The embassy also announced that "all nonimmigrant visa operations across Russia will be suspended starting August 23."

"Visa operations at the U.S. consulates will remain suspended indefinitely," the US mission stated, adding that they will resume at the embassy in Moscow on September 1.

Our newspapers and politicians are fanning the flames of fascism and violence

Bernard Kenny Jo Cox

We mourn a brave hero like Bernard Kenny, while the rightwing racists boldly rise. Blame those marching in Charlottesville, but look to the real perpetrators

They pour the petrol and then wonder why it burns. Fascism is on the rise in the west, and it is emboldened, legitimised and fuelled by "mainstream" politicians and newspapers. When we mourn a hero like Bernard Kenny - who courageously tried to stop a fascist terrorist murdering Jo Cox - we have to ask ourselves: who are those with power and influence who helped create the conditions in which racists and fascists breed?

"Cannot believe we're seeing Nazi salutes in 21st century America," tweets Nigel Farage about Charlottesville, dragging a can of petrol behind him. Perhaps next the chief executive of a fast-food company will express disbelief at levels of obesity; or a tobacco company will issue a press release spluttering about lung cancer deaths. Farage: the man who stood, arms outstretched, in front of a poster featuring dark-skinned refugees and the words "Breaking Point". Farage: the man who expressed his "concern" at having Romanians move in next door, and made apocalyptic warnings of Romanians and Bulgarians flooding Britain. Farage: the man who cheered on the ascendancy of Donald Trump, a US president whose most fervent supporters are now triumphantly chanting "Heil Trump!" as they menace minorities and progressives.

84 Palestinians 'administratively detained' without charge by Israel

Israel has issued 84 detention orders against Palestinians as part of its administrative detention policy without carrying out trials or filing charges, local media reported Sunday.

Wafa news agency reported, citing the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS), that 38 of the detention orders were renewed while the other orders were newly issued.

rIsrael has been widely using its administrative detention policy against Palestinians. The practice allows the authorities to issue detention orders for renewable intervals on the basis of classified evidence which is not disclosed even to the detainees' lawyers. This practice has been repeatedly criticized by international organizations, including the United Nations and human rights watchdogs as a violation of civil and political rights.

The are over 700 Palestinian administrative detainees currently held in Israel, according to figures provided by the European Union.

Americans didn't elect Donald Trump to expand foreign military intervention

US President Donald Trump is finding his campaign promises increasingly difficult to fulfill, but his leaning towards military interventionism could be the most fundamental breach of trust for his Rust Belt supporters.

Across the globe, we see potential new Trump foreign military actions or the expansion of old ones. The US leader recently made threats of US military action in Venezuela and North Korea (of the nuclear variety), US operations in Syria were ratcheted up and there has been pressure from his advisers to expand rather than scale back US operations in Afghanistan.

It wasn't supposed to be this way.

The latest sacked apparatchik to emerge blinking into the light from the bunker of Trump's White House, Steve Bannon, admitted on Friday that the Trump Presidency was 'over'. And Trump's former chief strategist was no ordinary adviser. Bannon most ably articulated what Trump and his supporters stood for.

"Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts." - Ambassador Londo Mollari - Babylon 5

Something is up in the White House and it isn't just the heat being applied to Donald Trump in the wake of the latest gaslighting incident known now as "Charlottesville." Earlier today, Halsey English ripped off a quick note about White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon's dismissal being the beginning of something bigger.

The basic thesis? Trump loyalist Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) is coming back from meeting with Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, with information that Rohrabacher feels may be worthy of a presidential pardon. This is the first time anyone from the U.S. government has met with Assange in his five-year asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. You know they didn't just discuss getting Wikileaks a White House press pass.

By Bannon leaving the White House, it puts him in the right place to do the most damage to the people Trump is about to go on the offensive against, Breitbart. By being out of the White House Bannon can securely push the information out through Breitbart without worrying about leaks from the inside.

What could that information be? Only an heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots doesn't already know what that is. It's the smoking gun that ties together the whole sordid L'affair Seth Rich - "His name was Seth Rich" - and everyone who's involved in it. And that, by extension, will unmask the entire "Russia-Gate" accusations as the fever dream of a cornered and frightened DNC leadership, including Lady Macbeth herself, Hillary Clinton. Remember, Hilly was caught on tape saying, "If that F$#&ing bastard wins, we're all going to hang from nooses" in the wake of the Matt Lauer interview last year.

If we look at the sheer insanity surrounding Donald Trump at this point it's clear that his enemies are both scared to death and angling in for the kill.

Comment: The evolution of the Trump administration is clearly the survival of the fittest and the repurposing of the capable.

Erdogan attacks German FM: 'Who are you? Know your limits!'

Recep Erdogan has told Germany's FM to "know his limits" after Sigmar Gabriel accused the Turkish president of interfering in the his country's upcoming elections. Erdogan once again urged German based Turks not to vote for the ruling coalition.

Comment: Erdogan, with notable control issues, is not too keen on restraint himself.

On Saturday, Erdogan once again urged nearly 3 million German Turks not to cast their vote for Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats, Martin Schulz's Social Democrat Party (SDP) or the Green Party in the upcoming German federal election on September 24 because of the alleged anti-Turkish stance of the parties.

"You should give them the most beautiful lesson by providing your democratic right... You should vote for those who are not hostile to Turkey," Erdogan said Saturday, the Hurriyet daily news reported. The message echoed Erdogan's statement made on Friday to a live television audience when he first called on Turks in Germany not to vote for the "enemies of Turkey."

Erdogan's comments sparked a strong reaction from Gabriel who accused Ankara of election interference. "That is an unprecedented act of interference in the sovereignty of our country," Gabriel told the RedaktionsNetzwerk media group, adding: "Erdogan's interference in Germany's electoral campaign shows that he wants to incite people in Germany against each other."

Erdogan lashed out against Gabriel Saturday, telling the German diplomat to "know his limits." "Now they have a foreign minister who does not know his limits. Who are you to talk to the President of Turkey? Talk to the Foreign Minister of Turkey. Know your limits. He is trying to teach us a lesson. What is your background in politics? How old are you?" Erdogan bellowed at his Justice and Development Party's (AKP) provincial advisory council meeting in the Aegean province of Denizli.

Leaked UN report may give cause to blacklist Saudi Arabia over child deaths in Yemen

Saudi-led coalition strikes have resulted in hundreds of Yemeni children being killed or maimed, a leaked UN report has said. The paper also urges that Riyadh and its allies be added to a black list of countries violating children's rights.

The confidential draft, which is yet to be presented by the UN Secretary-General but seen by Reuters and Foreign Policy (FP) magazine, alleges that Saudi forces and their Gulf allies were complicit in more than half of the deaths and injuries of children in Yemen last year.

"The killing and maiming of children remained the most prevalent violation" of children's rights in Yemen, the 41-page paper says, as cited by FP. "In the reporting period, attacks carried out by air were the cause of over half of all child casualties, with at least 349 children killed and 333 children injured."

The report, which is expected to be released next month, still requires the endorsement from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. It was reportedly drafted by Guterres' special envoy for children and armed conflict, Virginia Gamba, acting on a request from the UN Security Council.

Citing "well-placed sources," FP said Gamba notified high-ranking UN officials that she suggested the coalition - comprising Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Sudan and the UAE - be included in a black list of rogue countries responsible for killing and maiming children.

Similar attempts to put Riyadh on the rogue list failed last year, when then Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon caved in to Saudi Arabia's threats to cut millions international aid funds. The Saudis further threatened to initiate a walk-out by Arab countries from the UN.

This time, however, the US pressured the UN over the proposed move, urging the global organization to single out specific countries complicit in atrocities, FP reports. Gamba told the publication the report still needs to be finalized, adding that she was unaware of US pressure. "None of what you indicate has reached me," the official said.

Comment: Nothing has changed here except the list of the dead becomes longer each day. The UN remains ineffective and it is evident the Saudi coalition has no interest in minimizing collateral damage.

Satire: Kurt Volker's "Tank Tales"

A Review of Kurt Volker's "Tank Tales" by Gordon M. Hahn

A new children's book is out written by the Trump administration's special envoy to Ukraine and former US ambassador to NATO, Kurt Volker. His magical collection of fairy tales, titled "Tank Tales," makes wonderful bed-time reading not just for children but also for parents, especially those with a keen sense of humor and employment in the defense industry, journalism, or the think tank milieu. Mr. Volker introduced his new volume during his trip to Ukraine last week, as he also called for the US to deploy "lethal defensive weapons" to Ukraine as is being proposed by Mr. Volker's 'publisher' and 'literary agent' - the US Departments of Defense and State, respectively.

One of the volume's most imaginative short tales is Edgeland and the Seven Thousand Fire-Horses of Magog (originally published by NATO in Ukrainian and translatable as Seven Thousand Russian Tanks Inside Ukraine). The Edgeland-Magog story is enchanting and comes with a moral. The tale begins with two very different lands that are neighbors: the evil empire of Magog, dark, cold and dank all year long, and the beautiful frontier country of Edgeland, with its golden plains, eternally blue skies, and river waters that taste like wine.

But after centuries of living together in relative peace, these two lands began to fall into war because of evil Magog's 'bad behavior'. A good wizard from a land called Usa - oddly named after the author himself, Kurt Volker - claims that there are more Magogian fire-horses in Edgeland than there are on all the lands of its gigantic, if feeble-spirited friend-country, Yuropa. Fire-horses are deadly weapons that spew fire and smoke from a long thin cannon while galloping at speeds of 30mph or more.

Comment: Volker's tale would have benefitted by facts, but in make believe -- which is how the world is run lately -- anything can happen. Who needs the facts.

Trump's language to describe Charlottesville was correct, MSM got it wrong

Trump slander
Donald Trump should not be forced to name and shame the alt-right, he ought to be urged to show tact instead of slandering Islam and Muslims.

Of the many peculiar things surrounding Donald Trump's initial statement made on the day of violence in the Virginia town of Charlottesville, the lack of dispassion on the part of allegedly neutral observers is quite striking.

While many are debating over whether Trump has a preference of the so-called alt-right over the so-called alt-left, something that ought to be discussed is being left out. One ought to consider that this entire 'scandal' is due to how the mainstream mass media shapes the meaning of a speech, statement or phrase and how due to the sheer ability to proliferate the marketplace, even those opposed to the MSM (on both left and right) often fail to do anything but accept the initial MSM interpretation. From there, the wider public simply asks if Trump was right or wrong based on this interpretation.

Trump and Melania to skip Kennedy Center honors in December amid boycotts

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will skip this year's Kennedy Center Honors after two of the five honorees announced plans to boycott the ceremony and traditional White House reception.

"The President and First Lady have decided not to participate in this year's activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement released Saturday morning.

"First Lady Melania Trump, along with her husband President Donald J. Trump, extend their sincerest congratulations and well wishes to all of this year's award recipients for their many accomplishments," she added.

Since Trump has come under fire for his response to the deadly rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, two of this year's honorees - TV producer Norman Lear and dancer Carmen de Lavallade - announced they would boycott the White House event scheduled for this December.

Singer Lionel Richie indicated that he might also boycott the event, rapper LL Cool J has not indicated if he would attend, while singer Gloria Estefan said she would attend to try to lobby the president on immigration issues.

The awards program, honoring Americans who have made substantial contributions to the arts, is still scheduled to take place on Dec. 3 and will be broadcast on CBS on Dec. 26.

Comment: The right choice on the Trumps' part. Somewhat hallucinatory motivations on the part of Lear and de Lavallade. The hysteria continues! See: Behind the Headlines: Charlottesville Mass Hysteria Bubble, Terror Strikes Barcelona
