Hive, the latest batch of WikiLeaks documents exposing alleged CIA hacking techniques from 'Vault 7', details how the agency can monitor its targets through the use of malware and carry out specific tasks on targeted machines.

Described as a multi-platform malware suite, Hive provides "customisable implants" for Windows, Solaris, MikroTik (used in Internet routers), Linux platforms, and AVTech Network Video Recorders, used for CCTV recording. Such implants allow the CIA to communicate specific commands.

The US cruise missile attack on Syria was an act of international aggression, Russia, Syria and Iran have stated after a meeting of their foreign ministers in Moscow.

"We have reiterated our position and were united in stating that the attack was an act of aggression, which blatantly violated the principles of international law and the UN Charter," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"We call on the US and its allies to respect Syria's sovereignty and refrain from actions similar to what happened on April 7, and which have serious ramification not only for regional, but also global security," he added.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has officially confirmed to RT that Russia won't be participating in the 2017 Eurovision song contest in Kiev after the country's contender, Yulia Samoylova, was denied entry into Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Security Service banned wheelchair bound Samoylova from entering the country for three years over her performance in Crimea in 2015 which Kiev deemed illegal.

Earlier on Thursday, Russia's Channel One announced that it won't be broadcasting the 2017 Eurovision contest in the absence of the country's competitor.

Comment: With their recent history of blatant Russophobia it's no wonder Russia is refusing to attend:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has responded to the Dortmund attack by criticizing North Rhine-Westphalia for not conducting random police checks. She went on to admit that not all refugees are "respectable," as some are on the radar of security agencies.

In an interview with German publishing group Funke Mediengruppe, Merkel said there are "unfortunately very different levels of laws in individual states."

She went on to state the importance of all German states working to reach the same security level, specifically noting that "North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, practices, regrettably, no random police checks."

Fake News? Bloomberg reports 'McMaster wants up to 50,000 troops to invade Syria'

McMaster and Trump
Trump's biggest foreign policy surprise (and global nightmare) may be yet to come.

We are in the early stages of what may be a massive uptick in violence in Syria, as Trump's national security adviser, General H.R. McMaster, is plotting a George W. Bush style invasion of Syria.

In an article published on Bloomberg by By Eli Lake entitled, "Trump Said No to Troops in Syria. His Aides Aren't So Sure", it appears that anti-war voices like Steve Bannon have now been replaced with pro-war hawks like McMaster...and Trump is firmly in the grips of the war camp.

Comment: Anonymous sources report McMaster wants '50,000 troops in Syria'. Is this just another way to put pressure on Trump?

The US just spent $314 million to destroy the Islamic terrorist cave complex which the CIA built with help from Bin Laden

The media is awash with enthusiastic reports that the US military has employed the largest conventional bomb ever designed, the Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb or "MOAB" (18,000 lbs. of explosive, 22,000 lbs. total weight) on a cave-bunker complex in near Tora Bora in Afghanistan - the same place Osama bin Laden was supposedly hiding not long after 9-11.

The US says the complex was being used by ISIS.

Here's the Commander-in-chief of the Beautiful Piece of Chocolate Cake School of Foreign Policy, expanding on his next move regarding North Korea.

"We are sending an armada. Very powerful. We have submarines. Very powerful. Far more powerful than the aircraft carrier. That I can tell you."

As if bombing nuclear-armed North Korea would be as much of a piece of cake as Tomahawking a semi-deserted air base in Syria. But then, that's the beauty of a box of chocolates foreign policy; you never know what you're gonna get.

Best of the Web: The Origins and Ultimate Purpose of ISIS: A Brief History of the US-Middle East Proxy War

Origins of ISIS
This is a 5-part report which attempts to detail a history of the rise of ISIS and to explain its true relations to the actors involved in the war theatre. It attempts to show how and why ISIS has been exploited while attempting to answer the question: what has been the groups' ultimate purpose in relation to the dominant powers manipulating the proxy conflict. Then, given what is known historically, it hopes to shed light on what the motivations are behind the current actions against the group and what purpose they serve.

ISIS is Born in Iraq

The origins of ISIS are buried beneath the rubble of the US occupation.

It was out of this crucible of war and invasion that the original grievances were born, leading analysts to conclude that "the basic causes of the birth of ISIS" were the United States' "destructive interventions in the Middle East and the war in Iraq."1

The framework underlying this being the exacerbation of Sunni-Shia tensions in the aftermath of the invasion, which previously have been inflamed through various other foreign interferences. These were highlighted by the sectarian brutality of the post-invasion Iraqi government, which then continued under Maliki later on. Given this, some have concluded that Saddam had simply been replaced by another "repressive and murderous authoritarian state, albeit under a more representative sectarian set up."2

Japan has scrambled a record number of jets over the course of the last 12 months - 295 more than the previous year - mainly due to increased activity of Chinese military aircraft, a top Japanese commander said.

"Recently, we have seen Chinese military aircraft operating further south and that is bringing them closer to the main Okinawa island and other parts of the island chain," Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Japan's chief of staff, said at a briefing in Tokyo on Thursday.

According to the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, jets were scrambled on 1,168 occasions in the fiscal year to March 31, with 73 percent of the flights carried out against aircraft known or believed to be Chinese.

President Bashar al-Assad clarifies Syria's current position vis-a-vis the United States.

1. Russia Did Not Have Time to Warn

When Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was asked if he had prior warning from Russia that the US was about to attack he said that he did not,
"No, they (Russia) didn't warn us because they didn't have the time to warn, because the Americans called them maybe a few minutes before the launching, or some say after the launching, because it takes time to reach the base. But actually, we had indications that there was something that was going to happen, and we took many measures in that regard".

Comment: Assad and Putin continue to show patience, restraint and continued willingness to work toward combating the spread of terrorism, which is a far cry from the insistent belligerence and warmongering coming from the West.
