Russia is locked into yet another standoff with an American tech company. This time, it's YouTube, which has taken down two of RT's German-language news channels and provoked a furious response from Moscow's most senior officials.

The decision, understood to have been taken over allegations the broadcaster tried to circumvent a 'community standards strike' handed down over 'medical misinformation', has seen Russia's regulators rally round RT DE and its sister account, Der Fehlende Part.

Roskomnadzor, the Russian federal executive agency responsible for overseeing the media, warned Google it would be fined if did not end the suspension. At the same time, RT's editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan, cautioned that this was "a declaration of media war against Russia by Germany," and argued in favour of retaliatory restrictions against German media in Russia.

Landmark report cites sports' issues with 'fairness and safety', raising questions for English rugby among others.

The Rugby Football Union are reviewing transgender inclusion in women's rugby as a major new report concludes that trans women do retain advantages in physique, strength and stamina.

The report, which has been published by the UK's five sports councils, asserts that key physical differences remain even after reducing testosterone to the limits which have informed the current guidelines for most sports. "For many sports, the inclusion of transgender people, fairness and safety cannot co-exist in a single competitive model," it says.

This has meant recommending a sport by sport approach, which could include new 'open' or 'universal' categories, in an attempt to strike a balance between the competing priorities of inclusion, fair competition and safety.

Tribunal concludes Kate Wilson's human rights were breached.

An environmental activist who was tricked into a sexual relationship with an undercover officer for nearly two years, has won a landmark tribunal case against the Metropolitan Police.

The Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) concluded that Kate Wilson's right to freedom from inhuman and degrading treatment, her right to privacy and right to freedom of expression had all been breached.

In a statement released following the ruling on Thursday, Ms Wilson said sexual predators within the police and attempts by officers to criminalise protesters "are both still very live issues today".

The shocking revelation that the armed forces implemented a secret information campaign in 2020 to brainwash people over the pandemic is proof of deliberate intent to quash critical and independent thought and freedoms.

As a Canadian citizen who recovered from Covid and acquired natural immunity and antibodies without the anti-Covid vaccine, the government doesn't much appreciate my narrative.

Proof lies in the fact that when I arrived back home in Vancouver from my work base in Europe in August, the federal government demanded that I pay for my own three-day imprisonment in a government mandated facility at a cost of up to $2,000. Refusal resulted in being ordered in writing to immediately get back on a plane and leave my own country under threat of penalties up to and including imprisonment. All because my acquired immunity didn't jibe with the government's "one size fits all" two-jab narrative.

Comment: Fearmongering propaganda campaigns were deployed against citizens across much of the Western world, however, as is often the case, they weren't admitted to until the damage to society had been done. A coalition of unions that represent shipping workers around the world has warned of an imminent 'global transport systems collapse' due to lingering impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an open letter on Wednesday, the workers groups warned that fragmented and inconsistent pandemic restrictions around the world have thrown global shipping into chaos.

The warning comes as supply-chain backlogs leave scores of cargo ships idling outside US ports, exacerbating shortages caused by a national truck driver shortage that threatens to derail the Christmas shopping season.


Comment: A truck driver shortage that has been reported in countries throughout Europe.


'We are witnessing unprecedented disruptions and global delays and shortages on essential goods including electronics, food, fuel and medical supplies,' the shipping workers warned.

Comment: Bear in mind that this is 18+ months' worth of stoppages that have only really just started to be felt by the consumer, and so it's likely to get a lot worse before it gets better. The US' top health agency has issued an "urgent" alert imploring "pregnant people" to receive a Covid-19 vaccine, pointing to a recent record surge in deaths among those with child and possible birth defects linked to the virus.

A Wednesday statement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) "strongly" urged vaccinations for pregnant women - or in the agency's gender-neutral phrasing, "people who are pregnant" - in order to prevent "adverse pregnancy outcomes" caused by Covid-19.

"Pregnancy can be both a special time and also a stressful time - and pregnancy during a pandemic is an added concern for families. I strongly encourage those who are pregnant or considering pregnancy to talk with their healthcare provider about the protective benefits of the Covid-19 vaccine to keep their babies and themselves safe," said CDC head Rochelle Walensky.

Texas nurse goes on trial for capital murder after allegedly intentionally injecting air into patients' arteries

A former nurse has gone on trial for the murder of four patients at a Texas hospital in 2017, with the prosecution claiming he purposefully injected air into the arteries of people recovering from heart surgery.

On Tuesday, William George Davis, 37, of Hallsville, attended the first day of his trial, where he stands accused of murdering four people. The prosecutor called him "a serial killer" who, in the hospital, had found the perfect place to hide.

It is alleged that the former East Texas nurse slipped into the patients' rooms, injected them with air, and left before any other night staff noticed what he was doing. According to court documents, four people died after experiencing "seizure-like symptoms." Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putnam told jurors during opening statements:
"No one expects this is going to happen to them - certainly not in a hospital ... We're going to ask you to find him guilty of capital murder, because that's what he did."
The four patients were recovering from heart surgery at the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

The first sitting of Moscow's city parliament, since this month's elections, was interrupted on Wednesday when the chamber's Communist Party faction simultaneously left in protest over the alleged rigging of electronic votes.

The session, held remotely, took an unusual turn when all Communists staged a walkout from the online meeting. Nikolai Zubrilin, the head of the group in the Moscow parliament, said:
"The Communist Party faction in the Moscow City Duma... does not recognize the results of the elections in the city of Moscow in single-mandate districts to the State Duma. We do not recognize the results of electronic voting... In protest, we are leaving the meeting."
The Communist MPs then departed.

Yes yes, it's absolutely "terrifying" that a governor wouldn't force little kids to wear masks all day every day, or force people to close their businesses and lock down in their homes and not visit their family. Covid Scotland: Vaccine passports may 'backfire' and discourage vaccination, committee told

The scheme was originally set to begin from Friday, but this week the Scottish Government announced a "grace period" until October 18, during which time the regulations will not be enforced.

From then on, people will be required to prove receipt of two doses of Covid-19 vaccine before entering certain large venues, including nightclubs.

But Professor John Drury, a social psychologist at Sussex University, warned the Covid-19 recovery committee on Thursday the plan may reduce vaccine take-up in some groups, the opposite of the goal outlined by Covid-19 recovery secretary John Swinney.

Prof Drury was previously involved in a systematic review of the possible social impacts of vaccine certificates, and gave evidence drawing on this and more recent reports.

Comment: Nightclubs in Scotland filed a legal challenge over the vaccine passports, which was struck down:
Scotland's vaccine passport system will launch as planned in large venues after a judge rejected a legal challenge put forward by nightclubs seeking to delay the measure from coming into force.

Announcing the verdict on Thursday, Lord David Burns ruled against the petitioners' statements that the system was "disproportionate, irrational or unreasonable" or an infringement on human rights.

Instead, the judge said the scheme fell under what the government could acceptably implement as a response to the pandemic and that it was "an attempt to address the legitimate issues identified in a balanced way".
The global trend is clearly moving in the direction of vaccine passports or mandated vaccines, however, as we have seen over the past weeks, there is also growing pushback.
