US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had kept his hospitalization secret, even from the White House.

US President Joe Biden won't fire Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for hiding his hospitalization from both the public and the government, Politico reported on Monday, citing unnamed senior administration officials.

Austin was admitted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last Monday due to "complications following a recent elective medical procedure," the Pentagon revealed to reporters on Friday. Over the weekend, it emerged that Austin was still in the hospital but that no one had informed the White House of his initial absence.

Four anonymous officials spoke to Politico following calls by Republicans for Austin to relinquish his post, insisting that Biden is "famously loyal" and would refuse to accept a resignation even if the former general were to offer it.
"Austin's going nowhere," one senior administration official told the outlet.

COVID vaccine creator has facial paralysis and no one talks about it

Özlem Türeci
Özlem Türeci, right
Questions are being asked to why the co-creator of the first Pfizer COVID vaccine seemingly suffers from partial facial paralysis, a side-effect of vaccines, but no one really talks about it.

Özlem Türeci, a Turkish-German physician, is credited with developing the first messenger RNA-based vaccine to treat COVID for biotechnology company BioNTech in 2020.

However, despite being given given copious amounts of air time by the mainstream media, she appears to have escaped one crucial question - what happened to her face?

Amanda Benson, 42, 'pleaded guilty to get away from trans woman'

A mother-of-four claims she pleaded guilty to a crime she didn't commit to avoid returning to a prison that housed two trans inmates locked up for murder and sex assault, MailOnline can reveal.

Amanda Benson, 42, from Inverkip, Scotland, was imprisoned on remand at HMP Greenock with the two trans women - murderer Alex Stewart, 34, and sexual assaulter Laura Miller, 30. Neither have had gender surgery or taken gender-affirming hormones, Mrs Benson said.

Stewart - previously known as Alan Baker - was jailed for 19 years for stabbing father-of-two John Weir, 36, to death after they met on a dating site. The trans prisoner reportedly started dating a female child killer in HMP Greenock in 2020.

Miller was jailed for almost two years in 2022 after she sexually assaulted a woman who had taken sleeping medication on multiple occasions in 2017 and even filmed one of the attacks, in which she made an offensive sexual remark about her.

Although she had committed the offence when she was in jail with Mrs Benson, it was only in 2022 that she was convicted of that crime. In 2018, she was in Greenock Prison for a different unknown crime.

Daily Caller columnist Mary Rooke slammed Democrats' attempts to remove former President Donald Trump from the ballot during a Friday appearance on Newsmax and argued that Democratic voters are now "weighed down" by their party's policies.

Rooke appeared on The Carl Higbie Frontline to discuss Trump's removal from the Colorado and Maine primary ballots, as well as Biden's recent response to anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Rooke told Higbie that no one knows "how low" Democrats might stoop in their struggle to keep Trump from returning to office, alluding to speculation that the Supreme Court's likely rejection of ballot removal efforts would leave the former president's enemies with no option but assassination.

The UK should condemn the depopulation of Gaza "in the strongest possible manner," Humza Yousaf has said...

Israel's proposed removal and resettlement of Gaza's Palestinian population is "the textbook definition of ethnic cleansing," Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf has said. Yousaf is the first UK party leader to condemn the controversial depopulation plan.

Speaking to Sky News on Friday, Yousaf condemned recent comments by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who said last week that West Jerusalem should "encourage emigration" from Gaza in order to reduce its Arab population from over two million to between 100,000 and 200,000. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir made a similar call, stating that Israel should push for the "voluntary migration" of Palestinians from the blockaded Gaza enclave.

Yousaf told the British broadcaster:
"We are seeing not only a humanitarian crisis, but we're now seeing senior members of the [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu government making statements that are, frankly, the textbook definition of ethnic cleansing. And that should be condemned in the strongest possible manner."
Smotrich and Ben-Gvir's proposal was rejected by the UK Foreign Office and the US State Department, which called it "inflammatory and irresponsible." Yousaf, who heads the Scottish National Party, is the only political party leader in the UK to accuse Israel of "ethnic cleansing," a charge more commonly leveled by Palestinian officials and Israel's Arab neighbors.

The country's state oil giant says negotiations with protesters to resume operations are ongoing...

Force majeure has been declared at Libya's largest oilfield, Sharara, after protesters shut down the field, according to a statement released by the National Oil Company (NOC) on Sunday.

The company added that negotiations are ongoing to resume production at the site as soon as possible. The statement reads:
"The National Oil Corporation has declared a force majeure on the Sharara oilfield effective Sunday, January 7th, 2024, due to it's closure by protesters."
According to the company, the closure has resulted in the suspension of crude oil supplies from the field to the Zawiya export terminal.

The 300,000-barrel-per-day field in southern Libya has been occupied by protesters since Tuesday. They have been urging the government to address their demands, such as the provision of fuel and its derivatives in the region of Fezzan, the activation of a refinery project in the south, road infrastructure improvements, employment opportunities for local graduates, restructuring of the Fezzan Reconstruction Fund, as well as the revocation of an agreement between the Ministry of Health and the NOC regarding Ubari General Hospital.

Harvard professor: Now-resigned president made the university 'a police organization'

Harvard University became a "police organization" during Claudine Gay's administration, a physics professor told The Wall Street Journal.

Following another round of plagiarism allegations against Gay, she resigned as president of the university Tuesday. One physicist described to the WSJ an environment of intolerance to certain opinions, and told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an email that faculty members at Harvard are "afraid to speak their mind."

"Faculty are reluctant to speak their mind out of fear from being disciplined or canceled. It is an Orwellian reality dominated by 'virtue signaling' among like-minded people, even when the adopted policy violates the principles it aims to promote. Free speech is often granted to those who think alike," Avi Loeb, a theoretical physicist in Harvard's Department of Astronomy, told the DCNF.

"The message was, don't deviate from what they find to be appropriate," Loeb told the WSJ. "It became more of a police organization."

California state health insurance to cover sex changes for illegal immigrants

California Governor Gavin Newsom
The Golden State is expanding its massive health care system this year, which means more taxpayer dollars will fund sex change surgeries for state residents, regardless of their citizenship status.

According to a memo first circulated in May 2022 and reported by the Daily Caller Foundation, California's Medi-Cal covers costs for hormone therapy and procedures "that bring primary and secondary gender characteristics into conformity with the individual's identified gender, including ancillary services, such as hair removal, incident to those services."

Nearly 700,000 illegal immigrants between the ages of 26 and 49 qualify, as of Jan. 1, for these federal health care services, which will cost California taxpayers an estimated $3.1 billion. For those living in California illegally within this age range, it translates to approximately $4,058 per year in medical coverage subsidies funded by the state's general fund.

After Harvard shakeup, Chris Rufo offers conservative game plan to retake elite institutions

Christopher Rufo
Christopher Rufo
Conservative activist Christopher Rufo has written a tactical game plan for how American conservatives can fix their country and its institutions.

Late last year, then-Harvard president Claudine Gay's career became national news after she became accused of misdeeds ranging from tolerating antisemitic comments on campus to plagiarism in her academic writings. Rufo, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, helped expose the plagiarism allegations against Gay until she eventually stepped down from Harvard's presidency.

After taking some credit for having "squeezed" Gay out of her position in an op-ed, he also wrote a broader manifesto, "The New Right Activism" for IM-1776, explaining how to achieve similar shakeups elsewhere.

He argued that many young and intellectual conservatives recognize that the tactics used by their predecessors in past decades "are no longer viable, and that ideas without power are useless." He proposed instead, "What [conservatism] needs is a spirited new activism with the courage and resolve to win back the language, recapture institutions, and reorient the state toward rightful ends."
