star. Historically every son you had should be sacrificed to the wolves B***h," Baker said on Twitter.

Comment: Rapid shifts are occurring in societies' attitudes and these divisions are being fostered by the liberal propaganda media, one in particular which is actually praised by certain social groups is a prejudice towards straight white males.

The nurse featured above clearly has psychological issues which need medical attention. But for some people at least, one wonders whether this feeling of injustice is actually a reaction to the wholesale degradation of western society but their anger is being redirected away from the real perpetrators in the western establishment. UPDATE: It appears that she is no longer employed at IU Health:
Taiyesha Baker lost her job over the weekend after being linked to several troubling posts online, according to the Indianapolis Star.
...

Baker's tweet and the Night Nurse account were quickly deleted amid Indiana University Health's investigation into the November 25 rant. Another account using the same Twitter handle was reportedly created by a different person, who began posting new comments following Baker's dismissal.

IU Health System spokesman Jason Fechner would not confirm that Baker was fired, citing the healthcare provider's policy of disclosing employee information. The hospital said in a statement last week that it was looking into the incident and would take "appropriate action."

Uncontrolled police K9 randomly mauls to death family dog

Police k9 kills family dog
A family is grieving and asking for answers after Ginger, their beloved Cavapoo - a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix - was mauled to death by an out of control police K9.

"She was my best friend," Kristine Forde said of her tiny little dog that weighed less than ten pounds.

Forde happens to live in the same neighborhood as two Rockland County Sheriff's deputies. One of those deputies is a German shepherd who lives with his detective handler.

Forde, who is 13-years-old, was getting ready for school last Tuesday around 7:00 am when the family's nanny took Ginger on a walk to Grand Street in New City.

Both privacy and free speech are at risk in Supreme Court cell phone case

On Wednesday, the supreme court will consider whether the government must obtain a warrant before accessing the rich trove of data that cellphone providers collect about cellphone users' movements. Among scholars and campaigners, there is broad agreement that the case could yield the most consequential privacy ruling in a generation.

Less appreciated is the significance of the case for rights protected by the first amendment. The parties' briefs make little mention of the first amendment, instead framing the dispute - for understandable reasons - as one about the right to privacy. Yet the court's resolution of the case is likely to have far-reaching implications for the freedoms of speech, press and association.

The case, Carpenter v United States, arises out of the government's prosecution of Timothy Carpenter for a series of armed robberies carried out in south-eastern Michigan and north-western Ohio several years ago. In the course of its investigation of the crimes, the government ordered Carpenter's cellphone provider to turn over data it had collected relating to Carpenter's movements. In response, the provider produced 186 pages listing every call that Carpenter had made over a 127-day period, as well as coordinates indicating where Carpenter had been at the beginning and end of each of those calls.

Egyptian pop singer Sherine Abdel Wahab has been referred to trial for suggesting at a concert that drinking from the Nile River could lead to illness, judicial officials said Wednesday.

The singer's trial date has been set for 23 December, they said, on charges of "harming the public interest".

The announcement came after the Musicians Syndicate in Egypt said it would bar her from performing in the country after she made the remark at a concert in the United Arab Emirates.

The Canadian government will pay up to $113 million to members of the LGBTQ community who were purged from public sector jobs over the course of four decades, according to local media. It is considered the largest such payment by any state worldwide.

The C$145 million (US$113.3 million) will go towards those who were cut from jobs in the federal public service, the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and intelligence services, according to the news outlet. The newspaper claimed this will be "the largest financial commitment by any national government for past wrongs committed against sexual minorities."

The payment is reportedly part of an agreement-in-principle reached on Friday between victims of the purge, who filed a class-action lawsuit, and the federal government. The government is also ready to pardon and expunge the records of those who were convicted under laws which criminalized homosexuality, it is reported.

Does being a Republican still mean something or are they merely spineless jellyfish

jellyfish
© public domainOne or more of these may be Republicans.
The spineless Republicans in Washington have been compromising for so long that it seems like many of them don't really stand for much of anything these days. I was 10 years old when Ronald Reagan won the 1980 election, and ever since that day I have considered myself to be a conservative. Even at such an early age, Reagan's message resonated with me, and I felt that I clearly understood what it meant to be a Republican. But now I'm not so sure. Many of the Republicans in Congress are often doing the exact opposite of what Reagan would have done, and this is confusing a lot of people.

For example, just look at the Obamacare debacle. For years, Republican politicians have pledged to repeal Obamacare if we would just give them control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. So we did that, and Obamacare still has not been repealed. Many are pointing to John McCain's shocking betrayal on Friday, but the truth is that the effort to do something about Obamacare has been a disaster from the very beginning.

Instead of simply repealing Obamacare, Republican leadership in the House and in the Senate attempted to "replace" Obamacare with a slightly less odious version of Obamacare. But that isn't what we wanted, and that sure isn't what we were promised.

I still remember the days when the Republican Party actually believed in free enterprise. Free markets work exceedingly well when you take the shackles off, but for some reason Republicans in Washington don't seem to want to apply free market principles to our health care system.

Comment: Snyder offers a shoulda, coulda wishlist of 'presto magicos'. Congress is at best a fluctuating and dysfunctional dynamic. Given the gigantic dose of liberal-foisted confusion and legal snares, it has no perceivable momentum. If you are drowning in swamp water, sometimes being a jellyfish is the best you can do.

Imminent Demolition: Palestinian community protests barbaric Israeli expulsion order

The small village is located in E1, an area in which the U.S. and Europe have long demanded Israel not build new settlements, because doing so would cut the West Bank in two.

Around 100 demonstrators joined the Palestinian community of Jabal al-Baba on Thursday, November 23, in the E1 area of the West Bank adjacent to the Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim, to protest a new Israeli-military order that would displace the entire community. On November 16, members of the community received the military order to leave their homes and take with them all of their belongings-the first step in the eventual demolition of their homes. Thursday was the day they were supposed to leave, according to the order.

The West Bank area known as E1, where Jabal al-Baba is located, is the site of an Israeli plan to build several thousand settlement housing units. For over a decade the United States and European Union have demanded that Israel halt the project, which would connect annexed East Jerusalem with the settlement of Maaleh Adumim, thereby making a geographically contiguous Palestinian state all-but impossible.
