A Harvey Weinstein moment for America's wars?

predator drone
It's been going on for so many years -- Predators cruising, looking for their prey. Some attention has since been paid to the phenomenon and to the devastating effect their actions have had on their victims, but it hasn't really mattered. The predation has only spread.

Oh, before I go any further, let me clear up one possible bit of confusion. I'm not talking about Charlie Rose, Roy Moore, Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, or any of that crew of predators. I'm talking about America's robotic killers, the drones that long ago were grimly named Predators (retired this year) and their more advanced cousins, the Reapers (as in Grim...), who have taken a once-illegal American activity, political assassination, and made it the well-respected law of the land and increasingly of huge swaths of the globe.

In these years of predation, the president -- any president -- has become an assassin-in-chief. George W. Bush began the process with 50 drone strikes in the Greater Middle East during his years in office. Barack Obama multiplied those numbers tenfold. He even had his own White House "kill list" and "terror Tuesday" meetings to decide just who should be on it. Donald Trump has simply given the U.S. military and the CIA license to send those drones wherever they please. Such drone strikes are now commonplace from Yemen (almost a strike a day in the months after Trump entered the Oval Office) to Afghanistan (where the CIA has, for the first time, been given license to strike at will), Pakistan (where such strikes have recently intensified) to Somalia (23 of them in 2017), Iraq to... Niger (where U.S. surveillance drones are now being weaponized). In the process, across the Greater Middle East and parts of Africa, the U.S. has taken out not just terror suspects but civilians in significant numbers, including children and American citizens (two of whom were children). The drones, which terrorize the populations under them, have proven to be ferocious assassins, capable of crossing borders without a blink and without respect for national sovereignty, not to speak of remarkable recruitment tools for terror groups.

Pentagon somehow claims 'full credit' for defeating ISIS in Syria

The Pentagon has claimed all the credit for wiping out the vast majority of terrorists in Syria. It also challenged the Russian defense ministry's assertion that US fighter jets were actively interfering with Moscow's anti-terrorist operations in Syrian airspace.

On Wednesday, the Chief of the Russian General Staff declared "there's no territory controlled by ISIS," but only "some spots of resistance" left in Syria. A spokesman for the US-led Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) was quick to dismiss the Russian statement Saturday, claiming that IS (Islamic State, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists continue to operate in Deir ez-Zor province.

"Our carefully considered military assessment is that Daesh is still present on both sides of the Euphrates River, and therefore Coalition surgical strikes continue on the East Bank of the Middle Euphrates River Valley in support of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)," a CJTF-OIR representative told Sputnik.

Comment: Russia kicked ISIS' butt in Syria and has done everything to ensure a political transition from war to peace. What's the US done? Whine, complain, sabotage, and support the head-choppers. Now the Pentagon claims responsibility for everything Russia's done - what a bunch of morons.

Delusional Nikki Haley: US the only country with enough 'credibility' to mediate Israeli-Palestinian conflict

nikki haley israel
America's envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, has claimed that only the United States, and not the 14 other nations comprising the UN Security Council, has credibility when it comes to mediating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinians, however, see things very differently.

Haley was speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security Council Friday, convened at the request of eight of the fifteen countries making up the international body. The meeting followed President Donald Trump's decision to move the American embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, officially acknowledging the contested city as Israel's capital. The decision was unanimously condemned by all members of the Security Council - apart from the US, of course - for undermining the ongoing peace process.

"The UN has done much more to damage the prospects for Middle East peace than to advance them. We will not be a party to that. The United States no longer stands by when Israel is unfairly attacked in the United Nations. And the United States will not be lectured to by countries that lack any credibility when it comes to treating both Israelis and Palestinians fairly," Haley said at the assembly.

Merkel's allies reject 'United States of Europe' before crucial coalition talks

EU breakup european Union flag
Europe is not ready for a federal system, trusted allies of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) have said, rejecting a vision for the continent as proposed by Martin Schulz of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), a former coalition partner.

Germany plunged into crisis after the country's political forces failed to form a coalition following the September Bundestag election. SPD leader Martin Schulz, who had previously ruled out forming a coalition with the CDU, this week agreed to"open-ended" talks with Merkel's camp.

"We don't have to govern at any price, but we must not reject governing at all costs either," Schulz said Thursday, after CDU coalition negotiations with the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Greens collapsed.

After destroying US-backed ISIS forces in Syria, Vladimir Putin orders the withdrawal of Russian troops, and sends a warning

Syrian Christians Thank Russia
Syrian Christians express their gratitude to the Russian government and military for saving their country from US-backed jihadists
'If the terrorists again raise their heads, we will deal such blows to them they have never seen,' Russian leader says

Vladimir Putin has ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria, Moscow's state news agencies are reporting.

The Russian leader made the announcement at the Hemeimeem air base in Syria's coastal province of Latakia, the heartland of Syrian President Bashar Assad's Alawite minority.

Accompanied by defence minister Sergey Shoygu, Mr Putin said Russian and Syrian armies had achieved their mission to destroy Isis - "one of the most capable groups of international terrorists" - in just over two years.

U.S. media embarrasses itself over constant barrage of fake news, refuses to explain why they messed up

nbcnews
Friday was one of the most embarrassing days for the U.S. media in quite a long time. The humiliation orgy was kicked off by CNN, with MSNBC and CBS close behind, with countless pundits, commentators and operatives joining the party throughout the day. By the end of the day, it was clear that several of the nation's largest and most influential news outlets had spread an explosive but completely false news story to millions of people, while refusing to provide any explanation of how it happened.

The spectacle began on Friday morning at 11 a.m. EST, when the Most Trusted Name in News™ spent 12 straight minutes on air flamboyantly hyping an exclusive bombshell report that seemed to prove that WikiLeaks, last September, had secretly offered the Trump campaign, even Donald Trump himself, special access to the DNC emails before they were published on the internet. As CNN sees the world, this would prove collusion between the Trump family and WikiLeaks and, more importantly, between Trump and Russia, since the U.S. intelligence community regards WikiLeaks as an "arm of Russian intelligence," and therefore, so does the U.S. media.

This entire revelation was based on an email which CNN strongly implied it had exclusively obtained and had in its possession. The email was sent by someone named "Michael J. Erickson" - someone nobody had heard of previously and whom CNN could not identify - to Donald Trump, Jr., offering a decryption key and access to DNC emails that WikiLeaks had "uploaded." The email was a smoking gun, in CNN's extremely excited mind, because it was dated September 4 - 10 days before WikiLeaks began promoting access to those emails online - and thus proved that the Trump family was being offered special, unique access to the DNC archive: likely by WikiLeaks and the Kremlin.

Erdogan calls Israel out as 'terrorist state' that 'kills children'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lashed out against Israel Sunday, calling it a 'terrorist state' that 'kills children.' Erdogan promised to fight to the bitter end against Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state.
"Palestine is an innocent victim... as for Israel, it is a terrorist state, yes, terrorist!" Erdogan said at a congress of his ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) in the Turkish city of Sivas on Sunday. "We will not abandon Jerusalem to the mercy of a state that kills children," he added.

Adam Garrie comments for The Duran:
As a NATO member (however uncomfortable, a NATO member), should Erodgan up the stakes in his opposition to Israel, things could get incredibly difficult for the US. The US maintains its own nuclear weapons on Turkish soil at Incirlik Air Base, which is also used as a major air base for the US Air Force. Germany once too had a presence at Incirlik but was effectively kicked out by Ankara earlier this year.

If Turkey threatened the US with the deprivation of Incirlik or suspension of NATO membership, the alliance could crumble as currently constituted. If Turkey took things a step further and demanded the removal of US nuclear weapons from Turkish soil, such a move would constitute a profound international crisis.

It remains to be seen what Ankara will do in respect of the promised diplomatic sanctions against Tel Aviv.

In many ways, as a traditional US ally and Israeli partner, Turkey is well placed to make a move on the issue of Palestine that the US could not stop without risking a dynamic shake-up of not only regional political alignments (which are already well under way), but more importantly, a shake-up of the US ability to use Turkish facilities for its own warplanes and weapons. [...]

In Syria, Erdogan has re-aligned himself with the victorious side, but in Palestine, Turkey could take a bold move of one kind or another in order to fulfil Erdogan's long standing dream of being a hero to the Arab and Muslim world. [...]

This is not to say that Turkey will militarily intervene in Palestine, but Turkey possesses many diplomatic, economic and military-logistical tools at its disposal which can be employed to relieve Palestine.

Iran is already considered an enemy by both the US and Israel. Turkey on the other hand, by going against its traditional allies, would in some ways be making an even more seismic statement, if indeed, further action is taken by Ankara over the issue of Palestine.

Blackwater founder Erik Prince: Obama put me under "illegal" surveillance and leaked it to WaPo

obama_prince
Blackwater USA founder Erik Prince blasted the US Intelligence community for a "political abuse of the intelligence infrastructure" after leaking information on his whereabouts to the Washington Post. The former Navy SEAL and brother of Trump's Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos, made the comments during his November 30 testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee, according to transcripts released Wednesday.

Committee members asked Prince about a business trip to the Indian Ocean country of Seychelles for a summit with United Arab Emirates business associates, with Senator Tom Rooney (R-FL) claiming "there's an inference that you are acting on behalf of the Russian -- or the Trump campaign and meeting with Russian people."

Comment: As we can see from the dates above - and this is something that Prince himself stressed - the chance meeting with Kirill Dmitriev took place after Trump won the 2016 election, which does not fit with the 'Russian collusion' narrative.

Something else of interest is that Erik Prince is said to be at the forefront of a project to provide the White House with private spies to counter the influence of the 'deep state':
The Trump administration is considering a set of proposals developed by Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a retired CIA officer - with assistance from Oliver North, a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal - to provide CIA Director Mike Pompeo and the White House with a global, private spy network that would circumvent official U.S. intelligence agencies, according to several current and former U.S. intelligence officials and others familiar with the proposals. The sources say the plans have been pitched to the White House as a means of countering "deep state" enemies in the intelligence community seeking to undermine Trump's presidency.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Nunes claims evidence of FISA surveillance abuse (VIDEO)

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes told Fox News' Catherine Herridge Friday his investigators have already uncovered evidence of abuse in U.S. government's surveillance practices.

As previously reported, the House Ethics Committee announced Thursday it cleared Rep Devin Nunes (R-CA) of claims he mishandled classified information after dragging it out for eight months.

Rep. Devin Nunes walked away from the House Intelligence Committee Russia probe in April after he said in a press conference in March that Trump and his associates were unmasked after viewing intelligence reports.

Nunes then went to brief the President on the information in the intelligence reports before meeting with the Intelligence Committee.

The left-wing lunatics came unglued and hit Nunes with a probe that lasted eight months. Nunes slammed the accusations as "entirely false and politically motivated".
