Mueller team digs in for challenges to his authority

© Alex Wong/Getty ImagesIn the Robert Mueller investigation, the probe itself may be ripe for legal questions.
The special counsel has won some early court victories in the Russia investigation, but with charges filed defense attorneys and others are lining up to rein in the probe.

Robert Mueller is on an early winning streak.

Stacked with some of the country's premier prosecutors, the special counsel has beaten back a pair of preliminary attempts to block his subpoena power and limit who he can question as a potential witness. In July, Mueller's team also managed to win approval to execute a no-knock search warrant - unusual in a white-collar case.

But as the criminal case against former Donald Trump campaign officials Paul Manafort and Rick Gates speeds toward a possible spring 2018 trial, Mueller's team is bracing for an array of challenges to its authority.

The battle lines are already taking shape.

Comment: Despite early gains, Mueller may overreach himself in the long run. The outcome will prove a test of the integrity of the justice system. Time will tell.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: U.S. Republic Goes Bananas: Rats Fleeing the Sinking Ship as U.S. Democracy Unravels

USA banana republic
Hillary Clinton has been officially outed as having rigged the Democratic primary so that she would win. She was therefore ineligible as a presidential candidate, yet the deep state media continues to cover this up and insists on focusing on the "Russia collusion" non-story. The situation is so farcical that it's fair to say that today American politics bears more similarity to that of a banana republic than the 'world's greatest democracy'.

Their attacks on RT and Sputnik are absurd; the accusations pale in comparison to what U.S. propaganda networks like RFE/RL are on record as doing. Their witch-hunt on social media ads from "Russia-connected accounts" is utterly paranoid. Day after day, the emptiness continues to be poured into the void while the Russiagate narrative tears itself apart at the seams.

The US political system looks like THE most corrupt and undemocratic political systems in the world. It's worse even than dictatorships. At least with a dictator no one is being fooled. In the USA, the totalitarian 'elite' have been fooling Americans for decades.

Tune in to Behind the Headlines at 6-8pm CET (4-6pm UTC / 12-2pm EST), as we discuss the latest in the Russiagate/Clintongate tragicomic farce, among other breaking news from this last week.

Another DNC blame game: The bizzaro world of Donna Brazile and the Russian imbroglio

hillary and donna brazile
Waking up to Donna Brazile's cathartic Politico story at first glance was a moment to cheer but after reading the entire story & especially the last two paragraphs as well as Donna's supposedly tearful cries and promises to Bernie (ROTFLMAO), it became very clear this was nothing more than an attempt to sway Bernie's supporters to come back to the Democratic Party. What was even more laughable was that she Ms. 'Ethical' Brazile, was heartbroken when she learned of all that Hillary and DNC had done and were doing to undermine the will of the people.
donna brazile DNC takeover
The above quote from Donna Brazile would be heartwarming if it weren't so insulting and laughable. Donna was just appointed to the DNC's Board of Ethics, that alone was an insult to anyone with a brain. Tom Perez (DNC Chair) also removed all of Bernie Sanders' supporters from the committee. Donna was caught after LYING repeatedly, having given debate questions to Hillary Clinton but nowhere in her exorcism did she acknowledge her own role in elevating Hillary.

Spies for Germany: Berlin budgets $400M for its own spy satellites in move toward independence from decisions of CIA and NATO

"German budget committee approves 400 million for three spy satellites"
Echoes of the spy scandals: satellites will help Germany's Intel Independence from the US

Berlin. Germany has budgeted 400 million euros for the purchase of three spy satellites for the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany. This, military expert Boris Rozhin advises, is a signal to the United States that German intelligence would like to achieve greater independent precision, partly coming out from under the hood of the American special services.

The German Bundestag Committee on Budget approved the allocation of 400 million euros for the purchase of three spy satellites for the Federal Intelligence Service. As stated in the text of the document, via the German media, German intelligence should be able to quickly and independently get the information needed to compile independent and relevant situational reports.

Comment: More indications that Germany sees the the writing on the wall - it's time to extricate itself from the influence of the empire of chaos, turning to those who see the benefits mutual cooperation:

Red Flag

Russian Communist Party upset that Kremlin isn't celebrating centenary of 1917 revolution

russian revolution centenary
The Russian Communist Party has accused the Kremlin of deliberately distracting public attention from the upcoming centenary of the Bolshevik revolution. The Communists said less than a third of the general public are aware of the approaching centenary.

The party released a report, titled 'One hundred years later. Non-forgotten revolution,' referring to a nationwide public opinion poll conducted in September. According to the survey, 58 percent of Russians are not aware of the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, 29 percent know about the planned ceremonies to mark the event, and 9 percent have heard something about it, but could not remember any details. The rest either refused to answer or said that they were not interested in the topic as a whole.

Comment: Most interesting.

The Kremlin is not against marking the occasion, but is not particularly keen about it either.

Either way, the Russian govt can hardly be accused of censoring the event altogether: RT has been running a superb interactive information campaign about the revolution all year long.

The waxing and waning of an empire

Never before has history been witness to an empire waxing even before its soon-to-be predecessor has fully waned

We are passing through a unique period in human history. The aftermath of World War-II saw the emergence of a bi-polar world and with this the introduction of such concepts as the Cold War era; which produced both proxy wars and lessons in the insecurities that this new world order brought with it. Fast-forward a little and we saw one global empire imploding, thereby revealing the immense hubris of those who found themselves alone in ruling the world.

Since time immemorial have empires, upon reaching their zenith, begun to wane; as others begin to rise up ready to replace them. However, never has history been witness to an empire waxing even before its soon-to-be predecessor has fully waned. Yet that is exactly what is happening with a China in ascendency and a US in decline.

Poll: 95% of Iranians do not trust the US Empire

Iran America USA
An opinion poll conducted by the Afkar Iranian Center has found that 94.5 percent of Iranians do not trust the United States which has had no diplomatic relations with Tehran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The survey was conducted from October 7 to 13 among 863 adults across Iran's provincial capitals, the Tasnim news agency explained.

60.6% of Iranians do not trust the US "at all," 21.3% have very low trust in the country, and 12.5% trust Washington "to a certain extent," the survey found. More than 23 percent of the respondents in the survey said they did not have hope in the agreement's future, 27 percent chose the "little or very little" hope choice, and 29 percent said they were hopeful of the deal's outlook "to some extent."

Comment: Iranians have good reason to not trust the United States. This level of distrust is not due to mere governmental propaganda (as is the case in with American attitudes toward Iran); it has been fostered through first-hand experience. Iran has been subject to US designed coups, covert attacks, and sanctions for decades and suffered greatly as a result. The US relationship with Iran represents the great flaws of the Global Empire and signals its inevitable conclusion. All you have to do is look at the history of the British Empire and see its results. However, the difference today is the US does not have a protege to whom it can hand over the reigns. As such, the entire Western system is in a much more precarious position.

Brazile claims she feared retribution from shadowy elements within DNC following email leaks and death of Seth Rich

Perhaps the most shocking revelation contained in the excerpts from former DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile's book was, unsurprisingly, buried in a Washington Post overview of the various allegations (and frankly, we're surprised the Post, given its status as a protector of the Washington establishment, deigned to publish it).

In the aftermath of Wikileaks' decision to publish a cache of emails stolen from the DNC's servers, Donna Brazile says she became increasingly paranoid about both possible Russian efforts to sway the election. Surprisingly, she says top Democrats initially instructed her not to discuss her concerns with others.

Comment: Rich was also one of the people to whom she dedicated her book. From an interview with ABC on Sunday:
She told the host about her critics: "They don't know what it was like to be over the DNC during this hacking. They don't know what it's like to bury a child. I did: Seth Rich."

Brazile had spoken publicly about Rich's death before. In March, she said she was going to an Omaha, Nebraska, synagogue to speak about him. In May, she tweeted, "Seth Rich was a hard worker and proud to be an American. This desire to scar Seth's legacy to his country and party is shameful." About two months later, after Fox News published a since debunked story about the case, she tweeted, "Seth was a good soul and look at this shameful act."

Through spokesman Brad Bauman, the Rich family said in a statement, "Since Seth was murdered, Donna Brazile has been a great friend to the Rich family and has been extremely supportive of the family's efforts to find Seth's killers."

Senator McConnell: Facebook, Google could help US 'retaliate' against Russia and other nations

Days after tech giants Facebook, Twitter, and Google were grilled on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US election, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has suggested using the companies to attack other nations.

On Tuesday, senior executives from the trio of major tech firms went before the US Congress to discuss an alleged 'disinformation' campaign supposedly designed to influence the election.

Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has since suggested that social media and other internet services could provide the US with an opportunity to "retaliate" against adversaries such as Russia.

Speaking to MSNBC, McConnell expressed his disappointment that key figures like Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had not provided answers at Tuesday's hearing.

He then mooted the idea of weaponizing their services. Big tech could be used, he said, to "retaliate" against Russia, whose government has repeatedly denied any allegations of attempts to influence US voters.

Comment: So the "balance" will lean more towards national security to stomp on the First Amendment while using social media to expand the propaganda machine. The snakes-in-suits have to control the message and not allow free thought.
