House Republicans launch investigation into Georgia DA Fani Willis for 'politically motivated' Donald Trump election fraud prosecution

Rep. Jim Jordan launched a new probe into the Georgia district attorney who indicted Donald Trump over election interference and accused her of profiting off the criminal case.

'It is noteworthy that just four days before this indictment, you launched a new campaign fundraising website that highlighted your investigation into President Trump,' the Judiciary Committee chairman wrote in a letter to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The Democratic district attorney is up for re-election in 2024.

Her campaign website does not directly highlight her indictment of Trump. It touts her work to fight gang violence, keep young people out of the criminal justice system and anti-corruption efforts.

But under an 'in the news' section, her campaign website features a New York Times report about the prosecutor that is headlined: 'In Atlanta, a Local Prosecutor Takes on Murder, Street Gangs and a President.'

Comment: Not content with just Trump, the Biden DOJ is manouvering to make giving him legal counsel a chargeable offense. Whatever happened to the "right to an attorney"? Here is the majority of his legal team who were compelled to turn themselves into Fulton County.

Beating the drums of war

President Tinubu of Nigeria is also chairman of ECOWAS, of which Nigeria is the most prominent member. He's beating the American drum for war with gusto. Boom. Boom. But who's listening?

Tinubu — let's just call him, Tinny — began by cutting electricity to Niger - which appalled many Nigerians in the border regions with tribal connections across the Niger. Family matters aside — it's also a treaty violation since the electricity is supplied by a dam built on the Niger River as a result of an agreement with Niger. Not that it really means much to a country where over 90% of people are not on the grid anyway although their uranium keeps the air conditioning running in France.

Now Tinny says it is "activating" its "standby force" for war. And "D Day" has been decided. Of course, Burkina Faso and Mali previously declared an attack on Niger would mean war with them.

Remember Poland 1939?

Can one trust Tinny's pronouncements?

He is not the most honest of people. According to the Grayzone he spent many years laundering cash for Chicago heroin dealers and has otherwise been involved in all kinds of corruption scandals. Now it seems he launders money for the Washington Cartel.

After two years Trump returns to Twitter

Former President Donald Trump returned to Twitter for the first time in two years following his surrender to the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday.

Trump arrived at Fulton County Jail late Thursday where he was fingerprinted and got his first mug shot taken. He has until Aug. 25 to surrender to the jail in relation to allegedly overturning the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The tweet included a photograph of his mugshot and labeled his arrest as election interference.

Comment: From the Gateway Pundit:
Trump's interview with Tucker has now been seen over 250 million times, far more than Fox, who got a mediocre 12.8 million viewers for their debate which President Trump wisely did not attend.

President Trump continues to own the internet after his arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, on Thursday.

Trump has been soaring in the polls recently and dominating the news cycles. The day after breaking the internet in a viral interview with Tucker Carlson, which premiered during the first GOP presidential debate; all the news networks are talking about Trump's political persecution; and he is fundraising with historic new merchandise!

Trump's interview with Tucker has now been seen over 250 million times, far more than Fox, who got a mediocre 12.8 million viewers for their debate which President Trump wisely did not attend.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump returned to X, formerly known as Twitter, last night after he turned himself in at the Fulton County jail.

Trump tweeted his mugshot with a caption that read: "ELECTION INTERFERENCE - NEVER SURRENDER! - DONALDTRUMP.COM"

In nine hours overnight, the post had been viewed over 100 million times and is approaching 1 million likes.

This is far more views than Joe Biden or the White House get on any of their 10 best tweets combined.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump returned to X, formerly known as Twitter, last night after he turned himself in at the Fulton County jail.

And Trump has again shown himself as a master of marketing. The idiot Democrats have just doubled Trump's legal defense fund:
Shortly after the Fulton County's Sheriff's Office released the mugshot on Thursday, marking the first time such a picture has been taken of a former or sitting US president, Donald Trump Jr. posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) announcing new t-shirts, mugs, and posters featuring the former US president's mugshot along with bold red and white text reading 'Free Trump'.

A t-shirt costs $29.99, a mug is being sold for $15.99, and a mugshot poster is priced at $19.99. The former president's son pointed out, however, that all the proceeds from the merchandise sales would go to the Legal Defense Fund "to fight the tyranny & insanity we're seeing before us."

"Unlike many, I won't try to profit from this but will do what I can to help," Trump Jr. wrote.

Knives out for Vivek at the Republican debate

Vivek Ramaswamy
© Mustafa HussainRepublican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in the media spin room after the first debate of the GOP primary season.
Heading into Wednesday night's GOP presidential debate, 55 percent of Republican voters were backing Donald Trump, who didn't even bother to show up. So why did millions of viewers tune in?

Simple. To find out if any of the other eight Republicans who made it onto the debate stage has a chance of unseating him.

One way to judge the answer was to spend five minutes in the spin room with the press gaggle after the two-hour debate. Former and current governors were ignored. A staffer for one of those campaigns tried to offer an interview to a CNN reporter, who politely declined: "Sorry, they really want Vivek."

And immediately, when the man himself walked out, he was mobbed. Only a few months ago, most of this crowd didn't know his name, but now they were screaming it at full volume.

"Vivek, what's your takeaway?!"

Comment: Looks like Ramaswamy's the winner here. Question still remains whether he walks the talk or he's just another Obama 2.0....

Scott Ritter: Ukraine will 'capitulate unconditionally'

President Vladimir Zelensky should recall how World War II ended for Japan, the former US intelligence officer says

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine will conclude with Kiev's unconditional surrender, according to Scott Ritter, a former US intelligence officer and UN weapons inspector.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that "Ukraine does not trade its territories, because we do not trade our people."

The message was dedicated to the Third Crimea Platform Summit, where Ukraine discussed ways of "de-occupying" the peninsula, which reunited with Russia in 2014 following a referendum triggered by the US-backed Maidan coup in Kiev earlier that year.

Replying to Zelensky's post, Ritter wrote that "it was NATO that suggested a trade. Russia isn't trading anything."

Comment: The end may not be very near yet for Ukraine, but it is beginning to look inevitable.

Best of the Web: The West's attempt to create a Ukrainian scenario in Niger is faltering - Timofey Bordachev, Valdai Club Director

ecowas
FILE PHOTO: Biden's little chat with Tinubu says a lot about the realities of what is going to happen and what can happen on the ground.
The development of the situation surrounding the possible invasion of Niger by the troops of certain countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is remarkably reminiscent of the discussions that took place on the eve of this summer's Ukrainian "counter-offensive."

The West's African states are in no hurry to embark on a risky adventure. Meanwhile, the US and its Western European allies are urging them to do so. Just as they have been pushing the Ukrainian military to attack fortified Russian positions throughout the spring of 2023.

But there is a significant difference. In the case of Ukraine, we are dealing with a regime that is pursuing a murderous policy towards the territory under its control. African leaders, on the other hand, are not at all willing to take risks for the interests of France and the United States. Therefore, what was a tragedy in Ukraine may turn out to be a farce in West Africa, with the end result being an amicable agreement between all parties concerned.

US & Ukraine 'at odds' over counteroffensive tactics reports WSJ, top EU general admits Russia 'clearly superior to Ukraine'

American officials are "frustrated" with Ukraine's reluctance to accept their advice on how to conduct the counteroffensive against Russian forces, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The newspaper claimed it was still "not too late" for Kiev to follow instructions from Washington, and to utilize the training that tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops have received from NATO nations. The outlet noted, however, that the two sides are still "at odds about how to turn the tables on the Russians" before winter sets in.

Comment: Ukraine isn't losing because Kiev isn't following tactic advice from Washington, it's losing because, as noted in the article below, Russia has a far superior military; which is also why the US hasn't tried to take them on themselves and has instead used Ukrainians.

According to the WSJ's sources, the US believes that the amount of Western military aid sent to Ukraine is enough to breach Russian defenses, although the window of opportunity is closing.

Kiev's ability to reconquer territories is 'questionable' - top EU general

Ukraine might not be able to achieve its goals in the conflict with Russia, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee General Robert Brieger admitted to German daily Die Welt daily on Thursday. Moscow possesses vastly superior weapons and personnel reserves and can continue fighting for a long time despite Western sanctions, Brieger warned.

The Ukrainian counteroffensive launched more than two months ago "has not gained any ground yet," he said, before urging "caution" about expecting any breakthroughs in the future.

"The number of brigades available to Kiev for the offensive is limited," he told the newspaper, adding that the Russian forces had built "well-secured defense lines" in the months before the Ukrainian operation.

The Austrian general, who chairs the meetings of the chiefs of staff from all 27 EU members and serves as an adviser to the bloc's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, believes that the conflict between the two sides has come down to a "war of attrition."
General Robert Brieger

Under such circumstances, Moscow has some visible advantages over Kiev, Brieger said. "Russia has a very large number of weapons and a huge reserve of potential troops," he explained, adding that "in this regard, Russia is clearly superior to Ukraine."

The sanctions imposed by the West against Russia over its continued military campaign in Ukraine have also barely impacted Moscow's ability to continue the fight, the general noted. "I am convinced that Russia can continue the war in Ukraine for a very long time," he said.

Kiev's ability to recapture all the territories it considers part of Ukrainian territory "remains questionable," Brieger said. The general also said he does not expect the EU to let Ukraine join the bloc before the conflict ends and a peaceful solution is found.

Even after that, Ukraine's membership might pose additional security risks for the EU, Brieger believes. The general said that territorial disputes with Moscow could remain even after the end of the fighting. In the future, if another conflict breaks out, the bloc would have to defend Ukraine under Article 42.7 of the EU treaty if it becomes a member state, he added.

"As soon as Ukraine joins the European Union, this would mean completely new obligations for the EU in terms of security policy," Brieger said, adding that the organization "would be challenged much more than before."

PM of Estonia's husband co-owns firm still trading in Russia, despite PM's staunch support for EU's sanctions

Estonian President Alar Karis has demanded explanations from the Baltic state's prime minister, Kaja Kallas, after local media reports claimed that her husband was doing business with Russia despite EU sanctions imposed over the Ukraine conflict.

On Wednesday, the broadcaster ERR reported that transport firm Stark Logistics, which is partially owned by Kallas' husband Arvo Hallik, continued moving some cargo in and out of Russia after the fighting between Moscow and Kiev broke out in February 2022. The company's CEO Kristjan Kraag told the outlet that it had redirected most of its activities to Poland and Scandinavia during the conflict, but acknowledged that a small number of hauls to Russia still took place.

In an interview with ERR on Thursday morning, Karis said that Estonian "society is waiting for explanations from the prime minister today" regarding the situation.

Central Asia is the prime battlefield in the New Great Game

eurasia

The historical Heartland - or Central Eurasia - already is, and will continue to be, the prime battlefield in the New Great Game, fought between the United States and the China-Russia strategic partnership.

The original Great Game pitted the British and Russian empires in the late 19th century, and in fact, never got away: it just metastasized into the US-UK entente versus the USSR, and, subsequently, the US-EU versus Russia.

According to the Mackinder-designed geopolitical game conceptualized by imperial Britain back in 1904, The Heartland is the proverbial "pivot of History," and its re-energized 21st century historical role is as relevant as in centuries ago: a key driver of emerging multipolarity.

So it's no wonder all major powers are at work in the Heartland/Central Eurasia: China, Russia, US, EU, India, Iran, Turkiye, and to a lesser extent, Japan. Four out of five Central Asian "stans" are full members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO): Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. And some, like Kazakhstan, may soon become members of BRICS+.

As Hunter Biden struggled with Burisma fallout, his father moved to fire prosecutor probing firm

Memos show parallel tracks between father, son on a corruption issue that would eventually ensnare Ukraine, the U.S. and two American presidents.

While most Americans were preparing for the November 2015 Thanksgiving holiday, top policy advisers to Joe Biden were scurrying to put the finishing touches on the then-vice president's upcoming trip to Kyiv where he planned to deliver a momentous shock to the U.S.-Ukraine relationship.

Just a month earlier, a task force of top State, Treasury and Justice Department officials had decided that Ukraine and its new top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, had made enough progress on anti-corruption reforms for the country to receive a new $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee.

They drafted a term sheet for the delivery of the new aid to then-President Poroshenko during Biden's December 2015 trip to Ukraine, and were making plans to invite Shokin's top staff to Washington in January for a high-level meeting. Shokin himself even got a letter from the State Department declaring it was "impressed" with his reform efforts.

But the vice president and his top advisers on Ukraine, including then-Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, had a very different plan that began unfolding that Thanksgiving holiday week. In fact, it was an about-face when it came to Shokin's plight, according to two "goals and objectives" memos drafted four days before Thanksgiving on Nov. 22, 2015 and obtained by Just the News.
