Video shows Spanish Civil Guard patrol boat 'plough' into migrant speedboat

Human rights organisations in Morocco and Spain have urged Spanish authorities to open an investigation following the emergence of a video that appears to show a Spanish police patrol boat colliding with a small Zodiac speedboat, believed to have been carrying migrants trying to get to Spanish territory.

Footage shows the Spanish Civil Guard chasing the speedboat and attempting to block its path when it ploughs into it. According to local reports, the four passengers on the speedboat were flung into the water, and one briefly required hospital treatment. All passengers are understood to have been rescued.

The incident occurred off the coast of Melilla, a Spanish territory in North Africa. Local authorities say the Civil Guard followed standard procedures to prevent migrants from reaching the shore. Moroccan officials stated they are investigating the collision, while Spain's interior ministry has announced that it will not launch an investigation.

Comment: Which may further highlight just how other nations, such as the UK, Italy, Greece, and so on, aren't actually doing everything within their powers to deter these migrants boats.

Comment: Spain is certainly struggling to deal with the influx of illegal migrants, with the following selection of footage mostly from just the last few months:

War on Gaza: Aid workers killed in Israeli strike on humanitarian convoy

The attack on US charity's aid convoy heading to Emirati hospital comes hours after an Israeli strike targeted a World Food Programme convoy

An Israeli air strike has hit a humanitarian aid convoy laden with medical supplies and fuel for an Emirati-run hospital in Rafah, killing several workers.

Israeli forces claimed the attack targeted "armed assailants" who were attempting to hijack the convoy, which was organised by the US charity, Anera.

But Anera said that several employees of the transportation company it had worked with had been killed in the attack.

All the fatalities were in the vehicle leading the convoy, which was the target of the attack.

According to unconfirmed reports, five people were killed in the strike.

Explosion at munitions factory in Germany follows numerous incidents at industrial sites in recent months

Munitions factory explosion in Germany leaves two men seriously injured 30 August 2024 15:20 (UTC +04:00)

An explosion at a munitions factory in Troisdorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, left two men seriously injured, APA reports citing German media.

Police and firefighters are responding with a large-scale operation, and rescue helicopters are reportedly on the scene.

Comment: The above is particularly notable because there was a suspicious spate of incidents at military sites back in April, elsewhere in the West: Explosion rocks UK's only munitions filling factory, day after US shell plant bursts into flames

However, of late, Germany in particular has seen a spike in fires and incidents at industrial sites:

26th August:
Fire breaks out in chemical park in eastern Germany

A fire broke out in the Leuna Chemical Park in the eastern German state of Saxony-Anhalt on Monday morning.

The plant's fire brigade is currently engaged, and external forces have not yet been requested, a spokesman for the operating company Infraleuna said.

Residents reported on social media that there had been a loud bang beforehand.

According to Infraleuna, the fire brigade's operation is under way in the area of the company Linde in the chemical park.

Linde AG operates the company's largest gas centre in Leuna, producing hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide and other speciality gases.
29th July:
Fire at BASF chemicals plant in Germany extinguished; 14 hurt

A fire that broke out at German chemicals giant BASF's plant in Ludwigshafen has been extinguished, a company spokesperson and police said on Monday.

Fourteen workers sustained minor injuries in the incident, which occurred when an explosion set off a blaze in a southern section of the company's headquarters, a BASF statement said.

The company did not provide details on whether there was any impact on production.

BASF said its environmental control vehicles measured slightly elevated levels of hydrocarbons in the area but that there was no threat to the public.

A column of smoke was visible from outside the premises.

Shares in the company were down 2% at midday, after falling by as much as 2.8% earlier on news of the fire.
Whether these incidents are related remains to be seen. However it is notable that Germany recently declared a moratorium on supplying arms to the NATO-Kiev junta for the war on Russia in Ukraine. Although, soon after, it then 'reaffirmed' its support via various other means, including billions stolen Russian assets, as well as troop training.

Defense News reported on the 20th of August:
Following the leak of a letter by German Finance Minister Christian Lindner over the weekend, media have been speculating about whether the country will be able to keep up its high level of support for Ukraine in 2025. In the missive dated Aug. 5, Lindner wrote that "new measures" should only be taken once funding is secured under a new budget - a longstanding contentious issue within the coalition government.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper first reported on the letter, which was also seen by the German press agency dpa.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported on Saturday about a supposed moratorium declared by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on new weapons deliveries to Ukraine beyond what has already been authorized, citing internal documents. This aligns with Lindner's internal request to respect spending caps, which also cover defense.

Germany is Europe's most significant backer of Kyiv's defensive fight against Russian invaders, providing over €14 billion ($15.5 billion) in support - mostly military - between when the invasion started in February 2022 and the end of June 2024, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy's public tracker.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, government spokesperson Wolfgang Büchner countered journalists' questions on the FAZ reporting, saying that "absolutely nothing will change in our commitment and decisiveness in supporting Ukraine." Suggesting otherwise would be "almost defamatory," he said.

It is true, however, that Berlin is clamoring to balance a new federal budget that has been hotly contested for months. Currently, €4 billion are slated for supporting Ukraine next year, down from €7.5 billion in 2024. This year's number was raised from an original value of €4 billion by the Bundestag, the German parliament.

Instead of taking Ukraine aid money from Germany's budget, it would in the future come from dividends on frozen Russian assets, the German finance minister said in his internal letter. The G7 countries have vowed to use the vast frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's survival, including furnishing a $50 billion loan to the country.

Meanwhile, already-authorized German weapons deliveries will continue in 2025, Büchner confirmed on Monday. In the next calendar year, "more than 20 PzH 2000, Zuzana and RCH 155 howitzers, 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 37 Leopard 1A5s, five Gepards, three IRIS-T SLM systems and also three IRIS-T SLS systems, as well as two Skynex air defense systems and thousands of rounds of ammunition" will be transferred to Ukraine, he said.

Extreme gaslighting: Here are 7 signs that the mainstream media is flat out lying to us about the economy

gaslighting
How many times have you heard the mainstream media tell you that the economy is doing just great in recent months? Personally, I have seen the word "booming" used over and over again to describe the economy, and it makes me sick. The level of gaslighting that we are witnessing right now is off the charts. Millions of Americans are sleeping in their vehicles, thousands of businesses are failing all over the nation, and most of the country now believes that the American Dream is no longer attainable. If this is what a "booming" economy feels like, I would hate to see what would happen during a "recession".

I totally understand why the mainstream media is gaslighting us. They want us to believe that everything is fine so that we will vote a certain way in November. They have an agenda, and they are pushing it really hard.

But what they are telling us simply does not match up with reality.

Leftist Colorado Gov. Jared Polis calls violent migrant gang takeover of apartments 'imagination'

Colorado Governor Jared Polis dismissed the very real concerns of Aurora residents regarding the takeover of local apartment complexes by the notorious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

Polis arrogantly dismissed the outcry as mere "imagination" despite overwhelming evidence, including video footage, police reports, and confirmation from the city's mayor.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Fitzsimon's apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado was forced to close its doors, displacing hundreds of families who have called the building home.

The takeover is the direct result of the Biden-Harris regime's dangerous open borders policies, which have allowed criminals to pour into the country unchecked.

Charges against Durov 'absurd' - lawyer

The Telegram CEO cannot be involved in crimes that have nothing to do with him, David-Olivier Kaminski says

Charges against Telegram CEO Pavel Durov alleging that he was complicit in a litany of crimes purportedly orchestrated on his platform are completely preposterous, his lawyer has told AFP.

Durov, who was arrested upon arrival at a Paris airport last week, was placed under formal investigation on Wednesday and released on bail of €5 million ($5.5 million) on condition that he does not leave France.

His indictment carried a dozen charges, including refusal to cooperate with authorities, complicity in offenses related to child sexual abuse material, and drug trafficking, as well as complicity "administering an online platform" used by organized gangs to conduct illicit transactions. The last crime carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison and a fine of €500,000.

Comment:
1) The French paper Liberation had an article which translated reads:
What does the judicial control of Pavel Durov, boss of Telegram, banned from leaving France consist of?
Some translated excerpts from the official message and quoted in the article read:
"was placed under judicial supervision with in particular the obligation to provide a deposit of 5 million euros, the obligation to report to the police station twice a week, and the ban on leaving French territory".

"is free and must pay bail, failing which his judicial control may be revoked. He must reside at the address fixed by the judge, with hours to be respected, and the police station will always be the same (unless a change of declared address is granted by the judge)."

"the ban on leaving the territory actually goes hand in hand with the surrender of all passports."

"a judicial review is distinct from a house arrest under electronic surveillance. It is indeed a judicial review which was decided by the judge, without a bracelet therefore".
2) From the same outlet as the article, there was a comment from Nassim Taleb on his view of what Macron has said about the case:

Nassim Taleb says the French president's words about the arrest of the Telegram founder should be interpreted "in reverse"

French President Emmanuel Macron's statements about the arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov should be interpreted as the opposite of what he actually says, economist and 'Black Swan' author Nassim Taleb has said.

The French leader posted a message on X on Monday insisting that the detention of Durov was "in no way a political decision" and was part of an ongoing "judicial investigation." Macron claimed that France is, and will be, "deeply committed to freedom of expression and communication, to innovation, and to the spirit of entrepreneurship."

However, the president pointed out that "in a state governed by the rule of law, freedoms are upheld within a legal framework" and that "it is up to the judiciary, in full independence, to enforce the law."

Nassim responded to the president's message by writing that "every word he wrote must be interpreted in reverse" and described Macron's statement as "Orwellian."

"Expecting a Hegelian state to safeguard liberty is akin to trusting a bordello owner to promote chastity," the author wrote.

3) The EU rules stipulate that if a platform has more than 45 million users they have to register and comply with their social media legislation. Telegram used, according to Telegram to have 41 million users. With the publicity given to the case this number might well go up, bringing Telegram monthly users undeniably above the 45 million. How this will affect the platform is to be seen.

With Macron due in Belgrade later this week, Pavic said he hopes Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will back his criticism of Durov's arrest with a practical step, such as suspending talks to buy Rafale fighter jets from France.
Note: According to French media, Macron began a two day visit to Serbia on August 29.

5) An alternative to Telegram encryption codes is for France is to implement or request a country blocking like it has done with Rumble and Odysee.

For now only some channels are blocked as requested by European Governments. Politico had this headline in 2022:
Telegram bans Russian state media after pressure from Europe
Major tech firms have also banned RT from their platforms.

The Federal Property Tax

Property Tax
© ericpetersautos.com
There's a reason why you'll never truly own your home. It is called the property tax. It is a yearly tax - paid forever - based on what the taxers say your home is worth this year, irrespective of what you paid for it when you thought you bought it.

You may have paid $250,000 for it many years ago. Maybe because that's all you could afford to pay when you thought you bought it. Fast-forward ten years and the taxers say it is now worth $500,000 and "assess" the tax you are required to pay on the basis of that figure. Your "gains" are $250k - and now you "owe."

Never mind that no actual increase in your worth - and so your ability to pay - has occurred, because you're living in rather than selling the house.

These ever-upticking taxes on what you may like to think of as your home (which of course it's not; if you are obliged to pay money in order to be allowed to occupy it you are paying rent) serve the dual purpose of preventing you from ever truly owning your home and eventually forcing you out of your home.

Recent events prove Western nations are highly vulnerable to cyber calamity

cybercrime
As most people are aware, this month there was a sweeping internet outage across the US which led to a failure in roughly 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices. Disruptions included banks, airline networks, emergency call centers, online retailers and numerous corporate networks. The outage is estimated to have caused at least $5.4 billion in profit losses and it only lasted about a day.

The alleged cause of the breakdown was Crowdstrike, a cyber-security company that uses large scale data updates to Microsoft Windows networks to counter cyber threats. Instead, the company uploaded bugged code and caused a cascading outage. Mac and Linux machines were not affected.

The scale of the shutdown was immense - Over 25% of Fortune 500 companies were frozen. Travel essentially stopped. Business transactions for many companies ceased. Some banks including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, TD Bank and Wells Fargo could not function and customers could not access their accounts.

UK nurses' union has decided to restrict medical care for patients who oppose unrestricted illegal immigration

The UK's registered nurses union has issued new recommendations on situations in which they can refuse treatment and deny patients medical care, including those who oppose illegal immigration because they believe they are "racist."

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said in updated guidelines dated August 6, 2024, that some situations may justify withholding treatment, withdrawing care or seeking an alternative.
"In response to comments from Health Minister Wes Streeting, we have updated our guidance on when and how members can refuse treatment for a patient in their care. We recognize that every patient interaction is unique and this will be the most difficult decision for RCN members to make," the RCN said in a statement posted on its website.
The RCN said the new set of rules is linked to ongoing racist attacks targeting medical staff. The health minister has reportedly expressed a commitment to tackling "racist attacks on all health professionals" and has decided that this is grounds for refusing to admit patients.

Binance ripped for seizing Palestinian crypto at request of Israel Defense Forces

Binance has come under fire for restricting access for Palestinian users at the behest of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Ray Youssef, co-founder of Paxful, has alleged that the global exchange had confiscated the funds, stating on X, "Binance has seized all funds from all Palestinians as per the request of the IDF. They refuse to return the funds. All appeals denied."

Comment: So much for crypto as a safe haven.
